Of course... the 400,000-500,000 Malaysians in Singapore are generally all voting age, predominantly Chinese and totally anti-BN bullshit. Making it easier for us to vote is akin to "chee chap tai pei"... (stabbing your own thigh).

But nonetheless... http://balikundi.bersihsingapore.com/

My kids all born in SG. I will keep their option open and they will decide when they grow up. I just want them to be together before they have their own family.

Hey,

Interested to know more about your role @ singtel. What kind of technical job scope will you be doing over there? How long have you been in this line?

Pay is 7+k? biggrin.gif

Cheers.

Fair enough.

Salary yet to be finalized but has been communicated it will be in the range of 6-7k+ per month.

It isn't "high" by any stretch of the imagination but decent for a single.

If 2nd link, I'll hire a taxi at Beach road.
If causeway link, I'll hire a taxi at Woodland checkpoint. Save more time.

Midnight cab fare about 16-20sgd.

Hi everyone, I'm currently working as an bank officer in kl with 3++ years experience and I'd like to get some opinions from all of you for the relocation to sg due to the reason of my bf has decided to settle down in sg as he has been working in sg for 3++ years...

My questions are as follows:
1) should I get a job first in sg then resign or look for a job in sg after resign as it will be quite tough for me to travel to sg for interview due to my long hours working time/hard to get leaves applied less than 1 week approved by manager
2) anyone or your friends working in sg banks could advise me the appropriate range of expected salary for my experience?
3) is it hard to get employed by sg banks for Malaysian?

Thank you!!! smile.gif notworthy.gif

Do you see this guy as solid future husband material or a "wait and see how lah" guy? If the former, then it makes sense to uproot yourself from KL, rent a room (or live with him) in SG/JB while job hunting in SG. If the latter and you're still not sure, then just apply from KL first and see how things go.

1) Get a job first in Sg unless your BF willing to support you. In fact, strongly advise you to get a job first as anything can happen - especially if u guys suddenly break up and you haven't secured job yet...
2) Depends on your job scope. Are you in operations, or in loans, or in Treasury. Different department have different payscale. Also depends on your previous employer - big difference if you are ex-Citi, or ex-UOB/OCBC (at least SG bank) vs ex-RHB or Hong Leong.
3) Yes and no. If your skill is a very common one - let's say manning the counter in a branch or as a PFC (personal financial consultant) then you better stay in KL. If you have a specialized skill such as bank product manager, IT, operations (especially trade ops) then its not too hard.

Thanks for your advises too... I'm working in a local bank cry.gif with specialized skills hopefully I can get a job in sg... Just worry how much should I put as expected salary as I think might not able to get back same figure as my current salary and I have no friends working in banking and finance industry in sg... icon_question.gif

Most of the time in this thread they saying if the salary offer in SG is 0.8 : 1.0 ? if you can get 80% or more figure of your current job, then is worth, plus your got specialized skill, maybe you can ask for more. you just apply job before you resign first, put your expected salary in your CV/Resume, then apply, if the bank think you worth the figure, definitely they will call you for an interview. now i dont think is a good timing for apply new job? should wait after CNY? hmm.gif

What do you mean by 0.8:1.0?
Is it like i getting RM5k in Malaysia then it is worth to accept the offer if I offered at least SGD4k in SG?
Sorry if I get it wrong..

From a perspective of your pay relative to your peers, the figure is (on average) about 0.83 sgd to 1.00 rm. So if you were getting rm5,000 in KL, and coming to SG on sgd4,150, you would be equally compensated in SG and in KL relative to your peers. Of course there are other factors in play such as security, safety, better infrastructure, better prospects, etc, for which it might make sense to you to accept a "lower" compensation.
