Hey guys.. just wanted to start this topic about the upcoming Nokia Lumia Windows 8 phone. Well I like Nokia Lumia's Slick display. but hesitated to buy Nokia Lumia 800 cause I heard bad rumours about it
Wanted to hear all your opinions about the phone before I consider buying it. My budget is around 1k. But if you can, recommend me some competitors that are also around that range.

P.S This is my first thread so go easy on me XD

Lumia 800 doesn't support WP8. Max can go up to 7.8 where you have the same visual features of WP 8

bad rumors, what bad rumors?

HahaXD I plan to buy Lumia 800 at first as well. I have read quite a few articles and posts about Lumia 800 and I believe it's quite good based on the low price.

Pros:
GPS offline
Decent camera
Nice design
People Hub would be great if you like to socialize

Cons:
It does not support ussd code (eg. *100#)
Rumours about bad battery life
Although camera is good, you might need to adjust the settings to get the best effect
No front camera

All the sifus, feel free to add and comment

Not buying it because I'm waiting for Windows 8 ^^

Pros:
GPS offline is good, sometimes slow on my end but with assisted gps, this phone works great. The other day my mom tries to pasang her gps on the car while it kept on looking for signal but my phone was able to get the destination and route instantly. Decent camera? Is one of the best camera out there if only you know how to operate a "basic camera" not just snap. Nice design? Yes definitely, not like some phones just plain ripped off another and end up in spending their money on courts. People hub's integration is a godsend stalker ability, I mean I can pull out my phone and check for updates during a gossip, just saying

Cons:
USSD code are old and telco should do something about it unless you're on prepaid, "deal with it". If can't live without USSD codes, don't bother getting any WPs. Rumors about bad battery life? My man, where do you get this article or news from? Must be from last year huh? Nokia already updated their firmware and manage to get triple the battery life. I've posted some updates on the battery life on this forum, someone who managed to keep their battery life (Lumia 800) for 3 days since last charge, hows that for a poor battery life? It's not like all the other smartphones out there will last that long. Camera settings, yes but some apps with camera function performs better reported by some forumer but I can live with the default one. Front facing camera, that, you have to ask yourself if you really need to do video calls.

Windows 8? Skype integrated? Are you refering to WP8?
Not just Lumia phones but the entire Windows Phones are smooth and fluid except those with poor memory cards. (I didn't say is faster than most androids, so droid fags don't butthurt kay?)

Doesn't matter as long as the phone works for you, if you truly has maximised the capabilities of the phone and yet feel not enough for their use then by all means, go get a new phone.

Offline Nokia Maps and Nokia drive is not good, its GREAT , tested it along with my friends garmin in his car, it clearly beats it in terms of speed and accuracy, Garmin brought us from Bangi to Melaka but got "sesat" when reached there, pulled out my phone and Nokia Drive guided from melaka town to the destination flawlessly

And telco's should really do something about USSD's, I would find it utterly difficult to check my bill and stuff without it, But I know they do have the online account page where you can check your bill and stuff and even for prepaid but USSD's are the easy way for now..

the map is not up to date so for older roads its GREAT newer road its NOT.

On Nokia N9 there is lane assist. On Nokia Lumia 900 the lane assist is gone =(

HURMMM... Say if pureview has been put into coming Lumia phones for the front and back camera, front facing camera will have 5MP and the revolutionary 18MP back camera because of the case design limitation.

I wished the 920 had more colour...

if the camera size stay the same pureview would be very disappointing. What makes 808 Pureview a great success its not only because of pureview but the gigantic sensor size of F1/1.2

specs are promising, but any estimate on pricing? these new wp8 phones are meant to save nokia, so they really should be careful with the pricing.

from a designer's standpoint of view, these images are rendered obviously, not actual product shots and if you look at 820's back camera, it was obviously stamped on it with jagged edges but the camera really reminds me of HD7's kickstand and why curved edges, why?!

Nokia's camera phone could affect my next purchase on WP8.

Probably around 1.8k for the flagship.

I was going to get a S3 but I will hold off for now to see the new devices. Let's just hope the pricing will be competitive

I just hope they (Nokia Malaysia) won't do anything like what happened to Lumia 800.

820 I believe, looked the same, 2nd picture.

Lumia 800 was RM1299 then when shortly after Lumia 900 launched in Malaysia, the price dropped to RM999/969, pretty sad for those early birds.

i hope the 820 would be around the RM1K mark. i know that's a bit on the low side, but it'll attract a lot of users.

that premium price is without competition. Now samsung/HTC is here somemore thanks to elop nokia maps/drive will be avalable for all WP8 phones. So its quite interesting to see how WP8 turns.

If "offline-functionable" Nokia Drive available for all WP8 phone, that means WP8 will beat iOS and Android hands down in GPS (unless JB or cracked GPS). I wonder how Apple to introduce the iOS Map to counter it one week later as it requires data for navigation.

pureview is only the image processing technology... without good camera module like what the 808 having then all is bullsh*t...

talking on image processing, i've seen the ip4 end result are far more better with all those HDR capability and better P&S result...

Is it me or what, the lumia 800/900 looks more classy than the upcoming ones...too bad only WP 7.8 is available for old models

indeed what makes 808 amazing is the hardware aka lens. ip4 software is alot better .

Well, we still need to wait for the official announcement, seems like WP8 (leaked SDK), doesn't have any 'wow' thing to celebrate about. I'm more interested in the WP8 camera function together with the PureView, things about the functionality and configuration. Don't want to over hype, it will lead to disappointment eventually.

really disappointed if nokia release 8mp for lumia 920...u will be laughing by samsung to be so arrogant....

and a destop FILE MANAGER for WP8 called WP8 Desktop Companion App to allow the transfer of files including none media files

wireless charging arent wireless charging if you need to touch the phone to the charging pad! it defeat the 'wireless' purpose. Yeah we got one less cable but what about charging. If we abruptly remove the device from the charging pad?

First, if this picture ever gets printed out on a large canvas with some minor touch up, it will definitely be a pretty decent picture.

You can't hype anything yet, just rumors only, still have to wait.
