wireless charging arent wireless charging if you need to touch the phone to the charging pad! it defeat the 'wireless' purpose. Yeah we got one less cable but what about charging. If we abruptly remove the device from the charging pad?

Its 9.30 New York time. New York is on Eastern Time. Eastern Time is tepat-tepat 12hrs behind Malaysia time. So pintu buka 9.30PM Malaysia time on Sept 5. Press functions will most probably start at 10.00PM though

izit just me or the two models are mid end and upper mid end products equavalent to 800 and 710 when Lumia first came out? the 920 is just not the SUPERPHONE that i imagined for WP8. Nokia must have another SUPERPHONE that they will launch after launching the 610 and 710 replacements. 900 the highest end WP7 launched the last.

Nokia shares down? Perhaps due to the Lumia 920 not having price & release date.
*
its down because WP8 was not put on shelfs for sale yesterday. Analysts think about WP7 sales. You launch new models of WP8. Current WP7 cannot be upgraded to WP8. It will further stale WP7 sales. Therefore share price go down. Until Nokia says that WP8 phones are on sale NOW. Analysts are not going to be happy.

QUOTE(FastCoder @ Sep 8 2012, 11:47 PM)
Gold can't be mass-produced. Cars and phones can be mass-produced.

If you say it is a silly comparison, then why is a 40" LCD TV may cost up to RM20k, more than 10 years ago?
*
its expensive because consumers are willing to pay it. the same device can cost 2.5K at launch and after 12months - cost 1K. I cant see how LC/Plasma TV price will continue to go down. The price is at same as the tube TV at the time the market was flooded with LCD/Plasma.

At the end of the day - i want value for the device that I buy. Lumia 610 is now selling at RM650 nokia warranty. AP warranty is around RM500. I dont see how huge price difference next year at this time. Thats my argument when i suggest people to buy phone. I also check what people do with their phone! There is just toooo much shit on high end expensive phones that people NEVER NEED or NEVER USE.

sifu the only phone that have good value is iphone. 4S is still RM2199 close to 1 year di

S3 from 2K ++ now drop to RM1799 in few months
*
the problem with iphone is I would rather find out that i brain cancer and have 1y to live than to be associated with a product bought by people who queue "for days" just to get their hands on the product and when they got it, they had this sense of proudness that make me want to vomit!!

you and almost all of the tech website and reuters and.

Tech websites are saying Apple is soo comfortable at where they are, they dont bother trying to innovate anymore. They labelled apple as playing catch up with i5.

After Samsung S3 and Nokia 920, people expect something BIG from yesterday. But the apple marketting was yesterday screaming - i5 is lighter and thinner than i4S - even Nokia 920 has more resolution and PPI count than i5's so called retina display! WTF -- Nokia should term 920 phone res as extended retina or Beyond Retina display!

And whats with the skinny look of the phone? Am i the only who finds the design offensive? its like its taunting over weight people just as Sony did by naming the smaller PS3 as PS3 Slim. MS managed to not to do with with the smaller XBox 360!!

and wtf - the in cell display technology was LG. LG already has phones with that technology. When they put the display on a Windows Phone 8 device - we will see who has the thinnest phone!!

http://allthingsd.com/20120912/smartphone-...he-competition/

i5, S3 and L920 side by side comparison.

btw how is it that S3 has a 2100 battery but claim 8hrs of 3G talk time and L920 with 2000 battery claims 10hrs of 3g talk time? Quad core vs dua core difference?

What is L38?

I think the 45nm quad core achitecture in Exynos is less power efficient than the dual core 28nm Krait. Difference in battery may also be attributed to OS efficiency.

On another note-------
I think people are missing one point with Apple devices, which is the software experience. That plays a big role too despite the hardware.

And for Aspire, the resale value too =)

Apple Plays Catch-Up With 'iPhone 5' But Still Comes Up Short

QUOTE
The general consensus after today’s iPhone 5 event can be best summed up by the word “meh.” If you prefer non-internet slang, perhaps “lackluster” will suffice.

Or, as Wired puts it, the iPhone 5 is “completely amazing and totally boring.”

continue:
QUOTE

While analysts are projecting stronger sales – largely due to Apple’s recent patent win over Samsung – the new iPhone looks almost quaint compared to some of its rivals, both in terms of features and design.

New features like 4G LTE have been present in non-iOS devices for some time now, and the new iPhone camera and camera features, including panoramic photos, are late to the game.

Meanwhile, with upcoming phones like the Nokia Lumia 920 on the horizon, the smartphone wars appear to be taking a new shape.

Apple may have won an important lawsuit and given Android a run for its money in the courts, but in terms of innovation, the iPhone 5 appears to be more safe bet than anything.

The mobile market is changing and innovating faster than almost any other tech sector. With increasingly larger screens such as the 4.5″ Lumia 920, or the 4.8″ Samsung Galaxy S3, the new 4″ iPhone 5 screen hardly pushes any envelopes.

Hybrid “phoneblets” like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 boast 5.5″ screens and come with a neat S pen stylus.

Nor has Apple boosted its smartphone’s resolution, pitting the new iPhone against a higher resolution, higher DPI screen in the new Lumia.

In terms of design, while the iPhone 5 is longer, slimmer, and much lighter than its predecessors, it’s simply nowhere near as exciting or colorful as the Lumia line. Perhaps the safe bet here is the right one for Apple – if it’s not broken, don’t fix it – but however classy looking the iPhone 5 may be, it won’t turn heads like it once did.

Apple may not have ceded ground to the competition, and the iPhone 5 will almost certainly sell extremely well, but the fact is this time around Apple is playing catch-up to firms like Nokia and Samsung.

This may be a sign that Apple’s greatest strength is ultimately also its greatest weakness.

While iOS remains a terrific mobile operating system, and Apple’s singular control over its hardware give it uniformity and important quality assurance, the crowded and at times over-fractured Android market has caught up fast in terms of both software and hardware innovation.

With a third player in Windows Phone 8 just rearing its head, the competition has begun to heat up for Apple, especially with neat innovations coming from Nokia like wireless charging pillows.

Meanwhile, the “console quality” graphics in the iPhone 5 will neither revolutionize touchscreen gaming or stay ahead of the competition. The rapid speed of mobile graphics improvements will ensure that the next round of high-end phones easily outsrips the iPhone 5.

Whether it’s possible for Apple to out-innovate and out-compete the rest of the pack remains an open question, and to be fair to Apple, they’ve proven time and again that they can overcome long odds by essentially creating markets out of near-to-thin air.

But if today’s Apple Event is any indication, Apple will need to do more than just play catch-up if it wants to remain king of the smartphone hill.
