It really made me think twice about the Lumia 920. I've been burned by Nokia's empty promises before, and the fact they had the nerve to use fake footage to showcase a feature just completely turned me off.

I hope they can redeemed themselves by getting positive reviews of the actual unit.

enjoy the video again if you notice the entire video is the Nokia Lumia 920 + guy + girl. Later nokia said its to showcase OIS. sound like a twist

after they got caught it change to

The video demonstrates the benefits of optical image stabilization only and the video is not shot on a Lumia 920. For a video shot on a Lumia 920 compared to a competitor smartphone see: http://nokia.ly/TlWcXX

I thought you were a big supporter because of Nokia's camera, not the brand.

Yeap but it keeps getting disappointing and more disappointing example

Nokia 808 Pureview

Nokia Rich Recording
Nokia Lossless zoom
Nokia pixels oversampling

Now become Nokia Lumia 920 with so called Pureview

None of above

Megapixels from 41 MP become 8MP
Dont have Nokia Rich Recording
Dont have Nokia Lossless zoom
Dont have Nokia pixels oversampling
Only got so called OIS

PureView 2 is geared towards casual smartphone users who need quality photos on the fly. Sure, Lossless zoom and oversampling provides REALLY, REALLY good photos. But your hands gotta be super steady, you practically need to control your heartbeat and the auto mode ain't gonna help much, you gotta meddle with the settings.

With PureView 2, just point and shoot and you get immensely great photos, you don't have to worry to steady your camera (and lose that precious moment which you'll never see again) and it just works. Yes, it's very Apple like to be 'it just works', but that's what non-professionals expect of their device. (That's why WP 'just works')

All the controversy regarding fake photos/videos are blown way out of proportions. Nobody complained about 'fake' FaceTime ads.

Just take a look at the real world demonstration and decide for yourself if the camera is of top quality or not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...d&v=jFhhBJ1URCg

At the end of the day, if you want a great camera which you can professionally handle on a smartphone, Lumia 920 ain't for you. But it is for 95% of the others out there, and I think it's a great strategy for Nokia to create this kind of camera, because producing what the majority of the consumers means reaching a wider market base and hopefully, more sales.

HELSINKI, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Loss-making Nokia has slashed prices of its older smartphone models using Microsoft Windows software, industry sources said on Thursday, a day after investors gave its latest Lumia phones a rapid thumbs-down.

Two industry sources told Reuters that the Finnish group, which is struggling to recoup ground lost to its rivals, cut the price of its mid-range Lumia 800 Windows Phone by around 15 percent this week and made smaller reductions on other Windows models.

so lumia 800 will retail around rm850 (probably lesser if buy from other shop) once the WP8 devices are out? that's a bargain.. but after seeing the pics from lumia 920... drool.gif

Yeah, they screwed up royally with the video OIS sample. If you see the other actual videos you can tell that the OIS actually works, would it PERFECTLY stabilize trying to video record on a bicycle? Probably not, would it still be better than a normal smartphone camera? Absolutely.

Marketing... sheeesh..

From the specs given in gsmarena, the 920 supports USB on-the-go. So even though the 920 doesn't have a Micro-SD slot, in theory, you can connect a USB drive to it to copy files in and out.

Which is better? A usb drive or a micro-sd card? For me, handling a micro-sd card is messy because it could easily get lost, so I much prefer using a usb drive.

I don't understand the logic of micro-sd being 'messy'. The unit is small, and can fit nicely inside the phone micro sd slot. You don't have to worry about running out of space because you can pick the size of micro-sd to your liking.

For phones depended on USB OTG to store extra data, you have to carry a flash drive and the cable itself all the time.

Extra accessories , thus extra messy.

Like I said, microsd is small so when you take it out of its slot, it can get lost easily.

Anyway, the 920 has no microsd slot. The advantage of using a flash drive as opposed to the microsd is that you don't need to have to use a computer and a card reader to transfer the information out or into the phone.

If you are on the move, and you don't have a computer with you, you can transfer your photos out to a flash drive to be given to somebody. A lot of people carry flash drives around, along with their keys. The small USB OTG cable can be easily kept in a car, a small bag or even in the pocket for easy access when needed.
