Impossible that 920 is priced higher than SGIII. That will be like suicide

It really puzzles me as to why all the fuss is about on megapixel. Why do you need 41MP when DSLR operates at 12MP ?
It is the image processing and optical stablization that counts. For me it is the whole pureview package that counts (good lense, apeture, image processing, optical stablization, lenses (apps) ) that gives the whole experience of capturing a photo fun. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 7 2012, 03:50 PM) I have dslr and tell you the truth there tons of burden you need consider if you want pureview 808 with floating lense then you cannot expect it to fit into a sexy chasis like lumia. the tech is just not there yet. Don't thing apple or samsung can give u that as well.1st high maintenance and cost 2nd many places not allow to bring camera 3rd size too big and heavy 4th Not practical Indeed smartphone is often used for taking pictures in unplanned situation with stunning image quality. Our disappointment is not about the usage of the camera but the tech given. Make it this way someone gave u a nokia lumia 920 then suddenly he take it away and give u a Nokia n73. Get it you feel downgrade and u are still paying the same price It does matter if you know how to use the feature. I have learn how to utilized megapixels to capture stunning images and some dslr users with the same price of my mobile phone can't take the photos I took with a smartphone. The best my phone can take amazing photos, can SMS, can email, can access Internet and etc If u ask a lot ppl here they know I spend a lot time in mobile photography and I know the potential. With a more expensive camera doesn't make you better is how you use it matters. Have u used a Nokia 808 pureview? If yes u will understand if not hard to explain . Just imagine 808 pureview add floating lens and OIS that would be an ultimate camera phone a standard nobody can beat for now. Have u heard the audio recorded by a Nokia 808 pureview it's better than a dslr mic u know. Have u seen video recorded by 808 especially low light. You will be amaze from a mobile phone. Have u tried Nokia lossless zoom in video and photos there no pixelated not even crop it's clear that is also what consumer needs. But i understand where you are coming from. You already have the 808, then no point going for 920. But for the rest of us who don't have 808 and want a sexy phone, 920 is awesome This post has been edited by killdavid: Sep 7 2012, 06:01 PM |

you have to understand this. 808 is a camera that makes calls. 920 is a phone that takes nice pictures. The have different main purposes.
808 with its bulky looks is a niche segment targeting certain enthusiasts. 920 is more like a mass market phone. Like what nokia photography director said, pureview is a collection of technologies, not just a single feature. Maybe they should have named it properly like pureview oversampling and pureview IOS instead of a general single name. |

But maybe 920 is not suppose to be 808's upgrade because it different market segment. Maybe you will later see a direct upgrade of 808 with WP8. Wait a little longer. Good thing comes to those who are patient

Don't compare the 808 with lumia 920. Wait a little longer there will be a 808 replacement model.

Now is the time for Nokia to strike back. If they are smart, they should price the L920 at an unbeatable price and the market share is all for the grabbing.

QUOTE(jonchai @ Sep 27 2012, 10:08 PM) Just because I find it to be reasonable and all of a sudden I work for Elop? You can't reason in that way with them. They represent the general public. And the general public are spoilt for choices. Especially with SG3 selling like crazy. High chance people will go for SG3. Good reviews, strong user based and popular OS.Seriously, if a new flagship phone with all that features and CHEAPER than an iPhone 5 is not reasonable, then I don't know what is. You're paying for what's worth, not shiny logo. Maybe as a smart consumer I won't blindly give my money to nokia until they bring the price down few months down the road. QUOTE(PeeEl @ Sep 28 2012, 10:44 AM) Whilst your comments are not unwelcome especially it is just your opinion, here's mine. It is true, Apple brand name is enough to propel their products to steep prices for the sheeps. Nokia's brand is weak, should call it niche and Windows Phone OS is weak and carries bad perception from old releases. It is going to be a tough challenge to place it higher than SG3. You may be a tech enthusiat but general public don't give a hoot about eco systems.iPhone is an internationally acclaimed and reputed smartphone loved by unprecedented numbers of consumers. Nokia was like Apple in years gone by and I still remember they then warranted higher prices. But now they have kinda hid away with their tails between their legs. With that said, to compete with the likes of Apple and even Samsung, they cannot just be a 'few dollars' cheaper than those giant brands if they want to win back a certain percentage and capture the slice of the market they lost in those early years. Having said that, again, I do not know their rationale and marketing strategies and therefore this is just my opinion. But all is not lost, like jon mentioned the leaked pricing is including Europe tax, which could be high and based on trend, flagship phones are always priced high at launch to gauge the reception then later adjusted to include maybe 10% discount. But don't bet on seeing a Lumia 800 like price slash |

The fact that you are here shows you are an enthusiast and a spec geek. But there are much more people who are casual users or just look at the general factors of a product such as price, brand name, OS and popularity.
Yeah, you might say Lumia 920 price is justified, but if the general public complains it is expensive, then Nokia will still go down. All the analyst review also point to the challenge Nokia will face with this pricing. |

If the price is crazy, don't worry. You are probably not the only one thinking so. When respond is bad, the price will drop. Just be patient.

CNET review took some pretty awfull photos using Lumia 920 and calls it over hyped camera. Photographer problem ? Other sites seem to produce better pics with 920.

Lots of bug reported. Phone freezing, proximity sensor problem and battery life not good. Nokia should fix these soon else, this is going to be hard to convince people.

When S3 came out it is RM2299. Now it is RM1799. I bet some of you comparing Lumia 920 rm 2200 vs S3 RM 1799.
Its all about the timing. Want to buy cheaper, wait 6 months la. |
