you have to understand this. 808 is a camera that makes calls. 920 is a phone that takes nice pictures. The have different main purposes.

808 with its bulky looks is a niche segment targeting certain enthusiasts.
920 is more like a mass market phone. Like what nokia photography director said, pureview is a collection of technologies, not just a single feature. Maybe they should have named it properly like pureview oversampling and pureview IOS instead of a general single name.

Notice there no 2G

2G Network  N/A
3G Network  HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network  LTE

Its aperture is only 2.8 . Only good thing about this is the android and optical zoom

Maybe I'm wrong, my colleges was point it to me today as a camera phone, since it has sms/mms, I thought its a camera with phone functionality

finally you understand yeap one of it is the confusion it naming. If the Nokia 808 pureview was name 808 then pureview can be anything.

We expect improvement not downgrading.

Just imagine if it was an upgrade could it be at 12MP or 16MP or 20MP. Not necessary it needs to be 41MP get it. Then it still gives u a choice of lossless zoom like Nokia N8 X2 or X4. We dont expect it to zoom 12 times. At the moment its zero lossless zoom means even 1X zoom its cropping. If they have infuse this with 808 pureview technology into Nokia Lumia 920 just imagine lossless zoom + OIS = Freaking AWESOME. Benefit to consumers.

Its another step further in pureview technology.

Now is like downgrade back Nokia Lumia 900 camera + float lens + OIS = Nokia Lumia 920 waaaaa

But maybe 920 is not suppose to be 808's upgrade because it different market segment. Maybe you will later see a direct upgrade of 808 with WP8. Wait a little longer. Good thing comes to those who are patient smile.gif

I think the naming has confused many. Its a lumina series and not pureview; thats my understanding. But, it uses pureview technology.

Androidfag reporting in! I've been monitoring the Lumia series for some time now, and the 920 seems to fit the bill in terms of competing with the smartphone big boys. Really looking forward to try it out when it hits our shores!

you can google search, most of the sites called it as Nokia Lumia 920 Pureview

http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia920/

from nokia site
"Our flagship Lumia with PureView camera technology"

nobody said its nokia lumia 920 pureview. Only u assume it is

sifu we already read many places before saying it
http://mynokiablog.com/2012/09/05/pureview...ia-920-version/

So now nokia twist the fact

You may have seen that despite the super high resolution sensor of the Nokia 808
PureView, we’ve been going to great lengths to communicate that despite the staggering
number of pixels, it’s not about the NUMBER of pixels but HOW YOU USE THEM. This
message is just as relevant in the context of this 2nd
phase of PureView development.

so if tomorrow nokia come out with EDOF PUREVIEW phase 3 and its a breakthrough call it pureview then they say its not about how many pixels and not how stable you take is how FAST u take it will still be PUREVIEW. they willsay u can capture super fast image without lag . Breakthrough again and then they remove the autofocus and OIS wow revolution. Then ppl will come to this thread start the debate again ppl want to capture photo fast.

Understand the joke?

sifu read paper 1
http://www.google.com.my/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=...1Kb3YQQ&cad=rja

notice it explains everything about 808 pureview technology ONLY.

Nokia can repeat their own mistake again. All phones have pureview so they become expert in photo imaging whatever they say. There no standard or actual definition. What they say go.

If the price is right, nokia might be sucessfull with thier comeback, lumia 920 with windows 8, its tempting i have to say..ppl is starting to get bored and tired with iphone, with cheaper price, ppl might jump ship from iphone to lumia...put aside android they are totally different league..

sifu that is a compact camera with android. Why does someone wanna get something so fat and low tech like that when a Nokia 808 pureview its a phone? the samseng galaxy is F2.8 to 5.9. Means the more u zoom the more light it needs. MEANS SUX

If you want compact camera get something like S95 with manual control . The aperture is F2.0 - 4.9

Samsung has always been backwards in photography. When you talk about imaging technology never consider samseng except its FREE. Forget mention the S95 is from 2010 you know. The s95 is smaller , more powerful , more control except for OS.

Sifu the s95 it can do this
http://kira.lightsphere.com/s95_fireworks.html

When you compare S95 with 808 pureview the Nokia 808 pureview is a revolution in imaging

aka

1. lossless zoom in video for that size
2. nokia rich recording
3. Nokia pixels oversamplng
4. High megapixels
5. all in one

Woo release date

http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/07/nokia-l...ovember-launch/

November is too late IMO. iPhone, Motorola and HTC would have started selling in October.

If I'm not mistaken, yes. Just like when Microsoft announced WP7 along with all the devices, Samsung, HTC etc.

There was an announcement for Windows 8, but it didn't mention the functions etc (info may be wrong). During the Nokia launch, either Elop or Balmer said something about the official Windows 8 announcement coming soon. And that is probably why most of the demo testers cannot show anything like micro sd support and new functions of windows 8, except live tiles.
