Definitely, Dell's warranty service is by far waaaay better than LG's. but overall, Dell had LG manufacturing their IPS panels if im not mistaken.

So quality wise, pretty much similar except the warranty part only

Definitely satisfied, great viewing angles, good colour reproduction. No defects on first purchase too

But the stand is shaky :/ and there are issues such as ghosting, or its just that my eyes are bad

Real nice monitor but I miss the colours from my Dell 2007WPS, a S-IPS panel. Gonna take a while to try out different profiles.

Is IPS really needed for games and movies?

It's not necessary or mandatory, but they are better in a lot of ways compared to TN panel screens.
