*
ST2320L is 23", the number 23 in the model number indicate that, the 21.5" model is ST2220L (22").

I was checking on the Dell website and found DellTM  UltraSharp U2713HM 27" Monitor with LED priced at 1799 as compared to the older at DellTM  U2711 priced at 2099... the new 2713 is a budget model of 27" IPS or a new model to replace the old one?
*
Totally new model, and it won't supersede the U2711, it's of different league.
U2713HM probably has the same panel as the U2312HM and U2412M, it just got bigger display and it come with USB 3.0 Hub, added 1 HDMI which is a great plus, definitely a good addition for entry 27" IPS monitor. thumbup.gif
But, will still need to wait for professional reviews regards few points, such as back light bleed, true pixel response time, input lag and viewing angles. wink.gif

You're wrong. U2713 comes with AH-IPS panel which is not the same as e-IPS on U2312 and U2412. To call it an entry level isn't right.
*
LOL my bad, haven researched the panel, only compared the price tag doh.gif
Anyway, looking at the review shows that it does has potential for graphical usage compared to U2312HM or U2412M, but the input lag might draw some gamers away.
Movies will be nice, since the response time is almost identical to its older sibling, just few ms slower shouldn't be really noticeable. wink.gif

QUOTE(harryfoo @ Aug 27 2012, 01:09 PM)
Actually what are the advantages of IPS other than better viewing angles? Sharper image?
*
Viewing angles, yes, sharper image? Erm, what do you mean by sharper image? Or do you mean it has better colour? sweat.gif

Hi, I am planning to do a dual monitor set up...the secondary monitor is gonna be TN panel.
(IPS U2312HM as primary.)
Is there any way for me to just play fps game using secondary mon in fullscreen mode?
*
Easiest way is to set the monitor you want to play games on as active/primary monitor.
It can be set at the "Screen resolution" control panel once you have both monitor connect and identified.
But if you need something automatic, try the AMD CCC profile, not sure how to set it though.

Yea, it looks good. No idea about pricing tho, should be available on september.
*
Should place competitively against the Dell new model U2713HM, the 24" PA248Q is already RM200+ cheaper than Dell U2410 and has USB3 hub, but lacks of slightly less input (not really big deal).

RM1,5xx before shipping? If it's, it'll be hell of a price tag consider the IPS panel and all the features wink.gif

Reviews needed... nod.gif

how bad is 12ms on the Asus IPS on 'entertainment'? 4ms difference compare with the Ultrasharp.
*
12ms isn't bad for normal gaming and watching movie, but if you're hardcore FPS gamer, then better choose 120Hz TN panel. Btw, which model are you referring to?

Maybe your friend's house?
Or if all no go then ask the receptionist of your campus to receive it on your behalf.

I'm using a Chimei 19-inch CMV-958D-C. Really like this screen especially when it's 19-inch and comes with 1680x1050 resolution. My Q. Any 20-inch monitors out there with the same resolution?

Either used or not is fine

Added on September 6, 2012, 8:31 amOne more question. I also have a 17-inch Samsung 740N so is it okay to fix my chimei and 2 740N together? Or should I have all monitors with the same resolution and aspect ratio?
*
Most monitors out there right now is based on 16:9, very rare of new monitor based on 16:10 unless for some 24" model.
Here you go, sorry I always pick Dell only tongue.gif Dell E2210
It's advertised as 22" though.

You can have different size, resolution of screen together, but if you want to mirror them, then it'll create a problem, you must use both at the same resolution which would mostly fix you on the lowest possible resolution, can be distorted (stretched screen). If you extend your screen then you can have all monitors as native resolution but you'll see the screen as different width and height (one square and higher height and one is rectangle and longer width, etc). Usable as normal desktop but playing games may pose slight problem (not a huge issue anyway).

I think you had mistaken something there, they're talking about the Raya promotion ended not long ago which was only RM460, a good steal price for that model, can up 5-year warranty some more without breaking the budget. wink.gif

hei guys i am currently using asus s191HQL and nvidia 8600GT running on 1366x768 resolution. i wanna ask if i wanna change my monitor to 23inch can my graphic card support it ?

i only use it to play games like CS:GO and DOTA 2. Other than that mostly movie or internet surfing.
thanks alot
*
Your graphics card can support up to 30" no issue, with your games requirement I don't think you need to change any other parts unless you're looking into current and future games. wink.gif
What model are you looking at right now?

thanks for the reply..i am currently looking at dell or samsung..i know samsung is more pricey but samsung has always been my fav cause i am those looking at design first =P
*
Samsung was my first choice, despite the much expensive price tag, but current Samsung display wasn't that attractive any more, the QC also bad since my last purchase.
For Samsung, it's best to get the high-end display, though I'm not too sure if their QC on the high-end unit is better.
Since Dell provide 1-on-1 exchange on the spot when you call them up, Samsung needs to go back to the shop or probably distro for them to send back to factory, and you loses the time usually up to 1 month for them to RMA. This is where most of us here would recommend Dell over other brands, even the QC might be slightly worst than others.

hi guys, normally "how close" between your eyes and the monitor? hmm.gif
*
23" - 1.5 to 2 feet away.
1 feet = ~30cm
Usuallly watching movie will be at the 2 feet, otherwise 1.5 when I want to view some document with small letters or browsing the Internet.

My replacement unit arrived 10 minutes ago. Bravo to Dell Service. rclxms.gif

Not sure if its a new or refurbished unit, because the manufacturing date is Nov 2011, the faulty unit he took away was manufactured in Sept 2012.

Honestly speaking, I really cant see much difference from the U2312HM IPS screen compared to my old Samsung 171N TN screen bought 9 years ago...1 thing for sure is that the samsung was easier on the eyes.
*
Latest U2312HM has higher contrast thus the very "vivid" colours out of the box, with the LED tech the brightness is way much higher than your 9-year old CCFL tech of which has worn out since (much yellowish).
Try compare both side by side and you can see the U2312HM has much detail on the colours (compare them using full range gradient colours), there you'll see the different between normal TN and entry-level IPS, higher end IPS is even better at the gradient colours, smoother especially at the end of the dark colours. wink.gif
This model is the hottest so far, I would go for the higher res U2713HM, just need save up right now, hehehe.... or perhaps save up for even higher density monitor that yet to come. brows.gif 4K anyone??

Hi all. I going to set up a dual monitor for my system, so that I can gaming on the main monitor(full screen) and running other program like IE, music player at secondary monitor
Need some recommendation for my 2nd monitor so the size will suit to each other
The main monitor I think i will choosing 23" DellTM  ST2320L (game)
I ady attach the picture that I wan the monitor will going to look like..thank  smile.gif
*
What size do you need for your secondary monitor? Is it going to be same height? Square? I doubt any monitor will have configuration from your picture, if you want same height, try the 17" monitor, should be around that height, otherwise another 16:9 monitor that can swivel will definitely higher than your current primary monitor (after swivel 90 degree).

*
Gave false hope for those wanting or buying for multi-monitors gaming setup. shakehead.gif
So yeah, single monitor won't be affected by this. wink.gif

My ol' ultrasharp 2407WFP is showing signs of old age

so I am in the market to find a new IPS type LCD to replace the old PVA one

so my current one is 1920x1200rez coupled with a 42" LCD TV @ 1920x1080rez

Last I heard, nvidia and amd new GC cards is a b**** in power saving, as the different resolution monitor sort of disable the power saving feature
I dun do dual monitor, only for like playing movies and such will I use the LCD TV
but the HDMI cable is always connected.

so is it better to get a new Dell U2312HM @ 1080 or a Dell U2412M @ 1200
have got used to the 1200 rez for ~5 years already

it the 120 lines gonna be missed?
*
120 pixels, if you can get use to it (like me now) then it's of no problem, otherwise 120 pixels height is quite plenty for some people whom got used to 16:10.

QUOTE(munyen @ Oct 24 2012, 11:13 AM)

Take the Dell! That's not even a comparison any more, Dell's current offering beats LG big time (overall value and service).

Unless you're looking at "cheapest possible".

My laptop only have a VGA output, if i buy a U2312HM, will it be overkill?

VGA output and DVI output big difference?
*
What's your laptop model? Does it has HDMI output?
If you only and ONLY has VGA then you have not much choice, and you'll certainly encounter some annoying refresh scan lines across the whole screen (dark screen, black screen will be very visible) due to analogue signal issue using VGA.
But if your laptop has HDMI then use HDMI to DVI converter, but I have yet to try this out myself so I'm not sure if it will work correctly. hmm.gif

Umm, I just can't find the good terms on that "refresh" thing that's quite visible when using VGA on my 1080p monitor, not sure if this is under-powered VGA signal or is it the bandwidth is not enough to drive 1080p pixels across whole screen. hmm.gif
Please enlighten me. notworthy.gif
