Dell got a new IPS panel model at their website, S2340L, check it out. laugh.gif
S2440L for 24 inch
S2740L  for 27 inch

S2740L for 7ms response time.

S440L not ips, but vertical alignment panel hmm.gif

Which monitor better? U2312HM or the new Dell S2340L?

Price range around the same hmm.gif

Best to avoid using VGA unless you must. The order is DisplayPort > DVI > HDMI > VGA. You can get signal noise with VGA cables. And HDMI can have weird issues because it is designed for TV display and not PC display. Least troublesome is DVI and DisplayPort.

Let's say i have the latest graphic card. It has DVI and Displayport right? Then connect to DellTM U2312HM. Means i should use Displayport connect to displayport? or dvi connect to dvi?

It depends on whether you're connecting from your integrated graphics or graphics card. Most if not all dekstop computers will have VGA port from the motherboard for you to connect, however if you have a graphics card with DVI port, you're better off using the DVI port, as it has better performance.

Graphic card got displayport?

Hai bro would like to ask about monitor resolution.

Let say i have two types of monitors.

1)20 inches monitor with 1600x900 resolution. Meaning PPI(pixel per inch) = 91.79

2)27 inches monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. PPI = 81.59

Does that mean that the 20 inches monitor will look better/sharper than the 27 inches monitor? Higher PPI means more pixel per inch, thus sharper and nicer?

so the conclusion is

20 inches monitor with 1600x900 looks better/nicer/sharper than 27 inches monitor with 1920x1080.

am i right? please correct me. tq

SL-DVI-D (most common.... cheap too....)

Not quite true... a 40" 1080p or 23" 1080p is more of a matter of distance to the display and weather you have limited eye focusing range.

a 40 inch is for a wider audience enjoyment (family).... while a 23" may be just limited to 1....

This is a rough analogy (with good eyesight)

What you can see with 20" and 3 feet equals to 40" at 6 feet, meaning if you can seen 1000 text (equally with both)

Bro, can u explain to me about the viewing range please?

I"m confused about PPI. I know the higher the PPI, the sharper, more pixels per inch means clearer and smaller as well. People say having higher PPI is better.

But a 40 inches TV with 1080P would have very very low PPI around 55 PPI. Meaning u can see the pixels with big dots, and blurry as well. Big letters. But is it viewing from a further distance(example: 6 feets) it will be different then(can u explain)? and what is pixelated hmm.gif

But i watch LCD Tvs(40 inches and above), not blur at all le ...confused hmm.gif

LG IPS224T vs Dell U2312HM. Is it worth adding around rm 170 to get U2312HM + 5 years warranty? LG IPS224T got how many years warranty? got 1 to 1 exchange if got any problems?

Definitely, Dell's warranty service is by far waaaay better than LG's. but overall, Dell had LG manufacturing their IPS panels if im not mistaken. hmm.gif

So quality wise, pretty much similar except the warranty part only

Hai, thanks for your info.

Btw, r u satisfied with LG IPS224T? i feel like saving the rm 170...just get LG IPS224T instead hmm.gif

Guys wanna ask.

21.5 inches full hd monitor vs 23 inches full hd monitor.

When gaming, is it that i can see more things on the 23 inches screen? or just the same as both have the same reso which is 1920x1080. anyone can answer my curiosity?

u can't see more things.it is the same resolution, means it contains the same number of pixels.

im using 1920x1080 on 21.5inch.. is just the same thing as 1920x1080 on 23inch, just that, 23inch has  larger display.  =.=
*
So the resolution determines how much things i can see on the screen. Not the screen size right?(The higher the resolution, the more things i can see on a screen)

So, Even a 27 inches monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, i will see the same amount of things on a 23 inches 1920x1080 monitor as well.Unless the 27 inches monitor has a higher resolution like 2560 x 1440 then only i can see more things right? But then, what's the purpose of opting a bigger display(like 23 inches instead of 21.5 inches display) when both of them display the same amount of things on the screen?
