Hmmm...didn't watch any analysis of the match as I was traveling to KL. I guess BR has to tighten up the defence. Or perhaps correct the positional switch when Glenny moves up. Cuz they were totally exposed on the counter attack. Arsenal could've easily scored 2 goals in the first half thru counter attacks alone

Do you watch Match of the Day? biggrin.gif

Analysis of our game was that Glen Johnson was often roaming and running too far up the pitch where he was the furthest upfront even ahead of our forwards. So when he loses the ball, the right flank is there to be exploited. You can see that clearly in Podolski's goal. Of course he plays best as an attacking wing back but only if there is someone is there to do the defensive work for him, in the past there is Kuyt and then preseason there is Downing, now perhaps Borini should be doing it but he is a goalscorer it makes no sense for him to stay back when Glen roams forward.

Yea that is true, but Glenny is having a bad game, he is trying very hard to dribble and attack, but his passing and crossing is really not up to it, in fact he loss quite a number of balls with its fail dribbling and fail pass. Oh the other side, Enrique is playing very safe, confident dribbling and safe pass through out the game, and he went back to defence very fast.

We always advise youngsters not to leave their current job without first securing another. It's a bit like counting your chickens before they hatch or just presumption or (pushing it to the extreme) recklessness.

Letting Carroll go without securing another striker is stupid - we're no longer a CL team; nobody will just come when you want them to and having bosses who are penny-wise does not help either.

It's even more pathetic when we already had one expensive episode not so long ago : letting go Torres and then looking for a replacement! Yes circumstances may have been different with Torres' case, but it was a lesson to be learnt - who is to say that Sturridge won't turn out to be another misfiring striker once he puts on the red shirt!

Yes, I'm all for developing and launching young talents like Sterling (and hopefully others to come) but they will need time to achieve consistency over a season.

I'm in favour of getting Owen back, provided his wage demand (more like request at his age) is reasonable. Somehow whenever he played, he looked dangerous even during his last few matches for the Mancs. I know alot of Reds absolutely loathe him, but this is professional football!

We know. Can't we at least pretend we have a very pretty female supporter here and make other teams jealous? biggrin.gif

How low have sunk when we resort to getting owen as a backup? A has been that been rotting in the red mancs bench.

Don't mind having 1 or even 2 experienced strikers as back up at the moment. They can help the younger forwards. In fact all our strikers are young, Suarez(25), Borini(21), Morgan(18), Sterling (17).. Young strikers are fast and energetic but sometimes the experienced ones know better about when to shoot with power and when to place a shot. Definitely not a bad thing to have the seniors around..Just my 2 cents..

"A return to Anfield would be controversial, not least because he has spent the last three seasons with the club's arch rivals. Former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson has also raised serious questions over the striker's motivation."

What other motivation can there be? Money lah.. he's a mercenary but he knows where the goal is. Yea, a pay per goal contract will be a good deal - in fact, I suspect that may be the only kind of deal Henry will make with a thirty something striker!

He knows where the goal is but he cant score anymore. He was deadly back then because of his speed.. not really technical. Now his speed has gone i doubt he do any better then what we have now. Maybe i just still bitter about him..

Based on morgan's performance in Hearts game.. he ia not ready for PL.

Who can forget the goals scored by the plump-looking Neil Mellor, including one great goal against Arsenal, if I'm not wrong.

Remember being dumbfounded when he was marginalized and eventually kicked out of Anfield - what a waste!

Sadly, like our corporate world, it is not just how good you are but also 'how good you are with so and so', that will give you those breaks! This is not just with managers and coaches but also with seniors - yea, football is no different : there's politics here too!

Of course in certain clubs, there's just one dictator - no matter how good you could be, once you get into his wrong book, you're gone!

get owen and put him on the bench.....

as a backup, morgan showed some glimpse during the hearts game.

rather him spearhead the attack with sterling and suarez on the flanks.

Yes pretty sure BR was promised by someone that he will get a replacement but sadly we have no idea who that is.

As Lawrenson has pointed out, my opinion is Owen is only playing for money now. If we offered him a pay per goal or pay per play contract, pretty sure he would choose Stoke over us. For a club as big as Liverpool and for a local lad who was a Hero to all Scousers, playing for a rival is a big big taboo so crossing the divide to play for the Manures was the last straw. What's worse is you are now telling me we are gonna take him back right after his Manure stint. This traitor went to them called them the greatest club and when he got dumped we are gonna take him back?! Hell NO!

If Drogba sounds too far fetched then perhaps Anelka would be the cheaper alternative but he might still have a grudge for us.

I think Mellor was released back then because he was having injury problems. Same goes to Craig Lindfield and Kristian Nemeth. Both prolific strikers at our academy but always got injured and eventually let go. Why is it our strikers always injury prone?
