I thought all the while need min spent for annual fee waiver? That's what I understood when I applied for my card early this year. First year free, subsequent years 12k min annual spent for waiver

Ok just live chat them
1) spent below 120k per annum, 2+1 lounge as usual, above 120k become unlimited.
2) annual fee waiver need to request

Conclusion: Can still keep as lounge card, if able to waive annual fee, so as per suggestion above, dont spend during annual fee month, if can't waive just cancel.

Forget about the AF, even with no AF there is no reason to apply for this card when there isn't any worthwhile benefit now sweat.gif

In MYR, says 1 USD = 4 MYR, means you will earn 4000 pts.
Whether it counted as foreign currency is base on how the platform charge you. Agoda is directly charge from what you have selected. Booking.com is collect on behalf which means they will done all internal exchange rate, and charge you in MYR but website display foreign currency

seems that no auto waiver of AF anymore,
after being charged AF, call CS ask to waive.

DO NOT perform any transaction after being charged AF, call CS ask to waive.
If they refuse to waive, request to cancel card & waive AF.

same story,
sometimes their retention team will call back offer AF waiver.
importantly, don't perform any transaction after AF charged

What’s the reason to not perform any transaction after AF charged? So we can say we don’t use the card and want to cancel?

Yes. If you still using then you can't reject the annual fee even if you cancel the card.

if you did not use it after AF charged, you can cancel the card without paying for the AF if they refused to waive.
if you use after AF charged, you need to pay for AF if they refused to waive

annual fee is like a subscription fee (to use the bank's credit facility)

and annual fee is charging-forward cycle (like a prepay model: charge first, valid for subsequent 1 year)

if you continue spending after AF is charged, you are deemed accepting to continue using their service, hence AF is applicable

if you stopped spending, you can argue/dispute that you are not interested to use the card/service, so AF should not be charged to you (as you are not continuing anymore).

this is manual/adhoc request because AF is set to annual recurring and auto-charge.

Thanks bro for the reply!

For Agoda/trip.com, the display price is MYR, so when we book, is it considered foreign currency? Or we just change the online platform display price to non-MYR so to make it a foreign currency transaction?

damn i learned something new. But is it worth to do it with the currency lost and 1% bank fee?

Personally i try to minimize oversea CC usage because i always think that currency spread & fees is higher.

Lets take SGD for sample calculation
Visa rate with 1% bank fees
1 SGD = 3.361925 MYR (https://www.visa.com.my/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html)
1 SGD = 3.302 MYR (Midvalley rate)

1k SGD spend = rm60 different in currency exchange.
rm3362 * 10TBP = 33620 points = 2k Enrich Miles

Probably still got some advantage but not much? correct me if im wrong since this is my first time doing this biggrin.gif
