hi
you uses Macbook?
Many of my customer took Samsung 830 for their Macbooks

Added on October 9, 2012, 11:09 amBtw, got the thinking to take in Crucial V4 256 and Raid 0 them
overall cost is sub rm900.

bro owikh84, what do you think about the config?
*
yup macbook pro 13". Is there any technical reason for Samsung 830? If Samsung 830 is mac friendly (read: mac compatible ssd tool & firmware), I would definitely go for it. I noticed that Intel is not providing SSD tools for mac yet..

Any advice mac users?

you can try n c..

IFAIK cloning drives needs low level access to the harddisk

usb uses bulk data transfer protocol or something like that.. i'm not sure whether that allow low level for cloning

Put me on the list :0

Corsair Force Series 3 120GB x 2
One installed in Macbook, one installed in desktop.

So far so good. haven't spot any instability issue.
Just the Sata speed issue in Macbook.

Not sure other SSD having any issue for it.
Mine is Corsair Force Series 3 120GB.
Many of them get an issue about the Negotiated Sata Speed only run at 1.5Gb instead of 3Gb.

I saw some feedback from users that Crucial SSD m4 resolved the issue, but for safety try to search around for that. Cause it was few months ago, and i don't really bother and forget about it already. ><

Added on October 10, 2012, 9:45 amBut the stability still there. So far the SSD is running well only the Sata Speed sometimes will be 3Gb sometimes drop to 1.5Gb. -.-"

I am a noob in SSD. Appreciate some help.
I am getting a new laptop, and plan to swap the HDD out with a SSD.
I read some reviews, and Samsung 830 always come near the top in term of reliability / performance.
Yet I could not seems to find any retails of this drive in LYP (there are some OEM version in garage sale). Is there a reason for this? smile.gif or I just don't know where to look? tongue.gif

I have the same problem, Samsung SSD seems like the best, but i watched some youtube videos, it seems that the Intel benchmark is better than it, however when comparing bootspeed and application loading time, samsung stands out, making me totally lost.

Lots of retailers in lowyat are selling intel, but hardly see any for samsung. any special reason?

Edit: I'm comparing the Samsung 830 128Gb vs the Intel 520 120GB

If you want to buy Samsung SSD, look for storm88. I bought mine from him last week. Very good seller.

Read review about real world performance.. you are not buying SSD to do benchmark.. same like car.. some car can go faster but do you drive at maximum speed everyday?

If you notice, Samsung SSD is among the top rated for Read Speed but a bit low on Write Speed compare to others.. but for me the write speed for Samsung SSD is quite fast.. I completed my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 installation in 8 minutes. Boot up my laptop in 13 seconds before optimize.. Now boot up is 12 seconds. And I haven't completely tweak my Windows for SSD optimization..

Samsung 840 Pro has some improvement in term of performance. But according to Samsung website, the performance is not to much different. Plus the price for 128GB SSD is $189.99 = RM589.00.

Thanks for that, really confused between the both, i choose 520 instead of 330 because the price difference is not much, 100+? Samsung 830 is priced a little higher than the intel one, thats why I'm still thinking which one to get..

Intel 330 120gb - RM308
Intel 520 120gb - RM435
Samsung 830 128gb - RM350 - 375

if you just looked at the sequential read/write, it's no difference. but i think you should take a closer look here.

If you can afford the Intel 520 SSD, go for it.. better in performance.. Intel SSD is reliable, not to worry about the performance.. plus Intel 520 comes with 5-years warranty.. peace of mind..
