Planing to put in SSD into my old mbp mid 2009. I think its SATA2 only.
Which brand is best in performance/reliability, not to forget money/price as well.
Looking for domething like 28gb - 256gb ono.

Corsair Force Series 3 120GB x 2
One installed in Macbook, one installed in desktop.

So far so good. haven't spot any instability issue.
Just the Sata speed issue in Macbook.

Hi, I am new to SSD.

I have a MBP 15 mid 2009 model - MacBook Pro 5,3. Now running OS X 10.8.2 with a std 500Gb HDD.
I am planning to get a 256Gb SSD into the main HD drive and move the std HDD to the optical bay.
But, this is what confuse me. When I went into system profile to check on my SATA, surpassingly it said the Negotiated Link is 1.5Gb/s only (supported to 3.0Gb/s).
So does this mean that my SSD also will be capped at 1.5Gb/s (SATA1)??
I need confirmation from other who had done SSD swapped in MBP mid 2009 and anybody...

thanks.

Do u really need this kind of size ? If yes , u should consider other brand too such as M4 or pricier option Vertex 4 .

expensive >.<. even mine cost rm 440..240gb is not worth it imo. 120 gb is the sweet spot for now.

What if I can get a 500Gb sata2 for <1k, is smsg 830 256Gb at rm650 (as stated above) a good alternative?
Maybe 500Gb is overkill, u never know how much u need it untill u really needs it, rite?!?

Just realised the SAMSUNG 840 are built using not SLC, MLC but TLC (Tripple Level Cell)

I don't know what is TLC and how TLC performs. So i dig in and manage to find some resource from Micron.

Happy viewing

From the pics, i think its an OEM 830. Is 1 year warranty enough (for 300 bucks)?

Get the correct distribution (Pro/Business/Home) from Digital River and use the legal key (sticker on your laptop) to install. It's 100% legal and effective.

Vista link

Win 7 link
