If you want to buy Samsung SSD, look for storm88. I bought mine from him last week. Very good seller.

there're so many ssd tweaking guides around including TS put in 1st page..
may i know which one is the simplest way and the best?
according to this site
windows 7 and SSD
When Windows 7 detects that you have a properly configured, fast SSD drive, it disables several unnecessary features, including Superfetch, Prefetch, and ReadyBoot. It also disables scheduled defragmentation operations for the SSD, which isn't necessary, and can reduce the usable life of the drive.

so how to properly configure?
some site has fewer steps and some have so many... hmm.gif

If your OS is windows 7, there are only a few tweaks needed, personally im using this http://www.elpamsoft.com/?p=SSD-Tweaker
a few more things are, disable hibernation(can be very large if your system ram capacity is high), and reduce the pagefile size, not disable pagefile.

Hi, I am new to SSD.

I have a MBP 15 mid 2009 model - MacBook Pro 5,3. Now running OS X 10.8.2 with a std 500Gb HDD.
I am planning to get a 256Gb SSD into the main HD drive and move the std HDD to the optical bay.
But, this is what confuse me. When I went into system profile to check on my SATA, surpassingly it said the Negotiated Link is 1.5Gb/s only (supported to 3.0Gb/s).
So does this mean that my SSD also will be capped at 1.5Gb/s (SATA1)??
I need confirmation from other who had done SSD swapped in MBP mid 2009 and anybody...

thanks.

Do u really need this kind of size ? If yes , u should consider other brand too such as M4 or pricier option Vertex 4 .

Just got my Intel 520 yesterday, ran some benchmark, the read speed seems normal, but the write speed seems to be capped at 485mb/s any ideas?

smile.gif i'm MacBook Aluminium late 2008 user, yes, it is normal if your Macbook/MBP is using MCP79 chipset. normally it will drop to SATA1 speed. i'm using Corsair Force 3 120G for about three weeks. However, if install Virual Box and with Windows OS benchmark using ATTO, you will notice the SSDis actually running READ speed SATA2, WRITE speed SATA1.

it could be different if you use other SSD brand. smile.gif but i'm ok with the speed since it's almost 4 years old macbook, feel it still can last for maybe one or two years. smile.gif

You should hovering around the option on the SSD tweaker to see what the options does sweat.gif
The best setting is left everything unticked and disabled tongue.gif
And since hibernation is only useful when you have small ram + hdd, and since SSD greatly accelerated the booting speed, thus its not needed now, read this to figure out how to disable it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730

Sequential Read / Write (up to)
550 MB/s / 500 MB/s
Source: Intel SSD 520 Series

Your write speed is very fast already.. almost reach it's limit (500mb/s).. U need more speed? Do you always write data with file size bigger than 485mb? Other people write speed only between 200-350mb/s and consider fast already..

looks normal. maybe your ssd is getting full, so its slightly slower? My corsair is good though, 30 gb free. and still getting read 550 mb/s and write 515mb/s.
