anw 160gb is more than enuf for apps. just make sure paging and hybernation is off, shaved 30gb off mine.

guy, any sata3 pci card recommend? I need a full speed sata3 pci card

Not recommended as most MOBO does not have BIOS that allow boot from PCI E
The MSI card that you have is already good card. Another one that I can think of is ASUS U3S6.

Huh, i'm pretty sure it can, it's not pcie ssd, it's sata port expansion card.
The Asus u3s6 is almost a same thing as the MSI one, as both are using Marvel SATA controller.
Another option is to buy the LSI pcie sata card, but those card is very expensive, you could even buy a new mobo with that price iirc sweat.gif

LSI doesnt produce basic SATA 3 cards. They are not normal consumer product line up.

and Any PCIe extension card boot nicely. Just, it take longer time as it to load up the driver before go into OS

yeah, i quite agree.coz im using msi card..lol.. might plan to upgrading.. any noticeable incremental if the speed up to 5xxmb?

The answer is no laugh.gif
Most of the difference/merit of SSD is the ability to have FAST random read/write speed + latency
That's why boot up or application opening on SSD is much faster when compare to SSD
I really doubt you have chance to use 500MB/S write short of copying from SATA 3 SSD to SATA 3 SSD sweat.gif
Remember HDD max out roughly 100MB/s or so only

Guys, Pros, Sifus, Gurus I need your help! sad.gif

I currently have the cash to buy one SSD but I can't decide which!

These two caught my eyes...
1. Plextor M5S 128GB
2. Crucial M4 128GB

Crucial M4 cost about RM36x with 3 years warranty while Plextor cost about RM29x with 3 years warranty as well...

Reliability and performance wise, which one is better?! yawn.gif

Those aftermarket raid cards are mostly for server application. Kinda hardcore for normal Malaysian folks.

Why only Kingston and intel SSD? both performs similar as both are using same SSD controller, may be with different firmware.

Plextor's SSD quite good imho.

Plextor using marvell controller, which it's good at reliability, while other SSD like OCZ, Corsair etc using SandForce, which it's good at performance but stability wise....not so much...

You won't notice much difference for both controller in real life ...unless you benchmark all of'em
