Should i use the ASMedia PCIe SATA3 controlleror Sata3 port on Asus P8Z77 pro mobo ? Whats the different n which one better ?
*
why dont just use the intel native sata ports?
Third party(jmicron/marvel/asmedia ect) sata controller still inferior to native intel/amd chipset sata port, in terms of read/write performance.
third party sata port should be use with optical disk drives, or slow hdd.

You should use intel native SATA 3/6GBps ports instead of 3rd party SATA 3 card unless you are like me that is still using an old mobo that does not have SATA3 ports... biggrin.gif

Yes, the SSD will die within a month. BTW I don't see how this will affect the SSD.

The vertex 4 should be on sata 3 to have it's full potential.

If the only reason you want to buy a good SATA 6.0 Gb/s motherboard is to pair it with your SATA 6.0 GB/s SSD, then you probably should not do it. In fact, if you have a better use for your money, then you should not do it.

Not only is replacing the motherboard a lot of work, as you need to dismantle your rig to do it, the typical usage performance gain is rather little. If you have budget issues, it would be best to wait until you replace your CPU as well.

Your SSD won't die faster. I download my torrents to my SSD.

Doesn't matter either.
I don't see why it would hurt lol. SSDs aren't just made for speed you know...

I bought it from ebay -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/150839174303?ssPag...984.m1497.l2649. Performance wise it's ok, you won't get full 6GB/s speed on add on cards. Max will like be 5GB/s at least better than my SATA 2 3GB/s.

Actually the best way to differentiate SSD is the controller right?

I'm noob about SSD. While browsing, it seems Intel 330 120 is the cheapest SSD one can buy. But I read something about sandforce issue.

Other option are Crucial M4.

However, reason I want to go for SSD:

1. Get rid of annoying Diablo III lag
2. Faster windows 7 boot up

Budget around RM380. Anyone can recommend value for money with balance performance? Thanks.

1. Getting an SSD won't remove your D3 lag. D3 loads its entire level onto your RAM, doesn't stream from HDD/SSD unlike games such as Skyrim or RAGE.

2. Good choice.

The Intel 330 is using Sandforce controller, but Intel's firmware has been pretty solid for it thus far. Don't have to worry too much.
So I'd still recommend an Intel 330 for your budget, otherwise the Crucial M4 is always a good alternative pick.

It's faster yes, if that's what you're asking.
