i've been through the SRD in SSB Miri somewhere in November 2008..I've passed in the interview..so they offer me the "Trainee Operation Technician " position..i already done the medical check-up(the doctor told me im fit to work with shell..hehehehe) which is required by Shell last February....so im waiting for shell to confirm when i will i start working with them...last time during the SRD session they told we will start working by April 2009...but until now Shell doesnt inform me when is the actual date will be...so.. anybody here also in the same situation with me????i just want some info on this.....thankssss

1) Does anyone knows where the SRD will be held? is it at miri or the shell house. the first interview was at the shell house.

2) when will it be?

I am currently waiting for call to SRD after interview last week, hope I can make it, can i know how long it takes them to call you and can i check my status online?i cant find the page to check my status, anyone help me ,thx

sklyte, how was the interview? can u share your experience? what questions did they ask?

3 parts same as what everyone is talking about, most important thing would be the 2nd part i guess..they ask to give an example of your non academic achievement and through there they will ask alot of questions to find out more, the next question they asked to give her a situation where you have face different opinions and how u manage the situation..i can't really think of this question thats y i screwed up this interview..3rd part is about general topic, check in the forum...

2nd is called SRD (from this you'll know whether u get the job)

i really need help here. Will the SRD be held in miri or at the shell house? If it is at miri, will they be paying for my air tickets? When will the SRD be? Greatly appreciated if anyone can help me out. Thanks!

If they call u for a SRD...
For upstream (Exploration and Productions), it'll be in Miri.
Maybe for business (downstream), it'll be in shell house.
They'll pay for ur flight but u gotta pay first and claim later.
Hotel will be provided as well.

As far as I know, all SRD is based in Miri. upstream, downstream, GS... all was done in House 100 in Piasau camp, Miri.

Ticket will be paid by yourself in advance and reimbursed by Shell after the SRD, regardless you pass or not.

SRD date is something of a mystery.

Lets sum up how the heck you can get into the Shell world..

1. Study your a$$ out and get CGPA more than 3.0 (and gain experience dude, you'll need it. Discovery channel and Nat geo is a good start)
2. Go to www.shell.com/careers
3. Click on Join as graduates and submit your resume and pray hard.... harder
4. Some dude/gal from Shell HR sent you email or call you.
5. You will be given two choices, face to face interview or phone interview. (Can say this is interview Stage 0)
6. You manage to passed Interview Stage 0 and invited to SRD. (Wooo hoooo... still one big task ahead)
7. You go to the SRD which is divided into three section (Interview Stage 1). Nothing much we can help you on this one... if you got the stuff, you are in. best of luck..
8. Sometime after that... you receive this email from some dude/gal stating you pass or fail...
9. Let say you pass. Some HR dude/gal contact you and proceed to give you further details.
10. Medical check, no drugs abuse.. sure pass..
11. And suddenly you find yourself staying in 4 star hotel for 3 weeks and provided with a car.... ( may vary)
12. and suddenly you noticed everyone smiling at you.. and what do you know.. you just enter Shell world... now get to work...


13. Then you can buy Lancer Evo...
14. Then can buy house
15. Then can buy i7
16. Then can buy _______

Any kind souls willing to share on the economic benefits of working with Shell? I mean apart from the high salary, what else does Shell offer?

So far I know of the following:-
-1/6th of basic salary for West Malaysians working in the East
-RM 350 transport allowance
-RM 1500 accommodation allowance
-1 time pay-off of RM3500 for settling down in the East (West Malaysians only)

What about the yearly bonus? And there are rumours of a Shell credit card to employees? How many percent is the usual yearly increment? Any help with housing or car loans?

I've probably listed this down somewhere but here goes:

- yearly bonus is a complicated formula and it depends on performance/job group/etc. For younger chaps assume 2+ months of pay.
- no Shell credit card, they say go apply for the Citibank Shell card
- yearly increment is tied to your performance/job group/etc. Average is 3-5% of base pay.
- loans = they have loan benefits but it's in flux and may change. I personally don't care for the loans, I much prefer more money


Other benefits that most people don't know or not aware of:
- 4-7% EPF top up
- share plan with automatic bonus top up
- damn good employee referral plan. Refer an employee successfully and get lots of money
- very strong development program. If you're a "talent" then more power to you

What sucks:
- very

Not to forget, the SRP, SRA and all those target achieving payout.

And then, work for 3 to 5 years to gain experiences on oil & gas industry..Jump to another o&g company which gives 6 months bonus..

I have 1 more question to ask. How many days will we be at miri for the SRD 2nd interview? Will it be the whole week or just 2 days and 1 night. i believe we are not going to stay at a five star hotel right when we are there?

By the way, the flight to miri , what airlines can we use? only budget airlines like Air Asia?

it will be 2 days and 1 night.

u will have to reach the briefing day, spend the night at hotel (provided/supported), then next day is SRD, till evening or so u go back.

when is ur SRD?

anyways bout the SRD... does anyone know if its technical presentation or interview? I know if presentation we can maybe present our FYP... but what bout interview? This issue is important as this is y many% fail the SRD due to this part.
Anyone can advise for this?
