Dont sweat it bro... within 3 years from your grad year, you can still apply to join Shell... if not you have many other options of OnG company around.. plus some of them offer better pay and benefit... i read in another thread that Petronas is offering their grad RM 3500 dunno how true, it seems that people in the other tread says it is true

I have done my interview just now..haha..quite interesting experience..now i'm wifi in miri airport...boring gila..flight time is 940...so now is just 625...

Trust me. you'll be thrilled to know how much a fresh can have if you are from west Msia working in Miri.

For those who is wondering how long for you to get a response. It may vary and there is no specific time frame for them to reply, It can be fast or slow. This HR people is human also, open to flaw like each of us here too. If everything is ok, they will contact you eventually or just push them like BRC mentioned.

As far as I know, all SRD is based in Miri. upstream, downstream, GS... all was done in House 100 in Piasau camp, Miri.

Ticket will be paid by yourself in advance and reimbursed by Shell after the SRD, regardless you pass or not.

SRD date is something of a mystery.

Lets sum up how the heck you can get into the Shell world..

1. Study your a$$ out and get CGPA more than 3.0 (and gain experience dude, you'll need it. Discovery channel and Nat geo is a good start)
2. Go to www.shell.com/careers
3. Click on Join as graduates and submit your resume and pray hard.... harder
4. Some dude/gal from Shell HR sent you email or call you.
5. You will be given two choices, face to face interview or phone interview. (Can say this is interview Stage 0)
6. You manage to passed Interview Stage 0 and invited to SRD. (Wooo hoooo... still one big task ahead)
7. You go to the SRD which is divided into three section (Interview Stage 1). Nothing much we can help you on this one... if you got the stuff, you are in. best of luck..
8. Sometime after that... you receive this email from some dude/gal stating you pass or fail...
9. Let say you pass. Some HR dude/gal contact you and proceed to give you further details.
10. Medical check, no drugs abuse.. sure pass..
11. And suddenly you find yourself staying in 4 star hotel for 3 weeks and provided with a car.... ( may vary)
12. and suddenly you noticed everyone smiling at you.. and what do you know.. you just enter Shell world... now get to work...
13. Then you can buy Lancer Evo...
14. Then can buy house
15. Then can buy i7
16. Then can buy _______

Any kind souls willing to share on the economic benefits of working with Shell? I mean apart from the high salary, what else does Shell offer?

So far I know of the following:-
-1/6th of basic salary for West Malaysians working in the East
-RM 350 transport allowance
-RM 1500 accommodation allowance
-1 time pay-off of RM3500 for settling down in the East (West Malaysians only)

What about the yearly bonus? And there are rumours of a Shell credit card to employees? How many percent is the usual yearly increment? Any help with housing or car loans?

On base of my experience.

They do not have general SRD for everyone, but different SRD conducted for different available position. So its quite possible that though you have passed the interview but they still does not a position for you to arrange SRD.

In my case i was invited twice, both time i was clearly told about positions SRD being conducted,  one very next day after interview which was not possible for me due to prior commitment, and second few months after that which i declined to attend as position available was not interesting to me.

Now i am thinking applying  again, but not sure if given my background (declining to attend SRD twice due to various reasons) they would consider me.

I thought the only invite for SRD specific position, i am failed to understand your statement " you are advising that one still should go ahead with SRD even if position is of no interest to him/her. As on other side you are also saying that "rotation to other department in totally different job scope is unheard of".

Then what is the point for one to going through SRD and accepting something which one does not enjoys?

other way is thru internship i guess

well you can consider either large companies like Motorola, Alterra, etc that deals more in your field . shell is not the only company around ma there are alot of other good companies around worth considering

yerp. i guess its bcos of the "sponsorship bonding" thing.
none of my fren who were sponsored for our studies pass the 1st stage interview.

kinda dissapointed.
