Download speed cap at 1Mbps (for P2P only) while downloading ISO image for Linux Ubuntu from Ubuntu tracker@8:44PM via Maxis FTTH

This FUP will be activated by Maxis on daily basis from 8pm to 2am on P2P only

I've never seen this so called FUP working.
I do sometimes get impatient and blame the ISP when the speed does not go up fast enough.
I also try not to be a beginner in torrenting and learn to do some tweaks with network and utorrent.
When all else fails I guess blame the router with 802.11g 54Mbps speed and upgrade to 802.11n 600Mbps Dual Band

Not sure to encourage ppl to complain more so less congested network or to
correct them and seem like overly defending maxis than ppl will b skeptical that theres nothing wrong

BTW, so far oni concern about Maxis FTTH is its latency to overseas server which disrupts most online gaming

I can't seem to access certain websites. It's been blocked by maxis. Tried changing my pc DNS to 8.8.8.8. But it doesn't work.
How to bypass this? Kindly advise.

you mean your thomson router problem? It's possible to dial tm modem using laptop provided you are using the huawei vdsl modem. Just follow one of the guides posted in this section

hey man, thanks for the reply. on the first page of thread, there's a tutorial on setting up own router to dial. what I'm interested in is dialing directly via computer, with no router involved. I don't need IPTV or IPPhone. could you point me to the right direction (page) where the instructions are located?

thanks again!

Question:

Does the Asus RT-N66U router can replace the thomson TG784n? I don't mind if the IP phone not working.

The problem with my setup is that I'm not using HG850a but an Alcatel-Lucent BTU which is not accessible to reconfigure.

If you do not need the VOIP, then is simple.
Just get an router that able to perform vlan tagging, then it can be replaced without touching the Unifi Modem.
