I can never understand why people put up screenshots of themselves downloading illegal content. As much as we all know it is happening, I see no reason to provide "the others" with the evidence to cut your own throat. Considering that most active torrenters I know use software like Peerblock to hide their IPs from RIAA servers, advertising your illegal p2p downloads on forums is just... shakehead.gif
*
It for testing download speed via multiple protocol such as http, ftp, torrent etc. You can rename readme.txt to be illegal_content.avi anytime you want.

My connection very good yesterday, 15GB file finish downloaded in 8 hours time. Hope everyday also like that.

BTW who on TM modem and Maxis router 7/24? I am the one and I realized my house electrical bill raised significantly. My home electrical bill every month average usage RM 150 (max 170), after installed Maxis FTTH, my bill became RM 250 immediately.
*
I also switch ON 24/7 my Alcatel TM modem, Thomson Maxis router and my personal Acer laptop. My TNB bill always high.

@pisanq so you are still facing frequent disconnection but yr best result is 2 days? i have been trying alot of combination to see if it helps, i find that turning off the phone service for me would last longer (1day 22hours).

Now im trying with public ip, turned on standard firewall, time server on, phone on but with Web Browsing Interception disable, if it still doesnt last me longer im going to try private IP.
I realize sometime I can't browse/ping to internet even my eInternet connection still shows connected. The connection automagically resume like normal again after a few minutes. My public IP didn't change at all. Even my connection uptime shows 2 days, the unavailability of the connection to the internet still there for a few times a day.

My setting summary: (mostly default setting)
- public ip on landed house, alcatel TM modem and default Thomson maxis router
- firewall disabled
- telephony enable for Phone 1 only
- dynamic dns enable
- game & application sharing (port forwarding/nat) got 2 entry with upnp disable
- web browsing interception automatic
- content sharing enable with ftp disabled

guys, wat is ur dl speed in mediafire.com or other file hosting websites? im using the maxis home fibre 10mbps bt the maximum dl speed i got frm mediafire is only 200kbps+, average at 150kbps+. doh.gif called maxis to complain n they asked me to perform speedtest, the result is normal bt the dl speed is nt even up to half of the internet speed i subscribed, n they told me is the dl server problem wthhhhhhh doh.gif

n these few weeks the internet speed is rather inconsistent, some websites will load vy fast while the others may take forever to load, n the dc issue is frequent. im annoyed by the fact tat i nid to restart my modem/router at least 3 times in a day, yet aft some smooth surfing, the problems came bak. mad.gif

*
I'm using chrome, direct download a file from mediafire.com hosting give speed around 850KBps. If using download manager with multiple connections per file, I can get maximum speed for MaxisFTTH10Mbps which is 1.25MBps

Who is that everyone and what do you mean by "very fast speed"? smile.gif Did you try downloading the same link/file? I get slow download speeds from file sharing sites as well but my torrent can hit 1MB/s.
*
Referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaFire, Mediafire does not enforce waiting times for downloads, limit simultaneous downloading, or set bandwidth limits.

Unfortunately you are getting the wrong information smile.gif Imagine you're hosting files in a server with 100Mbps connection. If only 100 users are downloading from your server, I will get a very fast speed. However if there are 10,000 users simultaneously downloading from your server, do you think it will still be full speed? When this happens, you need to manage the connections and download. Therefore you need to throttle speeds (for example on some files which has more users downloading compared to files that has lesser users downloading).
*
I believe a GIANT file hosting company like Mediafire use super mesh gigabit internet connection with multi-tier load balancer to cater all those user download speed requirement to ensure every connection will get maximum and optimum speed. It's not like what you imagine by simply divide 100 to 10k connection. FYI I always get maximum speed when downloading from Mediafire doesn't matter I use dialup, Streamyx, Unifi or Maxis FTTH because they didn't put any download speed limit to free user or paid user.

Thanks and hope it helps to clarify.

That is what you believe but unfortunately you are wrong again smile.gif Even if you have a premium account for Rapidshare, Filesonic, etc, you cannot get full speed from Malaysian ISP. Have you tried using premium accounts? I am very doubtful when you say that no matter what connection you are using, you can get full speed from Mediashare. If so, please show me some proof of it via screenshots (dialup, Streamyx, Unifi or Maxis FTTH) showing your connection speed and max download speed. I have been using Internet since 1990's and seriously, you are the first person that claims all your connection are able to do full speed from file sharing sites, it's bizarre rolleyes.gif

You are also confused between the function of load balancer vs bandwidth. A load balancer is just a hardware that balances the connection for different servers and it DOES NOT increase your connection speed. If 100 Mbps is what you have then that's what you have.
*
Here is the speed I get using Maxis FTTH

It's different story if you compare download speed between Mediafire (not Mediashare) and other file sharing sites because Mediafire didn't cap our download speed limit for free users.
FYI, there are so many type of load balancer (LB), here is some of them:
Application LB - to loadbalance between application server and get optimum connection
Internet link LB - to loadbalance between multiple network termination unit devices and get optimum connection to internet

BTW you can PM me if you want more details about these stuff because this thread just discussing about Maxis FTTH only

How about downloading from hulkshare.com? They also didn't limit download speed and total simultanious connection per file for free user.

Both of you are using a download manager to do the job. The reason why you are getting "full speed" is because the download manager optimizes the download for you by using multiple connections and downloading the files in parts (please read more about segmented downloading). Segmented downloads mean you can download the same file with many streams, resulting in higher download-speed. That explains why you claim it is getting "full speed".
Your observation and experience is correct. They are claiming "full speed" downloads because they are using download managers which somewhat optimizes the connection to get that sort of speed.
*
I use download manager to create multiple download connection per file because my computer Operating System limit my download speed per connection. That's why I can utilize all the Maxis FTTH bandwidth after combining all of these "OS limited download speed"

I've now had two incidences (last night and just now, never ever before this) where the internet goes down suddenly, although on the router it still says 'connected' and the pc itself says 'connected with internet access'..

can someone remind me whether this is probably a problem with the thomson router, or the maxis server itself?

My bill cycle start from 10/7/12 - 9/8/12
my home fibre installed on 17/7/12 and started to count from this date.
Bill I received stated RM168 and discount RM100 still to pay RM68.
My question to maxis call centre is my package suppose to be RM118 and prorate accordingly.
Maxis customer service not able to answer my question and log a ticket to investigate.
Have wait 7 working days only can know the answer.
*
Days from 17 Jul to 9 Aug = 24 days
Total Jul days = 31 days
Normal price 10Mbps = RM218
Early bird discount = RM100
Early bird price = RM218 - RM100 = RM118
Total pro-rated bill:
( 24/31 * RM218 ) - RM100
= RM168.77 - RM100
= RM68.77

Since your download speedtest is ok, you may test downloading any file from Microsoft Download Center with any download manager to verify you can get full 10Mbps download speed.

For the latency, Maxis team still working on it until end of August. I also waiting the 1st September 2012 to come and test the Maxis FTTH latency again.

bro, how u test on the latency?

any tools? or what command to used?

mind to share ?
*
The simplest tool is using built-in tool in our Operating system such as ping and trace route. For MSWindows you may use command ping and tracert, for Linux/Mac/UNIX you can use ping and traceroute. Just append /? or --help or -h at the end of each command to get help how to use it. tq
