Why not you go to the shop and make noise? What exactly had happend, you should ask for me discount or freebies dues to delay they caused. If i not wrong u paid deposit edi?

For some reason, they refused a deposit. I don't mind that, but what is causing me to be sien is the lack of follow ups. sad.gif but then again, they could be busy. I'll call or pay them a visit very soon haha.

"dent your head and not your wallet?"... is that your life's maxim?

Might as well go to pasar malam to buy it.

What's the matter with you? Your life is less precious than money? doh.gif

depends on what u want. the cheap ones like ironmag can provide good protection too. actually, cheap or expensive, branded or not, they provide the same safety features (because designed to the same standard). the differences are; cool factor, ventilation, lightweight, etc. for example, a rm800 helmet can have 24 vents for good ventilation, weighs only 220g. a rm100 helmet will protect ur head the same as the expensive helmet, just that it can only achieve that with much less vents, maybe 8 vents, and weighs 400g. just an example.

reasonable price to me might be unreasonable to you, vice versa. so quite hard to answer ur question.

tats great advice there..thanks a lot for the price suggestion. at least now know wat to look at.

would b getting in the range of RM100 i guess. and wil check out the ventilation and weight smile.gif actually i tink my question would be like what to look out for when picking a helmet. smile.gif

the helmet question is easy to answer... helmet can be as cheap as it gets.. rm100, but no use if it can't fit your head... you just can't force it...

then there is the equation of hansemness, hard to quantify...

fair to expect anything in between 200++ to 400...anything above that is form over functionality....

most important is a helmet you are are comfortable with and one where you don't know you are wearing it at all, if it keeps annoying you by making you fiddling with it constantly, it becomes a safety concern in the first place

Guys, need your input and opinion as a fellow cyclist:

I'm planning to convert my current Merida to suit the new terrain (fast flat route) in the Middle East
(30-40km avg speed on group ride 80km-120km)

Full 2013 SRAM Red grouppos
Zipp 404 Firecrest CC
New handlebar perhaps with the tri-bar

Thrash it good for 3 years there and buy the whatever latest specialized has to offer when I'm back in Msia.

How's that sound? Is it a good choice?

Guess you are lonely ranger cyclist all this while right...

From my experience with my P2K group ride:

30-40km avg speed on peloton ride for 80km-120km

it's not about ur bikes spec, but also your ability to tag along with peloton and drafting behind...
also, riding in peloton talks about "working" be the train head by turns....

there's 2 by 2 formation... single fold formation....

for 2 by 2 formation, the 1st row of rider lead the peloton... then both decided to give way, both riders ride out left and right side, let the 2nd row riders move forward from contre. while the 1st row riders find their ways to draft back to peloton at the back....

for single fold formation, when the 1st rider get tired, he keep to right and slowdown, let the 2nd rider continue to lead with the peloton. the 1st rider then draft behind the peloton....

My Giant TCR SL3 are doing well in peloton... it's all about ur trust to ur buddies front n back... Importantly, DO NOT SWING ur bike left right right left... which could affect others in peloton.

oh yeah... Tri-bar, my P2K members hates tri-bikes cyclist to ride with them in peloton, as Tri-bike handle position are not stable as normal roadbike....

ok, that's all from me on the softskills perspective...

it's bloody awesome feel able to draft behind on 40km/hr++++ speed with minimum effort ! thumbup.gif

die die dont drop from peloton, else suffer like me which always happens to me after 40KM++ mark where my P2K train head go even faster... Foreveralone ride is terrible.... rclxub.gif

Vin_ann and anybody else,

I tend to get nervous when riding side by side with someone especially riding and drinking water at the same time. How to get over with it.

I really wanna try group riding but those around my place tend to go around that same avg as your group ride.

What to do? I am lone wolf too

Added on November 12, 2012, 11:47 amAlso, i am wondering if most of the brand (trek, spez, pina, colnago, time, look, etc) here will entertain warranty claim that its originally purchased outside malaysia? Cause I am going to buy another bike in Aussie as i being here for quite a while and there is possibility i would comeback to KL for good.

Any opinion about that matters ??

Yeah I kinda like with a ride buddy 1 or 2 riders only for hill ride. I seldom ride on a flat with a peloton. Tried once but no proper pace line though. So I guess while drafting we can easily achieved 40kmh tongue.gif

Question lingers in my mind, will my FR0 be sufficient enough or do I need aero wheels? Like the 404 FC. Hurm I don't if if its just a marketing BS but I read somewhere that it will holds your speed better once you are in the 30kmh and above..

Weight wise it's like my FR0, so I guess the weight inertia must be the same.

Hurmmm

there's no short cut... practice ur drinking water action while riding more...

try to follow ur group... be it for 10km or more... it's make your heart stronger when u get drop so often! you tend to train harder... hehe

when ride in peloton of 5 or more, and everyone have the same thought, same thinking, same mind, like connected to each other, peloton is very fun....

each 1 take turns to lead for 60 second at fast speed... that's how a peloton works efficiently n sustain over 100km....

spoken like a true wheel sucker?

i understand why they hate tribars... you jus can never react in time when shit happens...

jus try not to be the cause of a crash... emergency brake happens... not being able to reach the levers in time is another thing totally...

dont be too agressive wheb following the wheel in front... 1 or 2 wheel lengths away and 2 inches away makes no or next to no difference in effort but increases chance of wheel overlapping by many folds...

think wisely not act stupidly when pack riding

data will show the 404s thumping your fulcrums anyday anytime... be it in straight, wind cross winds or when the fella in front let rip an epic fart....it just cuts through wind where there is wind...

whether you feel the effects? that is up for debate...

the wheel inertia is all about the weight on the rims as those weight affects your spin up rate... anything outmost of the wheel effects inertia in fact. so, lowering hub weight is really the last part of lightening a wheelset up...

404s is 1400 grammish? take off 188+88 grams for the hubs and another 150++grams for spokes, nipple and nipple spacer and you are left with 900odd grams for front and rear rims? not exactly light but its a high profile rim... how much fulcum weighs is the question now comparing spin up rates of both wheel... but even if the zipp loses in that criteria.. it's understandable as the FR is veering towards a climbing set while the Zipp is purely an aero wheel..

the old aluminum clincher is 557grams...he new carbon clincher is gonna be lighter...but i don't think it drops below 400..
http://www.zipp.com/wheels/detail.php?ID=46#

wheelbuilder states 525grams for the 404FC rims...
http://www.wheelbuilder.com/zipp-404-firec...m-Zipp-x58.html

on rolling resistance...factor in zipp swiss steel bearings efficiency vs fulcrum cult bearings and it gets more complicated in the spin up and rolling resistance test...worst if you have zipp ceramic bearings

so, 404 is definitely advantageous in heavy winds...acceleration is anyone's guess

just started cycling back after >10 years. The reason to pick up the bike again is to reduce some bodyweight. Just bought a pariah RB 2 months ago and i will ride from Bkt Puchong to Putra/Cyberjaya every Sunday morning. Yesterday tried in SKVE, total trip measured at 60Km...struggling like hell. I'm looking for some guys to join my sunday ride...Beware as i'm a slow rider.
