One question
What the difference between Fulcrum racing 1 and 0 2-way-fit apart from the price of the wheel itself? |

QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 1 2012, 02:17 AM) lighter, carbon, road tubeless compatible, ceramic bearings Sorry my Question is actually about Fulcrum zero two way fit and Fulcrum 1 two way fit. Added on August 1, 2012, 9:43 ambit more details... hard to thumb on the phone.. 1) carbon hub shell 2) zero 2 way fit is lighter by 25grams... zero (non-2 way fit by 55 grams) 3) one has different rim heights from and rear 4) USB ceramic ball bearings on the hubs the rest, 2:1 spoke lacing, momag, dynamic balance are all the same Is the fulcrum zero hub better than the ksyriums elite or sl? |

QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 1 2012, 03:45 PM) the same applies... only the weight is slightly heavier... another 20 grams more than non 2-way fit... I see thanks for the advice. My bike shop carries both Mavic and Fulcrum( together with Campagnolo wheel). I asked before once what they suggested me mavic (i din mention fulcrum cos i did not know that brand that time) but ultimately they told me to stick to what i have first.whether the fulcrum zero hub is better than ksyriums.. hard to tell... the question is from which point, aerodynamically? rolling resistance? durability? for me... mavic has been around long enough making wheels... and counting that fulcrum is campy backed, they still lack the dedication of mavic for a simillar period of time...so, experience and knowledge is +1 for mavic... if you look at people's recommendation... the Mavic Elite has been topping a lot of people's choices for their value for money... not so for SL as you get marginal gains only as the main selling point is zicral spokes... 7075 aluminum... and elite is cheaper to reaplce spokes as well.. point is, you can't buy a wheel looking at individual components.. it is an overall thing which is why they like to call wheels as systems nowadays... mavic went to the point of even getting vittoria to produce tires to match the characteristics of their wheels... the only complaint in fulcrum is spoke replacements costs a bomb..a whopping RM40 bucks here.. for KL.. .Mavic is getting less and less as there are not as many dealers, while fulcrum is gaining leverage...sort of 50/50 market at those levels for now... if you were to place the ksyrium elite in direct comparison with R0? with the assumption that there is a mavic shop accessible to you... i will take mavic for 2 reasons.. proven reliability and the costs is lower than a set of R0s... performance wise.. +-5 percent in between both wheels... dun need to be ultimate cyclist to do that (jus need money).. it is just a show that you are in bikegeekdom... I am trying hard to stick and use what i have currently have. I always said to myself i am not qualified to buy more high end stuff as I am not skillful enough to exploit it. Had to admit the temptation to upgrade is very high. Was thinking to change to sram rival or force as i feel more comfy for my tiny hand than shima 105 but the labour cost really chop ppl head here in aussie. QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 1 2012, 11:35 PM) what lar.. you asked for upgrades mar... wheels are the most easy to damage in a crash... i suggest that you listen to the bike shop until you can ride confidently... frankly... groupset is very personal biased.. so, go with what you like... although not as easy to mess up in the event of a crash... scratches to the shifter and RD is a common thing.. you've got to think this through the same as your wheel.. as for SRAM Red 2012... i would tell you to stay away from it unless you are looking to invest into a sub RM15k bike sometime soon... SRAM Force would be the highest i recommend you to go... and personally on a value for money basis.. even the rival or apex would have done good enough as they function and feel almost the same from top to bottom of the lineup... i won't say TREK is not the suitable choice... but flatbar is definitely the way to for touring... a QUOTE(mrjgx @ Aug 1 2012, 11:50 PM) dude..don't quickly jumpe and buy the fulcrum or whatever high end wheels available in the market. the difference is very marginal.. Thanks for the word guys, really appreciate it. My first ride after my last accident will be on this satruday. Anxious about it I agree if you would like to feel a difference in your bike upgrade, apart from a better carbon frame..wheels is the 2nd option. but trust me, it won't make you a better cyclist in terms of speed, or etc. you might gain extra 2-3kmh on your avg speed..but that's all. as from my experience, i don't find my climbing ability suddenly increase after changing to a much stiffer wheels (from FR Comp to FR0)..nor did I found it easier to climb with.once you upgrade, it is very marginal in terms of performance you expected to have before you purchase. just my 2 cents. Today went to my lbs and bought Pearl Izumi arm warmer, its XS but it still feel big on my small arm/wrist Saw one of the customer collecting his custom build pinarello paris sdg. The shop gave him complemetry red wine to thanks him for the purchase This is teh actual bike pic taken from my lbs website QUOTE [ ![]() PINARELLO SDG PARIS with SRAM RED Groupset, Reynolds Assualt Wheelset, 3T ErgoNova Stealth carbon Handle Bars/Stem & Look Carbon Blade Pedals This post has been edited by minizian: Aug 2 2012, 08:41 PM |

QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 4 2012, 10:04 PM) good thing you made it through.. i guess, your next ride would be a more confident one? Yup, he don care about brand matching since that wheel is actually in a way is zipp wheel.me thinks the avanti owner intentionally gotten the S60 to match his frame... such co-incidental that the frame has the same color scheme as the wheels... Yup i did get scared initially but soon i got the hang of it, did some crazy uphill and going downhill with my brake on. I wore my knee and ass padding throught the ride but ditch the elbow pad as its too restrictive. Somewhat i feel like its nicer to ride outside than stuck to trainer. I guess i will ride to regain back my confidence before i head back to my training plan This post has been edited by minizian: Aug 4 2012, 10:26 PM |

QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 4 2012, 10:27 PM) that SRAM wheel is not a zipp wheel.. it might have the old hybrid toroidal shape... but it is not in any way made by Zipp as far as i looked up.. not even the hub and definitely not using the smooth rolling zipp swiss stainless steel bearings... Yup, i agree as the price was only around 700 or 800 aud for the wheelset compared to 3k plus zipp 404.ride more and you will sooner or later get the hang of it... as i say... no one falls forever learning to walk.. you are bound to learn it from experience... Btw, during the photoshoot i notice the top tube was slightly dinged perhaps due to my previous 2 crashed. Is it okay? I cant imagine i am on carbon bike for my previous 2 crash, sure the frame will be cracked. |

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Aug 4 2012, 10:35 PM) Haha I know the feelings...when I was wheel hunting few months back..luckily didn't forked out rm6k for a zipp 303 or 404...I just want that wheels for the looks..performance wise..better choose the tubular 303 which is sub 1300g... I am trying not to upgrade till my body are better. Feel like wanna tapao the angmohs on the hills as i am mountain goat Anyway just enjoy your ride bro..but you have to be consistent. Eventually your body adapts..and you become faster without any bike upgrades |

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Aug 6 2012, 07:15 PM) 10km-ish? 30mins ride ? around 40/50 min ride (i stopped by road side to rest and have a drink, i cant drink and ride at the same time).. Avg speed around 20-23 km. I don play any other sports. This is my first real excercise after bumming around for many years @@ maybe that the factor. Oh ya, there a short but super steep hill that i will need to go tru on my way home. Its the only way home unless i use the busy but less hilly road (which i will not do it) Perhaps that cause all the pains?that's a bit short to be able to feel anything.. numb is ok.. pain is abit.. hmm do you play other sport other than cycling? Hopefully i can wake up early tomoro for a ride again. Trying to achieve 15/20km ride. This post has been edited by minizian: Aug 6 2012, 07:54 PM |

Dang woke up at 5 to ride in wee hours oh morning. Damn, gonna expect no ppl but the whole road is full of cyclist and construction workers. Mind you the temp was about 6/7 degrees.
Is the frame consider stiff if i can feel vibration from all kind of road condtion the bike ride on (in a way not comfy)? What define stiff as in lateral stiffness? How do i feel it? Tweak the front brake to align it toward the braking track, now the brake zap the speed much better. Is normal that the rear brake is much more mushy compared to the huge stopping power of front brake? *Gotta woke up at 3 am to cycle at my fav area less automobile traffic. Did my first 20km today. Was riding well then suddenly my left leg cramp and i had to stop beside but then i lost my balance when stopping/unclip i fell down the wrong side, got stuck on the ground as all my muscle suddenly cramp and i cant move. Random ppl stop by to pull me up. nothing big deal apart from minor cut on my left elbow and muslce stiffen up and cramp.
Perhaps need some kind of warm up prior to riding? Manged to get home safely tho This post has been edited by minizian: Aug 8 2012, 09:42 PM |

My only warmup last night is riding at slow speed but high gear (leg rotating fast but speed is slow). Is that the wrong way?!
Is heat spray substitute for warm up or just reviler when the muscle suddenly cramp? My left leg muscle abit sprained edi, today is a rest day for me This post has been edited by minizian: Aug 9 2012, 11:18 AM |
