The rear end, as seen here, does resemble the rear design of bigger brother Optima K5, but is less sharp and more rounded. The more organic look also can also be seen on the overall shape and sides. Kia says that the all-new C-segment sedan will be longer, wider and lower than the Forte it replaces.

Kia plans to globally unveil the new Forte by the end of 2012. Domestic K3 sales start this year as well, but the international version will start appearing by Q1 2013. Given that the Forte is locally assembled in Malaysia by Naza, it could take a wee bit longer as the factory will need to prepare for the new model.

over-hyped from the sketches. looks plain to me. i guess they couldn't adapt the new peter schryer language into the fluidic design

If price is between current Forte and Elantra then this car is considered sold to me. The design concept is like Audi to me, simple yet there is a premium feel to it. Not a surprise since Peter Schreyer was the designer for Audi. I like his concept better than the Hyundai fluidic design. His design will last longer and grows on you.

The front has some shape like Scirocco to me. Looks like a lot of people here prefer Japanese conservative and boring design over European simple but elegance design.

Yes i was kinda disappointed with the actual pic of the front. Seems disjointed with the rest of the car. That upper lip on the headlights gives it a slightly cheapo look. Lets hope, this is not the production car. But the rear is quite sleek and nice.

Well the rear is similar but the front is quite different. I too prefer the current generation Forte's looks to tis. But this K3 will come on a new platform and more specs. So lets wait and see wht will reach our shores.

Elantra is expensive. If you see the price range, it almost same price with civic and altis. They are expensive.

Elantra is too sleek. Not suitable for mature guys. The design will not be long last and easily outdated.

Don't like the front, back is fine. Interior looks kind of dated from first photo impression, will need a bit more time to warm up to the design.

I don't understand why some carmakers insists on inundating the steering wheel with buttons. Are we really so busy operating other aspects of the car while we are driving?

It's a road car, not the Millenium Falcon unsure.gif

There are 14 buttons on that steering wheel, a few years ago a typical mobile phone has less buttons than that!

AV controller, Cruise controller and Mobile Phone(Blutooth) controller on the steering wheel would give you more safety when you should, while driving, control it. I don't think it's useless or excessive.

I dont think so. Kia seems to be providing full spec cars in Malaysia compared to other manufacturers. These cars will be CBU so will probably be full spec. Even the K5 is the full spec version.

Even the current Forte 2.0L is 97K , how can the new model be less than 100K. Surely will be more but it will still be worth it considering the specs on offer and the fact that its slightly bigger than the current model.

I think so too. The front of the new Forte seems a bit too radical for me. Doesnt quite suit the car.

The only nice thing is the steering console and the center console. More updated compared to current forte.

i referring to 1.6 only as Kia Korea only have 1.6 even for highest spec...
if 1.6 over Rm90k, i may consider other cars instead...

Kia K3 are manufactured locally... that why it will rebrand to Naza K3 later...
but still Kia Service Center still will service Naza K3 too as 100% same spec...
at least saved some import tax and have better pricing compare to others... smile.gif

Current Forte is based on Lancer platform with wheelbase 2650mm and height 1460mm. Elantra MD is based on new flat floor, wider, longer and lower platform wheelbase 2700mm. Forte 2013 is based on same new platform as Elantra MD.

Kia Forte 2013 will reach our shore as NAZA only refit the doors to get CKD status. New heart for the Forte K3 will be same 1.6L and 1.8L dual CVVT engine + 6AT in Elantra. News in US will have option for more powerful new 2.0L Nu engine.

Price wise, if no change on current NAP, they'll have to check, compare and consider:
1) Rio sedan 1.6 lowest and highest selling price
2) Forte 1.6 lowest selling price

If result is good, they'll bring in both. Else, 1 will be sacrifice as their mindset always think that having both will cannibalise each other if price gap too close, like RM10k. If they rebadged to NAZA, should price at high spec Elantra 1.6. Without rebadge might sell at Altis 1.6 price. Korean car price no longer cheap nowadays.

My wife is asking for the Hyundai Elantra, but with RM114K price tag with not-so-full-of-accessories, I ask her to wait for Kia K3. Anyone have spec and variant for Malaysia market. A estimate price would be helpful too.

K3 will be at least 10K more than current Forte.

So Forte 1.6SX - 85800, K3 1.6SX would be around 95-96K
Forte 2.0SX - 97800., K3 would be around 107-108K?

Just an estimate. THanks

You compared Sonata vs Optima and Tucson vs Sportage pricing, Kia not wearing NAZA badge are priced higher than its Hyundai counterpart.

Based on latest NAP pricing, Rio 1.6 will be priced at RM90k+, I don't think the K3 1.6 will be priced anyway close to Elantra, could be close to <RM100k low spec. K3 1.8 could be over RM115k, probably at RM118k anytime. Also, there is K3 2.0L new engine. Wonder NAZA will choose to bring in K3 1.6 & 1.8 or like Honda having only 1.8 & 2.0 or like Toyota having all 3 engine sizes.

Thanks for the head up. <120K for premium? Then, my money is going to the one that have more accessories to be offered. Just hoping K3 have more that what Elantra had offer in it premium variant. Based from the Kia Korea site, it just ....wow!!!

If the price exceeds rm86k and it doesn't have all the specs provided by the current 1.6SX Forte, I will not consider the K3.

Somehow I got a feeling Kia is going to go head on competition with the Elantra by selling it between rm96k to rm115k, just a hunch.

I am thinking of waiting for the moment when Kia launches the K3, then the unsold stock of Kia Forte would be given big block discounts.

A reality Malaysians must wake up to. It's a justified asking price for the latest generation of Korean cars.

If that is true then in my opinion its not worth buying. What is the justification to raise the price of forte from rm86k to the new K3 to rm96k? There is no new technology, just face lift. Are you willing paying rm10k extra for the facelift? If you are, then be my guest but I am not paying a cent extra.

Rest assured K3 will be technologically more advance than the current Forte. Bro, if the car is an entirely NEW model from ground up, it is NOT a facelift. Facelift means cosmetic changes to the bumpers, heard lamp or rear combination lamp etc.

Maybe justified by government? Since the Korea car is more and more competitive, threatening other manufacturer in Malaysia, especially P1 and P2. hmm.gif

In my opinion, since there is a price gap between the K3 and Forte, there will NOT be any BIG discount, even when K3 is launched. In pricing sense, Forte is not really competing with K3. Just my 2 cents.

The current generation Forte is actually based on Elantra HD platform.

Elantra HD is not the current Elantra MD, visual clarification this is the Elantra HD

user posted image
Yes, Forte shares the same platform as this 'hideous beast'

K3 will be using the same platform as Elantra MD, much like how Sonata MF jumped in price to Sonata YF as did the Optima to K5, expect the same with Forte to K3.

We're going to hear a lot of people singing 'If this price, Bye Bye K3' but still end up driving one when it launches.

Yeah, but I got a tight budget. I can't spend more than rm86k on a car.

Doesn't mean the car isn't worth the value. Remember this is a C segment car, where many Japan marque are priced above 100k even for the most basic spec.

I thought kia forte is a b-segment car like city and vios.

Hah, those jap marques are not worth above 100k.

I test driven the toyota altis 1.6, no VSC ! , damn underpower and the price is 106k. To me its a total rip-off.

It's everywhere on the internet, and using a logical argument, why would most preview of the K3 mention it'll be based on the new Elantra MD platform if the current Forte uses MD's platform? You would be reading 'No changes to the platform it is based on'.

Hard to believe but 'latest model' don't always means 'latest generation technology'.

It's correct to say:

Forte shares Elantra HD platform
K3 shares Elantra MD platform.

When you mention "latest model," you meant Forte and not K3, I assume. Thanks.

Looking at the specs and the acceptable price tag on the all current Kia/Hyundai models, I would not mind it driving one. Plus, the 'K-pop' design have more thumbs up compare to what the current 'Shogun' car maker have to offer in Malaysia market today. Not to forget all the warranty and promotion it have. Very attractive.

Now, I'm sleepless after visiting and test driving the new Kia Optima. If only I could get a raise......now please.

Read from blogs, the Americans will get 1.8L and 2.0L. Koreans have 1.6L and 1.8L. Naza should bring in only 1.6L so that they don't kill the 1.8L in sales volume and resale value. This is by judging from the way they do with Forte 1.6 and 2.0, they did pretty badly with the 2.0L. That's NAZA only bring in 1 engine this time. Optima only have 2.0L, Sportage only 2.0L, Sorento only 2.4L.

Test unit also don't have, only have when there are owners that have not collected their cars. I don't even want to drive as it might damage somebody's car by revving hard before run in 1000km or increased the mileage, no longer 1st hand like that. So rich but no money to buy test unit with valid license plate for us to test drive each and every model?

The new Rio launched yesterday, I doubt they even have test unit. Next week or 2 might have, if I see no license plate, that should be some new early booked owner's car that they used for test drive. If they still do so, I will not buy Kia at all. Besides, Elantra looks better in overall, at least more original and it's designed by BMW ex-designers.

I would say that Kia after sales service is more o less same with Toyota.
It depends on which sc u visit.
Not all Toyota or Kia sc is the same, I mean in terms of service level.

FYI, I owned a Toyota vios for 7 years and forte for 2 years, that s y I know it very well smile.gif
In fact Kia made cars are reliable and better a lot compared to Toyota made, just engine a bit under refinement.
The rest better than Toyota! thumbup.gif

Previous KIA models do have bad resale value. Really bad. But after Forte 2010 model, the rv is improving. Still not high yet but it's showing good improvements.

If KIA continues to deliver good cars, and NAZA continue to give good services (both are getting better), the rv should go higher.
People also need to open their hearts, give it a try.

u can do a used car price survey via internet.
My car is forte 2.0 6speed year 2011. I think most of the dealers are selling at 83k for 2 years old car which I think is still not bad cool2.gif FYI, my fc also not bad, 50 Ron 95 can last for 330+- km.75% hiway and 25% city. thumbup.gif

Btw, in terms of quality wise, do u think T & H quality so good?
I would say it's all depends on yr luck.

My vios had engine knocking sound for the last 7 yrs but the sc still not able to solve it, the features provided are so kosong, like proton wira jer. doh.gif
Moreover, my uncle 2008 Camry also facing a lot of noise issue until sold it off last year becoz the sc want him to spend around 10k to fix some parts doh.gif

Anywhere, u can think about it carefully, money is yrs.
Either u want to enjoy yr new car with full of gadgets or being a slave to brand loyalty cool2.gif

haahaa ... not sure when they going to launch. Actually i have been waiting for quite some time already. If budget fit then i will go for it. I have no issues with the design. IMO, now car designers tends to focus on the rear instead of the front. Probably because most of the time, ppl will be admiring ur car from your back during traffic jam? LOL!

Our family had a 2005 Kia Spectra. The car itself is ok. But some parts wear out too quickly. And service centers were so-so. After 7 years, I changed to Forte. I can really feel the improvements. So far car service also quite good. I guess both Naza & Kia are doing good in raising their game.
Take it from someone who has actually driven an older gen of Kia and now (still) driving the next gen of Kia. Some of my family members were very skeptical when I said want to buy Kia Forte. But once I got the car and let them have a drive, everybody were smiling.
And K3 is a newer gen. So, it should be better than the good Forte.

Wish u can get your favourite car in 2013 icon_rolleyes.gif
Btw, I think the new forte is not bad, initially looks ugly at the front but, now, the more I see, the more I fall in love with it wub.gif in fact the front looks quite nice and fierce from different angle, u can search a few video from YouTube and u will know then smile.gif .
Some more the new forte comes with few more awesome features (don't know about Malaysia spec), if the price is within my budget, I might change my current forte wink.gif
*
Agreed! Also, cars look better in front of your eyes compared to on the monitor tongue.gif

IMO, now car designers tends to focus on the rear instead of the front. Probably because most of the time, ppl will be admiring ur car from your back during traffic jam? LOL!

I also wonder why the front grill is designed like that. It could be nice if it combine the current Forte front grill with the new rear of K3.

As other said, it might be diff feeling when the car is in front of us and when we in daily, looking at the car...in the end we can accept the design.

may be they want to standardize their design. You see sportage, K5 and etc, the front seems like the same.

I think they are trying to copy latest BMW 3 series. You add centre vertical line and it'll be BMW grill. The headlamp joining grill is reminiscent of BMW copy thumbup.gif

There wont be a hatchback version for the K3 in Malaysia. And i dont think the Turbo would be introduced here. If it was possible, im sure Naza would have brought in the Optima Turbo instead of the MPI.

Pricing for K3 is expected to be in the region of 95-98K from reliable sources. It will come with an improved engine and specs compared to the current Forte. It's definately worth waiting for...Cheers!

Wow that's a good news, But I think maybe that price is for the 1.6 High Specs version. For 2.0 Premium I'm expecting around 105k to 114 (the same like Elantra 1.8). but hopefully Naza will price it more competitive. Cant wait for this, hopefully around this June smile.gif

Will the Koreans place a small engine in a big heavy car again?

There is a reason why the Civic was always 1.8l minimum.

Will it still be all show and no go? Is that what buyers of our soil prefer?

Until now i couldn't digest how a 1.3+- tonne Elantra can run on a 1.6l engine. doh.gif

its okay, there is still rio 1.4 and forte 1.6 accompany k5
oso got saga blm, persona, exora, etc, etc, so many underpowered cars as i read from this forum biggrin.gif

actually personally i think underpowered or not depends pretty much on individual.
those who said that or that is underpowered probably drive a 2.4 or higher/better car, these upgraded from 1.0 or 1.3 probably wont complaint much.

d segment - 2.0 underpowered, >2.0 ok
c segment - 1.6 underpowered, 1.8 not bad, 2.0 ok
b segment - <1.5 underpowered

Yeap. Elantra 1.6 is srsly pathetic. Can hardly move. 1.8 slightly better but still no real oomph. Just for simple normal crusing. Doesnt really have the oomph in a honda ivtec engine.
The forte 1.6 has a terrible engine.

Already underpowered summore sucks fuel like water. Cant imagine how much fuel the 2.0 will drink

My guess is that it will be 1.6 and 2.0 only. 1.6 to offer at the lowest price point possible (with maximized specs) and 2.0 for performance hungry buyers! :-)

No doubt high cc car consume more fuel for city drive.
If you want good fc for city drive, get full hybrid car lah...or viva 660,the best in its class tongue.gif

My point here is among all the 2.0 cars, forte fc consider quite good ady, at least better than civic 2.0, becoz I driven civic 2.0 for 1 week before, can't even get 300km doh.gif

Pricing for K3 should be 88K for 1.6 low spec, 94-95K for 1.6 high spec. Price will lower than elentra at least 3-4K, as naza always aim to outsell them.
The improved 1.6 engine should be ok, 130hp compare to current 124hp. Bear in mind that k3 mostly will lighter than current forte, current 1350kg, k3 around 1200kg. Base on http://www.automobile-catalog.com/make/kia..._1_4d/2013.html

If the k3 really 1.2ton, or even 1.25ton, with 130hp, i would say it perform better than current, bang for bucks?

What car are you comparing to? Vios 1.5? Elantra 1.6 FC already beaten City and on par with current Altis 1.6 in city driving. Old Forte 1.6 FC somewhere close to non-FL ALtis 1.6 '08.
0-100km/h comparison:
Elantra 1.6 in 11.5s
Forte 1.6 in 11.5s
Altis 1.6 in 11.8s
Vios 11.8s
City 12s

Old Forte 1.6 empty weight with full tank is 1261kg. Elantra 1.6 weight 1220kg. New K3 should be similar to Elantra at 1220kg. Elantra 1.6 FC in mild city driving at 12km/L while Forte at 10.6km/L. Heavy traffic jam, both reduced by 1.6km/L more.

QUOTE(goodguyextremist @ Mar 25 2013, 09:25 PM)

Agreed. If you have around 100k budget, please wait for K3. It has received a few good reviews so far. And is undoubtedly more improved from current model.

Basically, there are two designs for rear lamp and also the front radiator grille. The model sold in China is rather different compared to what we are going to get. See attached picture for model sold in China. Would you guys rather have this design?

Wow that So Cool... Can't wait for this to launch here.My mother always wanted me to get Civic, she said people will look U high if drive Brand H compare to Kia. But I see this Car has more value & feature compare to Civic 1.8. I dont care about the RV. I think my heart has gone to K3. Can't wait but hopefully the rear lights will be the LED Combination not the low specs one

If you need a C-segt car fast, yes it is worth it.

If you can wait and have around 90k - 100k budget, do wait.

My 2 cents.

This is my opinion. K3 price will be significantly higher by at least 10-15K. It is not in the same price bracket as Forte, hence I do not forsee any further drop of price for Forte. Besides, the sales for Forte is still going strong, and by the time K3 is launched, the stock for Forte may be limited already. Hence, any force selling or fire sales may not be necessary. Just my 2 cents.

buyer gets a better specced(slightly) car but has to deal with the one of the worst aftersales provider in msia rolleyes.gif sweat.gif

Dont think it will cost more the 100k for 1.6, there are 2 variant 1.6 and 2.0, 100k price should be for 2.0, thts acceptable.

1.6 variant should not exceed 100K. It should be in the region of around 95 - 98K with insurance. Buying K3 or Elantra is a matter of personal choice and preferance. Each of us have our own taste and liking. smile.gif

Guys, its almost 99% certain that all Hyundai GDI engines will not make it to Bolehland… no thanks to your high sulfur content gasoline. Even your Vpower and Caltex 97octane Techron can’t make the grade.

Here in SG, our local Hyundai and Kia dealerships have issued a service reminder to all customers who purchased GDI engines Hyundai and Kia models.
A reminder note is included in the glovebox of every new Veloster/Veloster Turbo, i40 GDI, Kia Sorento 2.4GDI on the day of new car delivery. The note reminds customers to refrain from using Bolehland fuel on a long term, consecutive basis. The note also detailed the possible damage to the Direct injectors if high sulfur fuel is used repeatedly. Our local service advisors will remind customers about this whenever they send their cars in for svcs as well.
GDI engines requires Euro 4 and above fuel quality to work properly. SG gasoline quality has just been certified Euro 4 while our diseal are Euro 5.

KIA is now moving away from the "cheap car" tag it used to be many years ago. It's no longer an alternative choice to Protons or Peroduas buyers, rather it's taking the Japs makes head-on in competition for market share. Therefore, we cannot continue to expect KIA to be cheap and cheaper anymore. Rather, we should be looking at the specs of the car before we jump into any conclusion to say it's overpriced and other makes/models are better buys.

Auto consumers are more spec hungry these days. A typical example can be seen in the sales of Rio SX (premium spec) as compared to Rio EX (standard spec). Total sales of Rio SX is at least 70-75% compared to EX. Customers are willing to pay more (in this instance, 6K extra) to get features like start-stop button, sun-roof, auto defogger, 17" rims, fog lamp.

Though some of you may disagree, much have improved on the after-sales side. But it can be better, and KIA is striving towards that goal.

if 10-15k more, 2.0 will be around 110k right? so where is forte USP? specs? kia has the edge, probably, but not much when compared to hyundai

It's actually depends on which SC u go, I do agree some SCs really sucks, not only Kia, but same to Toyota and Hyundai.
Do u think Toyota after sales service very good? Just more or less same with Korean sc, just have bigger waiting area compared to Kia sc.

The K3 is bigger compare to Altis,Civic also Preve.

The Length:- 4560MM
Width:- 1780MM
Wheelbase:- 2700MM (Same like Elantra & CIVIC FD)

So it will look gorgeous at road

It was happened to me recently after drove for 30,000km. I am suspected the bearing got problem. Anyone can explain?

What car are you driving? This is a K3 thread. biggrin.gif

Just back from Kia Red Cube PJ, one of the SA in confident says that K3 will launch around June or July if delay maybe around August. the SA said that the current Forte production will end soon. So for those interested in current Forte, better booked it now. The Sa also said we can placed a booking for K3. Maybe I will placed my booking at end of this month for 2.0/1.8 SX

Sorry to sway from topic but just had to after seeing the hatch version biggrin.gif

Koreans are becoming really agressive with their designs.. having mixed feeling about the new front design on the coupe and sedan but it does go well with the hatchback though..take a look below

Looks like its mean for the Euro market as in namesake. See more pics of the Forte/K3 Euro. What do you guys think of this?

Does new K3 will offer 3 or 5 yr free maintenance service (parts & labour) like what M did after launch? Any idea?

Warranty should be 5 yr warranty by right now?

Naza is unlikely to give free service for newly launched models. Warranty should be 5 years, unlimited mileage, consistent with other new KIA models.

Since Kia Carens just launch in Seoul motor show 2013, will this model bring in late 2013 or next quarter 2014?

This model should be in Naza 2013 pipeline for incoming model to m'sia.

There is no firm date for Carens/Rondo for Malaysian market as yet. My guess is as good as yours, I would say at earliest, soft launch at year end and actual delivery in January 2014? The current Rondo model stock has almost been sold out, there is no MPV for outlets to display/sell at this point in time. Not so long ago, MPV used to be the the main driver of Naza Kia sales, such as Naza Ria & Citra. Hopefully the new Carens will continue to lead in the same direction.

That cool.. man, very happy to hear that because last Saturday go to Kia setapak to ask again regarding the K3 & one of the SA look like shock to hear about K3 & laugh at me saying that K3 will launch next year 2014. that make me very dissapointed. maybe that SA want me to take the current forte and clear the stock.

Don't think there will be such spec for Malaysian market. TV commercial will always show the best features available, but reality is, with so many features, the car price will be very high and will not be competitive. Just my 2 cents.

seems 11-12sec, i believe it's 1.6, maybe chassis abit heavy...
*
Elantra MD 1.6 recorded 11.5s. Current Forte 0-100km/h in 11.5s. New Forte that is 40kg lighter sharing same platform as Elantra MD, it should be around 11.5s. Considered good already for C-segment 1.6L. Before this, C-segment 1.6L usually takes 12.5s in 0-100km/h.

Inspira 1.8 and Cruze 1.8 0-100km/h takes 11.5s too. Only lighter Civic 1.8 FD2 gets 10.2s but the Elantra 1.8 already beaten that record with 8.8s. Since there's Forte 2.0L expect better result.

Big event is close, if there's major change on management and policy, we should have the chance to get all 3 variants for Forte 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L like Altis 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L. If no change on management after big event, they'll bring in only 1 type of engine for Forte like Optima, Sportage and Sorento. If they intended to bring in Rio 1.6 sedan, then the Forte will be either 1.8L or 2.0L, most likely 1.8L so that it won't clash with Rio 1.6L and Optima 2.0L.

NASA waiting for money to fall from sky attitude actually killed the Forte 2.0 due to no test unit at all. Then they jumped to conclusion Forte 2.0 can't sell and from what I know, they employ young ciku that turned deaf ears on their sales people and us. Only makan gaji buta, so this is what happen.

Sorry typo error. Edmunds said they could achieved in 9.8s with premium fuel, not sure that's Elantra 1.8 auto or manual. Their review car is auto. Ours here 10.2s, SD staff mentioned due to RON95, it got slower.

Elantra 1.8 and Forte 1.8, that means more choice for us to choose from if dislike Japanese C-segment. It's not that Elantra and Forte only fighting each other. Honda, Toyota and Mazda are all Japanese brands but they are fighting each other as they are not under same company. Who's not giving us what we want will lose, that's all.

Sportage 2.0 is sold at same price range as Tucson 2.0 high spec, both are still selling targeting different taste buyers. Same goes to Optima and Sonata YF. SD placed more effort in selling and after sales, so their cars are selling better.

Rumored that Korean carmakers Hyundai-Kia, conti carmakers Ford, VW, Pug-Citroen, and Japanese carmaker Mazda, Nissan (not N-brand) are considering setting up their big scale plants here after big event especially under new management & favourable new automotive policy (follow appropriate tax rate) introduced. We'll be fighting Thailand for automotive hub title especially we are more strategically located, able to provide more skilled workers and less communication barrier (we are more willing to lean their language & culture).

At the meantime, all car companies are holding back their plans due to big event, we'll know what car bring in after new policy introduced. If no change on management after big event, they'll bring in Forte 1.8 and we can forget about 2.0L. 1 engine variant only under NASA policy. Check the bunch in their marketing team and you'll know why. >> Don't know how to market cars with 2 different engine sizes and their turned deaf ears on customers and their very own salesmen feedback attitude. Totally don't know about cars yet don't want to know. Gaji buta yes please.

Some carmakers already have assembly plants in Thai but several segments missing due to less demand for certain segment in Thailand. Their focus there mostly on pickup trucks, less pleasure cars with simple maintenance. That explains why S-Max, C-Max, Mondeo don't have CKD in Thai. Same goes to Mazda, no Mazda6 at all. Thai carbuyers mentality is basic, simple, cheap, affordable. Camry yes, other D-segments not so. Conti, not at all. Pickup trucks, vans and special for 3rd nation alternative sub-standard model, yes. Same goes to Indonesia, Philippines & indo-China. Carmakers still looking for hub for wider scope covering both ASEAN & Down Under leaving us as the only option should car price follow global value.

>> Management could lose the RM7billion tax revenue from us but in return could get Multiplied times much more billions from expanding business and investment from locals & foreign - total win-win solution.

You've been to motorshow in overseas? K3 is based on Elantra MD platform, interior size should be somewhere around there. Like Sonata vs Optima, difference is the interior space allocation, material and insulation while on outside Optima sits slightly lower than Sonata & both on different suspension. Also, Optima seems quieter than Sonata

list of gadget worth for the 1.6 are like LED DRL, both front windows are auto, voice control, touch screen 4.3" display, smart key, cooled glove box, n the list go on and on.. i can upload the pics if u want it. but bear in mind this is the russian model but i think we will get this in bolehland also after comparing the current forte in russia with those in malaysia

Thanks for the pics smile.gif

BTW why the centre console screen small, unlike the youtube videos I see. Is that the base model?

Which dealer can accept booking? I don't think the price is announced yet.

i did my booking in sri kembangan..

as for the screen, thre are 3 types..
-the largest one u see in utube are the highest spec of all which is compatible with UVO system.
-the 2nd one is the one like in the pic i uploaded (touch screen and have rear view cam)
-3rd one the lowest spec( same size as 2nd but no touch screen and no rear camera)

so, i think in msia only gonna bring the 2nd one.

as for the price-

here forte koup = 909900 RUB, as in bolehland = RM115 800.

so im guessing for the 1.6(high spec) =RM110k and 2.0 = RM117k after comparing the price of k3 here.

i did my booking in sri kembangan..

as for the screen, thre are 3 types..

You're in Russia, that's how you get to view the K3. Under same old management, expect the K3 pricing under Japanese price range.

Recall the current Forte, worldwide launched in end Q3 or early Q4 2009, we got ours in Dec 2009. Since it's Korean made with direct CBU from Korea (only to get CKD status by refitting doors here), we should get them not long after Singapore. Won't be long.

If NASA could only bring in 1 variant, which engine do you guys think should bring in? Bring in K3 1.6L if priced at Elantra pricing might not have Rio sedan 1.6. If bring in 1.8L or 2.0L K3, then we can have Rio 1.6 at RM90k high spec and RM85k for low spec.

confrm in Spore launched in july.. saw in their fb. i dont think they'll bring only 1 variant.. they will not dare to kill the market since sale of current forte is actually rather good.

Was informed my SA yesterday, booking can be made now. Expected June arriving. Cost est 1.6 98k and 2.0 110k. Yes, they only have 2.0 and not 1.8
But with the price of 110k, it sure put hyundai elantra (1.8 only) run for their money. And knowing Kia, it will be higher spec than hyundai. I will book mine this weekend if the SA can refund my money.....in case la I dont like the interior. Seen white leather interior in youtube, don't like it. smile.gif

I'd wait until I see full spec sheet before booking. Especially to see K3 vs Elantra. Which is more value for money. Hopefully this time, Naza bins the sun roof-make the car cheaper. I'd rather go for a 7" touch screen than a sunroof. Even massage chairs are better.

Bro, Peugeot and KIA are under separate companies and management, although both are under the NAZA group.
New models, will not get free service. 5 Year warranty should be a standard.

Cheers.

Nice bodykit. Best part I like is the custom grill, would paint it black and replace the standard grille if I bought new K3. Hope NASA bring in 1.8L only if they wanted only 1 engine variant. Then we'll get to see new RIo 1.6L sedan.

If both sold under Kia badge:

Rio 1.6L sedan RM85k low spec and RM90k high spec.

K3 1.8 at RM112k low spec and RM120k high spec.

Under NASA marketing, if bring in K3 1.6L lowest spec at RM99k and 1.8L RM112-120k, the K3 1.8L first year depreciation will drop to cheaper than 1.6L to RM90k. It'll be another Forte 2.0 first year RV as there is Forte 1.6L. Please note, under NASA if got 2 engine variants, they'll prepare only K3 1.6L test unit and no 1.8L test unit available. This is how Forte 2.0L end up didn't sell well due to no test unit at all. Would you guys prefer to have 2 different engines or just 1 engine?

For China model, the radiator grille resembles a BMW, whereas the one coming to Malaysia, which is also for other general market, is trying to retain its own distinct identity.

For the rear combination lamp, I would say the one for general market look pretty nice at night, as the LED forms a complete ring and look very sporty.

Forget it. P1 protection range has been increased since introduction of Inspira & Preve. Non-local quality built C-segment must be priced higher than these 2 with RM10k difference. Elantra 1.6 without rebaged to Inokom would be priced at RM102k low spec to RM109k hi-spec. Almera get to sell cheaper only because it is classed as substandard cheaper Japanese made alternative believed to be inferior to Preve at the meantime. If P1 Preve sales felt threatened by Almera sales, they might be forced to increase price.

Whether K3 could be priced similar to Elantra is a question mark. Also, NASA will only introduce 1 variant if the same marketing staff still in charge. They are still thinking whether to bring in Rio 1.6 and reserve the 1.8L spot for K3. Or no Rio 1.6 sedan at all, leaving only K3 1.6.

aiks.. if thats the case, i expect the k3 to be around 125-135k already.. since the elantra 1.8 is at 115k now. they sure price the 2.0 k3 significantly higher, but not too close to k5.

aiks.. if thats the case, i expect the k3 to be around 125-135k already.. since the elantra 1.8 is at 115k now. they sure price the 2.0 k3 significantly higher, but not too close to k5.
*
Volester is a sport coupe, and is to fight with crz, nothing to do with k3 pricing, thanks to that price, only i can see more crz on road, lol.
Hyundai used to hav a coupe model, which price high also. Is not a big suprise when they price so high for volester, i tot they will price it for 119k, but they seems greedy, hahaha.
Look at current forte price, i would say it would be ok for a max 10k of price increase, anything more than that will kill the sales, if naza they wanna outsale hyundai den better pandai like other model, exp like sportage, k5, etc.
I been following this model since it launch, hope the price is right...
If not, i rather go for other choices like focus or wait for new 308.

Went to KIA showroom yesterday...the salesman says the price will definitely be higher...the lowest end (1.6/1.8) maybe same price as 2.0 Forte now. He says that Forte will continue to be sell along the K3.

Btw, i talking about current malaysia market, nope oversea, the main point is how they justify the price on specific model.

my fav hyundai coupe is the "cat eye" model, back in 97-98, cant remember clearly the exact year, as my cousin own one, damn eye catching.

well 1st of all i dont think veloster is a sport car. unless it's a turbo. if not, then it's no more than a hyundai accent with a different body. and also it's not a coupe but just a normal hatchback.
marketing strategy from SD to label it as a sport car gve them an excuse to raise up the price.
just look at kia forte koup (now this is a coupe) MSRP at $18175 and veloster are sold at $17600.
now how the he*l SD can price it even higher than koup @ msia which is sold @ RM115800??
agree with u SD is very greedy one!! mad.gif mad.gif
hopefully naza wont do it like they did

Can explain the bold parts? Is it tilt and telescopic? What is this puddle lamp? Any pics? I assume the ventilated seats = aircond in seats? Since leather seats are quite hot.

Even if you can install aftermarket leather seats for 1.6l, can you put the AC part in? hmm.gif

Why the marketing promotion for K3 is not out yet? Last time when Rio came out, promotion began more than 1 month prior to launch.

Yep. But news of Rio has been heard on media even before they started the Rio-Roundabout contest. Just felt it's too quiet, considering this is quite a big thing for Naza Kia.

Wouldn't the K5 be more bang for your buck then given the high price for the K3 2.0 especially with the current low 1.88 rate offer...

Sunroof is a hazard waiting to happen, especially in Malaysia. I have seen countless times some idiotic parent giving letting their children standing there while driving.
Can explain the bold parts? Is it tilt and telescopic? What is this puddle lamp? Any pics? I assume the ventilated seats = aircond in seats? Since leather seats are quite hot.

Even if you can install aftermarket leather seats for 1.6l, can you put the AC part in? hmm.gif

The rear lights are LED?
Confirmed?
Quite true. For some reason, Hyundai is quite stingy on accessories. Hopefully Naza will not become the same.

BTW, anyone here know what colours it will be released in?

Rear light not LED , is same like current rio & sorento type , forget the name of light cry.gif cry.gif

for the price , not confirm yet but it will be at that range

After seeing the spec.. overall very happy with what Naza offer.... Just i dont like the analog fuel/ temp gauge and the information panel in between. Saw on websites, they got digital version 1.

Other than that, the car offer quite a lot D segment stuff on a C segment car.

Will go book 1 this weekend. smile.gif

I saw 2 cars Kia K3 Tested in rural road from Pendang to Jeniang (Kedah and around 40km from Naza Kia manufacturing plant). The first car in Silver and second one in red.. Sorry for no photos.. both car speeding toward my direction. Another confirmation is from my industrial training student who has finished his training on April at Naza Kia Manufacturing Plant in Gurun mentioned that they has saw the car.

Still need to protect a public listed company?  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Public listed or not, P1 requires protection to survive. Its survival is crucial to ensure that non-national makes have to sell above the minimum range, as excuse to sell cars tO us at cut throat price while minimising cost to lowest. We are buying lowest spec cars at twice the price of the same car highest spec in AU, US, EU.

Even UK that charged highest tax and expenses on cars are beaten by our local car price. mad.gif

Dear All,

I have just returned from a two days training at the NAZA plant in Gurun and had the first hand privilege to look at the car. Here are just some interesting features to add to the discussion. The design for the windows near the A and C pillar provides higher visibility now, as compared to Forte.

It will be officially called KIA CERATO in Malaysia, not K3, not Forte, barring any last minute change of name by Naza management.

Although some of you claim that you have seen these pictures from the internet, please note that what you are seeing now are the actual SPECs for Malaysian market. Will provide more insight later with other postings.

If you look at the dashboard and the door trim, you will find a flowing motif inspired by nature, somewhat like a seashell design, which is very unique to the CERATO. See attached pictures for details.

The spec will come with Front & Rear Parking Assist system in the form of 2 ultrasonic sensors at the front, and 4 sensors at the back, with dot matrix LCD cluster for 1.6SX and TFT color LCD cluster display for the 2.0. These LCD display would show how close your car is to any obstruction with 3 bars being the furthest, and 1 bar the nearest.

However, it does not have the auto-park feature, which is what you are asking. Not for the Malaysian spec anyway.

There are 2 things we are talking about here

1) 4.3 Inch TFT LCD display (touch screen) on AUDIO system, with rear view camera.
This is the audio player right in the middle of the car.

2) 4.2 Inch TFT LCD instrument cluster for 2.0L only. This is the one right above the steering wheel.
For 1.6L, it is dot matrix display (no color)
For 2.0L, it comes in TFT color display.

Hope that clarifies.

So for all the priviledged few who have seen the car, is it worth it compared to the previous model?

Or what about in comparison with a K5... Well I know it's not comparable but just canvassing people's view...

I'm on the fence as I'm going to get either model. Just not sure which one yet...

Nice set of pics and info bro looks like inside knowledge always the best. Looks like you are spot on about the name, here's a piece on a couple of Cerato's spotted recently. There are a couple of exterior shots as well.

This car is looking good in red i must say.

For 2.0L, it comes in TFT color display.

Hope that clarifies.

Do you have pics of the screen at the instrument cluster?

I assume the 4.3" is the same for both, only difference is the instrument cluster?

The biggest problem of K3 :

1. pricing to close to Civic already
2. utilise a torsion beam rear suspension system which compromise the handling a BIG time.
3. No GDI, don't bullshit about our low fuel grade, look at all VW FSI turbo, all direct injection dude.
