I do not know and can't verify the prices in US for outgoing Forte and new K3 model.

However, I disagree on your notion that Naza is pricing the car higher simply because of greed.
The price increase in the new Cerato (K3) is justified as Naza has incorporated the following new specs, which are not found in the current Forte. Let's look at the 1.6L model for this study

1) New Dual CVVT Engine
2) Flex steer with 3 driving modes
3) Puddle lamp, pocket lighting
4) 6 airbags
5) Auto Cruise
6) Rear seat aircon vent
7) Motor Driven Power steering
8) Chrome belt line molding
9) Sliding center armrest
10) 4.2 inch dot matrix instrument cluster
11) 10 way power driving seat
12) Memory seat
13) Dual mode aircon
14) improved aerodynamics with rear under cover and air deflectors
15) Improvement in NVH, high noise absorption padding
16) Vehicle Stability Management

All these and numerous other improvement/enhancement to the body and class leading technologies which are even too technical to explain.  Can we seriously ask for all these features and yet expect Naza to sell at the same price as Forte?
*
Totally agree with Buydirect.
Tax for car is also different for each country and unfortunately car tax is quite high in Malaysia.
Another point that people need to take into consideration is inflation. Pay increase, cost increase and things understandably will increase too. rclxub.gif

"Improvement" is a very broad word. A new design itself, (without new technologies and spec) is also an improvement. Even a facelift, is an improvement. I would have to agree with you if this model is just a facelift of the current Forte, and not an entirely new one from ground up with at least 30 enhancements or new specs.

A case in point, when Naza launched the recent facelifted Next Gen Sorento, with 33 enhancements, they did not increase the price. So much for being greedy?

I do not know, if the tax/duty structure had a hand in the % of the price increase. If could be, since it is no longer batched as Naza. Just my 2cents.

QUOTE(NiCkY @ Jun 1 2013, 12:23 AM)
seems like a lot die hard japanese supporters who like to shoot korean, i also want to share my comment on korean car...
for those pioneer forte owner in lyn, u may knew me, cause last time i did tembak forte gao gao in the forte thread.  tongue.gif

btw, i grew up in a family which always own japanese car, currently parents driving camry and accord.
for myself, 1st car is a myvi, dun want talk much on this, as most of u know about myvi.  laugh.gif

in 2010, when i looking for a replacement, my budget was max 80K, and it must be a sedan, it was not much choices. due to my job, i handle toyota, honda, nissan and kia dealers, some 2nd hand car dealers and some japanese manufacturer. i need a sedan car as i always travel, sometimes need to pick up customer for entertainment. my yearly mileage hit around 60K, normally i will change my car in 3-4 years time.
that time in my shopping list, only 2 cars fit in, vios E and forte sx. both 81K.
after some consideration, mainly due to 2nd hand resale value, and "so called" trusted toyota quality, as my house hav camry, i went for vios. funny things is, my colleague bought a forte few months later, i was always laugh on him about the so called korean car nightmare, bad resale value, high FC, problems kao kao and etc.

now is already down the road for 3 years,
do i feel my vios really better compare to forte? nope. just like driving a "myvi sedan"... sweat.gif
do my vios problem free? nope. EPS problem (after claim new EPS still exist!), rattle noise @ dashboard, seat-belt buckle rattle, suspension rattle and etc.
do my vios handling good? nope, but it became a bit better after i low down the suspension with 16" rim.
do my vios FC good? YES! finally i agree on this, RM75 give me 580KM...  biggrin.gif

what my comment on forte? as i got the chance to drive it, not only once, mostly every week, as i need to go outstation with my colleague, sometime he will take my car, sometime i take his car...
the driving feel for forte is a C segment car, which vios never give u. talk about handling, of course civic fd win hand down, but forte better than altis a bit (tested by toyota sa). is it better than my vios? i would say yes. laugh.gif .... btw compare stock to stock.
power wise, only altis hav 1.6 model, some toyota sa did tried my colleague's forte, their comment is, "power not bad eh, about same with our altis 1.6". but if compare to civic 1.8 sure tak boleh.
FC, full tank get 530KM+-, lower than my vios, but is a C segment btw.
problem kao kao? not really, some rattle noise also, and some minor accessories problem, all fixed, btw mechanical parts still ok, running fine till today! shocking.gif

resale value? as my mileage now 170K, is time to change car already...  drool.gif
2 days earlier, had a happy hour session with one of my 2nd car dealer boss, asked him my vios trade in price, he only can quote me max 53-54K, as current vios giving 10K discount, this hurt vios 2nd hand value! at the same time, i did ask my colleague's forte, also year 2010, trade in price around 51-53K, i was wtf, forte 2nd hand price about the same with my vios.  doh.gif

for those who say korea car had a bad resale value, i would say yes, but only for those older model, new model is not...

if given me another chance to choose again for vios E and forte, i would take forte, no doubt...
times had changed, japan car not as strong as before, they were slowing down if u compared to last time, this is not good! even in electronic field, sharp manufacturer in batu pahat sold to taiwanese, due to the whole japanese electronic business were down, and marine shipment for japanese manufacturer were also cut down a lot! if continue like this, at de end japan will suffer...
only car cbu from japan were good, those ckd or import from thailand were so so only, another factor due to our beloved umw and honda malaysia, always give us low spec car, but sell high price!!!...  doh.gif

so do korea car so bad? if u compare based on price range, i would say nope, it may better than some other brand, but some ppl said, pls la, compare apple to apple. but if compare apple to apple, i already save up at least 10K-20K for the same segment cars, which i can spend these money on house, go for travel and etc, enjoy better quality life.

those are my 2 cents, some of u may disagree, but this kind of "war" is like iphone vs galaxy S, when i got my S2, a lot of my buddies and colleagues which using iphone shoot me sohai, bodoh; see my iphone more canggih, bla bla bla this and that...
until today, some of them change to samsung d...
now is my time to shoot back them laugh.gif

hope k3 will hav a right price, give a hit to those umw, honda malaysia and etc...

Good!!!

Will this car subjected to the 20-30% discount promise by gomen?
*
Try to read what they had said carefully. They said they will " ask" car manufacturers to reduce the price & the deduction to be spread over a 5years period. There was no mention on deduction of excise duty. 20-30% deduction on car price may sound good but I'm afraid it will remain a dream. The higher the expectation the bigger the disappointment. 20-30% deduction on the excise duty will be more realistic but the excise duty is only part of the cost of a car price and spread over 5 years period the deduction is quite small. hmm.gif hmm.gif
