If you were given a choice to choose again, which one would you go for?

Polo GTI - RM169,888
Passat Sport - RM190,967

Both having good year end promotion and i'm having a hard time to choose, hope someone can knocked me with some good senses and solve this damn dilemma.

Here's a simple scored card from myself.
Design: Polo GTI
Feature: Passat Sport
Value for $$: Polo Sport (after discount)
Space: Passat Sport
Driving experience: Polo GTI (Fun Factor)
Reliability: Passat Sport
Maintainability: Passat sport
Resell value: Polo Sport

Would like to hear it from the bros here, Many thanks!

Passat sport have 13k discount at glenmarie if i recall,
offer until end of this month

passat sport have auto folding, both front seats are electric, 18" and sunroof (can't slide back, just tilt)

don't bother with cc until they bring a 2.0 version la, 1.8 cc not on par with the old cc 2.0

1) Your age range. e.g. If you are single or 20+ years old, single driver and maybe with g/f or sometimes with few friends, then go for Polo GTI

2) If your family already have other cars, i.e. this car is mainly for you personally, Polo GTI

3) If family man, have kids or parents, or only car for whole family to drive around, need to use rear boot storage, Passat Sport.

Other than above, if you prefer slight luxury/big size/comfort - Passat Sport
If prefer spirited driving, fun, slightly cramp - Polo GTI

My 2 cents

Its a pocket rocket versus a family sedan. Both to suit different markets. Initial pricing (PGTI was less than RM140k) was spot on IMHO but thanks to the new tax revision, VW go screwed over here in Malaysia.

tenkiu ah jip kor brows.gif

personally i think now the polo gti price are over priced.
rather go for Golf just a 1 sec+ diff 0-100.

only the engine spec been tuned. no where else was upgraded. 160k+ I could find lots of car

yeah, i knew of the price hike. Thats my point, they increase the price to almost same as their own d-segment car. Well, heck, they can even comapre with their own c-segment(jetta) since they use the same engine to have a closer look. I knew abt the passat cc increase last time ard, but for this polo gti, its kinda irrelevant.

very true. not to bash or comment new owner of polo gti.

but 160k+. now matter how good the performance or handling. at the end still a subcompact hatch car unless was Audi A1
For me, performance is good but I still prefer a practical car since malaysia average income not par with oversea.

The Jetta is a cut down version, extremely low specs. The Polo GTI has a lot of extra items which is definitely worth it when it was priced at RM136k. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if a hatch back price is the same as the D-segment, they cater for different markets entirely.
