Just sent my golf gti for it's 1st service at wearnes jalan sungai besi on wednesday before going back to my hometown. The service is quite good. It took them around 3-4 hours for the service, cost is rm603.80 n i got a free complimentary car wash. After the service my car feels a bit faster, the brake is more responsive and it got like a new car's leather smell again.

Anyway, I'm thinking to modify my exhaust n do a straight pipe. Is that gona void my warranty?

I m driving the K5 , but if u can afford .. Take passat.. Grand brand car company, awarded engine ,less CC better performance , sure better comfort than K5 , just K5 more features than passat.

Correct me if I m wrong . nod.gif

Back from wearmes sg besi. Wamted to test drive the passat sport, but the SA there give us a VW CC to test drive claiming that it has the same engine.

The ride is so good! Servicing cost however is about 1k++ every service..

- full sport rim include spare wheel
- auto fold side mirror
- 10k interval service

Passat
- electronic hand brake
- tyre pressure monitor
- driver assist (drowsiness alert)
- front parking sensor
- cooling box
- 15k interval service

Passat is more powderful even lower rpm. accelerates also need to see on torque which Passat got 50+ nm.
Eg. BMW 320d only 184hp but torque 370nm........ fuuuuuu it will tear your face off when u pedal it hard.

hmm. But my mom do prioritize Resale Value.. so passat has a plus point here.

Comparing the K5 and Passat Sport. Not the normal ones.. The sport do have auto fold side mirror (this one should be standard in all cars now).

We use the car mainly for 100% city drive.. maybe go outstation 3-4times a year..

Most importantly, want a car that has a rattle free cabin, no squeak squeak noise. etc etc...

even BMW got rattles. depend your lemon lor.

resale value passat should be better than K5 nowaday but not CBU unit.
K5 i test drive also quite comfort. can say car above 100k nowaday less rattle or squeky sound.

Passat I do felt knocking sound from back bonnet. on bumpy road. not sure passat sport

no thanks. I have an uncle who works in senior management of "T" brand car.. His recommendation? Passat.

Also something funny I heard just now at the showroom, I think there's this guy who is considering the Jetta and the Ford Focus, heard the girl SA saying, Ford Focus no resale value la! VW Resale is high..

horsepower has nothing to do with acceleration, torque does.

K5
- rear view camera accessorie shop can do this for RM100
- panamoric roof having a glass roof instead of metal just equals more weight = slow = poorer fc
- push start / keyless entry pointless
- full electronic seat with memory on driver side (passat also only driver side)
- full sport rim include spare wheel lugging around a full spare tyre and rim equals more weight = slow = poorer fc
- auto fold side mirror
- 10k interval service
Passat
- electronic hand brake good for ladies
- tyre pressure monitor sometimes do more harm than good
- driver assist (drowsiness alert)
- front parking sensor very useful
- cooling box moderate usefulness
- 15k interval service

The cabin of the GLI features sport bucket seats with red stitching and a sport flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching, the GLI logo and aluminum accents. The overall interior styling consistently follows the sporty exterior lines of the car and includes a soft-touch dashboard and other premium interior trimming that were stripped out of lesser Jetta models for cost reasons.

The GLI is available in cloth or V-Tex Leatherette and also features alloy pedals, shifter, dash and door trim. To increase versatility, the rear bench seatback is split 60/40 and folds.

While lesser Jettas make do with a simple twist-beam rear axle for the latest generation (previously, all Jettas had a fully independent suspension), the GLI benefits a four-link independent rear suspension with an upgraded anti-roll bar. This setup helps the GLI hug the corners like a GTI with a trunk and avoid the somewhat imprecise handling of normal Jettas.

The GLI also accelerates like a GTI thanks to a powertrain taken directly from Volkswagen's sporty hatchback. Underhood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of torque that mates to either a satisfying six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission. The DSG comes with steering wheel-mounted paddles for sequential-style shifting and rev-matched downshifts, and for the latest model year the transmission gains launch-control for speedy acceleration runs.

Equipped with the DSG, the GLI is rated at 24 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway, while opting for the row-your-own option will mean trading one city mpg for an extra one on the open freeway.
