kyoto station-kinkakuji-umahori-torokko Kameoka -arashiyama-kyoto
start your journey at morning should be fine. (before 9am). I think you can do Kinkakuji & Ryoanji in the morning. spend ur noon time at arashiyama till evening. Arashiyama has a lots to see if you want to, or else just stick to the iconic place like Tenryuji, Bamboo Grove, Togetsukyo bridge, Daikaku-ji & Otagi-Nenbutsu-ji temple....

no worries, your iti is nice. you can add nanzenji and/or heian shrine to ur first day. if u walk from philpth, u will passby there. Walk straight from the entrance of nanzenji, you will see the Big Torii on ur right, from the giant torii, Heian shrine is just further a bit.

Kyoto is a walking tour.  thumbup.gif start jogging from now.. hehe!  laugh.gif

i put too much time for kinkakuji liao then lol cos not sure how much crowd is there.. ok i cut down 1 hour for other thing then biggrin.gif

including bus transit, is 2 hours enough for ryoanji and kinkakuji visit?

The 30 mins memang you can finish the stuff but the travelling there + waiting for bus/subway may take longer, so have to factor those in as well.

That and the fact that we're not familiar with the routes there will take us extra long to go from one location to another... like sometimes just standing in front of the board trying to figure out which way to go...etc.

Hi, I'm planning out a 1 day Hakone day trip for end of Oct.
Planning to get the Hakone free pass, and do the round course.
Any advice or pointers from anyone who done this before? How early to start, interesting places to visit and weather?

Thanks!

Can you advise the weather/temperature in Osaka this month?
Would it suffice to just wear jeans and long sleeve.

I dont want to overdressed and make myself look like an idiot with all winter clothing.

To those that have visited Japan,

I've bought a flight ticket to travel to Japan on April 2013. I'll be arriving in Osaka and departing back from Tokyo.
However, my main concern would be the radiation level in both Osaka and Tokyo. I've checked out in google on the recent radiation level in both of the cities and it was rated at a safe level as in it is parallel as New York City. But having said, every now and then I'll hear news from people stating their female friends that has just came back from Tokyo were detected to have a high radiation level in their body and was advised by the doctors not to conceive in 2-3 years.

Hence, for those that have recently been there, do you mind telling me on the current condition in Japan. Thanks

Well, was in Tokyo in Sept 2011. Feeling fine as usual. Never got sick (but then again i'm a strong person who doesn't get sick very often, even if i'm sick, will be ok within 2-3 days, never more than that).

However, not sure of my radiation level though.

If you were so worried by the radiation level, why did you buy the ticket in the first place? If so, might as well cancel your trip yea. Life's short, there's just too many things to do than worrying bout radiation level.

FYI, even if you're flying or using your phone or any electrical items, you are already exposed to low levels of radiation.

Edited to add: My friend with her husband and 6 yr old kid also chose to go back to Tokyo (after residing with her british husband in UK for the past few years).

For your friend's case, it's hard to say if she already has a radiation level before she left for Japan coz i bet that she didn't even get checked before she left right? So it's really hard to judge if she got it from Tokyo or from daily usage of the items that she use or the place that she works at.

Yea i know right.

For all they know, their level radiation level while still in Malaysia already high, they also dunno, due to them not checking it before they go overseas (just for comparison if really the radiation in Japan is high or not).

Radiation Levels in Japan - Link
Radiation Levels in Kuala Lumpur - Link

Radiation levels in KL are even higher but I don't see anyone panicking about it?
Radiation is everywhere, but unless you're visiting Fukushima area, I wouldn't worry about it.

i just came back from japan 2 weeks ago......oh my, i'm very scare right now, need to faster go doctor there and check........

........honestly, if you are really scare, then you shouldn't have bought the tickets, like they said.

I have traveled there alone, and before i went to japan, a lot of people asked me about this radiation thing. I was like who cares? No actual evidence or proof as well.

I went there, and i had the best trip of my life, and i swear that i will go back to japan again, dun care got radiation or not.

Yes. Temperature in daytime still under 20deg. It's also Sakura time which means quite peak tourist season though.
