QUOTE(eugene88 @ Jul 3 2012, 12:06 AM) Yes.. Strongly suggest to exchange if you still can (but they might not allow). Basically they're trying to clear off the Sigma or those old lenses. But the colours are a bit washed out ler Added on July 3, 2012, 12:31 amThere's a macro switch on the lens but it is only a lock for 200 to 300mm? Added on July 3, 2012, 12:34 amSo should I get an exchange to Nikon 55-300mm or just live with it? Some sigma lens does come with macro capability, which means, at least 1:3 magnification or higher. It's not true macro as in 1:1, it's not a macro lens, it never said it is, but it's like a bonus with some macro capability. I guess some people don't really understand the magnification, even with macro lens, it doesn't mean when you shoot, you always get 1:1 magnification. For this Sigma, tough, to get 1:3 magnification, you probably need to zoom to maximum and get to the closest focusing distance. |

Regarding the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG MACRO, i never used it, but just by doing some google search on some review sites, mostly give low score to this lens.
Not going to put more salt into pain. Go check them out. As for whether to replace or not. You call. Added on July 3, 2012, 10:43 amImo if really wanna buy Sigma, only buy those with EX This post has been edited by hidden830726: Jul 3 2012, 10:43 AM |

But even if it is 1/200s, indoor really GG since its a slow lens and not a big aperture like f/2.8. On f/2.8 I'm shooting easily 1/60~1/100 while pumping ISO up to 1600 already.maybe my hand is too shaky |

If @ 300mm and cant do 1/250s, the person need to relearn on how to do elbow to chest bracing and sniping breathing control. I handheld 300mm f/2.8 and can do 1/200s

Go Nikon Center at BTS and try the 80-200mm f/2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8, the heavy lens will give way better balance and way less shake; I have shaky hands, but with the 80-200mm, I can handheld at 1/30s @ 200mm, albeit not all shots are spot on. Changed to 55-300 @ 200mm, gosh, it's super shaky.maybe my hand is too shaky This post has been edited by Andy214: Jul 3 2012, 11:24 AM |

Orany other lens set at f4. Reason I take mostly indoor with low light and with no flash. I just want to try it out before rushing to get a f4 instead of tokina 11-16 f2.8 which should give better in low light. Why not u take tokina? it produces decent IQ..it's just that tokina doesn't have built-in focus motor..Thanks. Bt i've nt tried nikon 12-24 f4..
