QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Jul 3 2012, 12:00 AM) What do you mean by you got cheated? Did he tell you that the sigma was better? In which aspect?? If he said quality wise I think you got cheated.. Yes..Macro from sigma actually means closer Distances than the competitors but not much also..very common marketing by sigma and tamron Maybe the shop is trying to clear their quota for sigma lenses >.< But the colours are a bit washed out ler Added on July 3, 2012, 12:31 amThere's a macro switch on the lens but it is only a lock for 200 to 300mm? Added on July 3, 2012, 12:34 amSo should I get an exchange to Nikon 55-300mm or just live with it? This post has been edited by eugene88: Jul 3 2012, 12:34 AM |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jul 3 2012, 09:51 AM) Strongly suggest to exchange if you still can (but they might not allow). Basically they're trying to clear off the Sigma or those old lenses. I just bought it yesterday Some sigma lens does come with macro capability, which means, at least 1:3 magnification or higher. It's not true macro as in 1:1, it's not a macro lens, it never said it is, but it's like a bonus with some macro capability. I guess some people don't really understand the magnification, even with macro lens, it doesn't mean when you shoot, you always get 1:1 magnification. For this Sigma, tough, to get 1:3 magnification, you probably need to zoom to maximum and get to the closest focusing distance. Hope they can change cause the Nikon is 55-300 is cheaper by a bit |

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Jul 5 2012, 04:54 PM) Hey eugene! Maybe tomorrow or Sat cause quite bz recently..The seller is obviously lying.. 1st of all APO stands for APO (Apochromatic ) In order to attain the highest quality images, the APO lens has been made using special low-dispersion (SLD) glass and is designed to minimize color aberration. and for Sigma's version of Nikon's VR is "OS" OS (Optical Stabilizer Function) This function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating camera movement when shooting by hand held camera. http://www.sigmaphoto.com/sigma-lens-technology This is according to Sigma... Have you changed the lens yet? He even said got hypersonic motor in this lens but a quick Google search shows that this lens doesn't have any hypersonic motor Dunno if exchange lens need compensate money or not |
