Swimming pool is really hard to come by in Malaysia, because Malaysia is not a swimming friendly country, same goes to cycling etc. Unlike in the USA and Australia - Swimming pools. Swimming pools everywhere!

Condo pools usually are not rectangular pool, because most of them are designed for people to play water, hence it is not preferred for swimming laps. Serious swimmers usually will look for rectangular pool or at least Olympic-length pool. Finding an Olympic-size condo pool is like dredge for a needle in the sea. Go to public pool instead. But bear in mind most of them are not Olympic-size pool, they are just Olympic-length.

Yes, no new talent for the past 10 years. The Asian swimmers have improved by leaps and bounds as Japan and China usually rule the pool. If Malaysians can get medals in the Asean arena, it is good enough. Now we are lacking behind Singapore vastly due to the emergence of a new breed of powerful swimmers, mainly Joseph Schooling who can give the Japanese and Chinese top swimmers a run for the money.

Mind to tell which pool? Lol those peeps retarded or what? How can they didn't get it when you're already swimming for the fifth lap.
*
The simplest answer would be because they're idiots, hahaha.

It's at a condo in Dutamas, my sisters. Shape-wise it's pretty rectangle. About 40m in length, not deep though. About my shoulder height i.e. around 1.5m or so. Length wise nice to swim though.

Haha! the competitive swimmer was a long long long long loooooooooooong time ago. After I stopped, i immediately gained so much weight and very hard to even catch up to that speed anymore. And now it's freaking hard to lose those fats, have to rely on diet really. 30% exercise and 70% diet.

That's the reason I stay in the condo in the first place. the facilities are all in place. xD  icon_rolleyes.gif

Well that's... pretty looong time lol biggrin.gif
Never too late, you pretty much got the right idea, diet does play a huge part in weight control.
For me, if exercise doesn't cut it, control the diet, and vice versa, has to be balance to see the outcome.
And taking food before bed time and gobble up lots of food in one meal are also bad eating habits that may lead to undesired weight gain... or so i believe rolleyes.gif
And utmost, the lesson learned from you, do not stop swimming for too long, LOL biggrin.gif
Damn, I gotta find a way to get back into swimming blush.gif

To be honest, when I weigh myself, the scale doesn't seem to drop, but the changes on the body is very obvious, like it's more toned. Also, when you wear your clothes, that one you will know cause things are looser. Most importantly is that you will feel healthier and more confident. That feeling is awesome!

I have started taking coconut oil, two spoons in the morning. Apparently it helps to fight abdominal fats which is very hard for me to lose them because I am a woman and apparently we are genetically designed to have more fats on that area to protect babies. hmm.gif That's according to a few articles i read online and also my colleague who works as part time trainer. So she recommended me trying coconut oil. Besides that, it really has lotsa other benefits!

Diet is so hard to control honestly, haha! I couldn't stop my craving but I did cut off rice from my diet. And also I eat late, because after swimming, it's already about 8PM. And also I work in fast food industry! Haha!

I am glad that you all are starting to work out again! Keep us updated of your progress! rclxms.gif

Retired long time ago. Last time I heard he was a coach training the elite kids. Not too sure what he is doing right now.

IMHO, as long as your weight is correct based on BMI you're fine, don't focus on the numbers, but what's inside those numbers, muscle or fat.

I place muscle building as one of the important keys. Yes, women should do some weight training too. Your muscles will burn all your extra calories even while you're watching drama. Then top it off with core exercises and cardio. Diet is to control your calories intake so you get into caloric deficit. But diet isn't so easy as you'll end up hungry and might even get more sickness if not properly planned.

I don't like weight training cause I know I won't keep up with it. HAha! I used to want to jog to lose weight but after a few days I gave up. Then I realized it's because I hate the activity so much. I love swimming and it's easier to make it a habit than jogging. I think swimming also builds muscles, no? It's a whole body workout and as far as I am concerned, weight training or not, I am swimming about 4KM per week, it might sound very less to some people but at least I am not a couch potato! And I am increasing the distance slowly. Used to be able to do 2KM per week only icon_rolleyes.gif

I know right?

Let me go check out the pool one morning this weekend to verify the working hours. Saw from all sorts of post online it closes at 5 pm. Hoped it has changed.

I ended up swimming in Chin Woo yesterday.

Got a name card for instructor, Ching Guan, anyone knows him? Is he good?

Planning to improve my freestyle strokes with some guidance and hopefully manage a duathlon next year.

So hopefully can get some tips here.. haha

Alex Lim just appeared on the media lately. As expected, he has retired from competitive swimming, and he has gained some weight too after almost 2 decades I've seen him as a young boy.

When he was competing in 2003:-

Back in 1992 or 1993 when I saw him as a kid, he was already a champ in his age-group, always getting gold medals with fast blistering swims. Time really flies.
