Howdy, new here btw!

So guys, have you been to Kelana Jaya Municipal Pool? How will you rate it, compared to 3K Sports Complex pool for those who'd been to both locations?

So far I was told that the former is an Open pool, while the latter is an indoor one.

Haven't had time to check out any of them due to time constraint and other activities (and I just barely learned swimming at a school for a year). Now I am more comfortable to go by my own (of course, would be nicer there are kakis). So I'd like to set a day each week and pick one of these two. I live in Klang btw. The first one is easier to access for me but if the latter turns out better, I may as well go there (I am never fond of Open pool from the experience at Sunway Lagoon... Peeps just drop in water with their T-shirts on, blah blah you know).

Please kindly provide an opinion.

Thank you. Have a good day.

3k pool close for renovation?

I also noticed 3K was sealed off when I drove by recently... the whole place looked run down now really... trying to find any sign as I slowly drove through the traffic but didn't see any notice about its fate... unsure.gif

After three months of swimming about 3~4 times a week, started with only 350M each session... Now i can finally swim at least 700M per session without stopping! I am using Garmin Swim to track. Really happy that I have made this a habit, can feel my body starting to tone and I sleep better, feel more confident about myself generally! I don't get headaches/migraine so often anymore! Problem is I haven't really lost weight cause never control my diet. LOL! But most of my clothes and pants are starting to become really loose.

For those who are about to start swimming, take that first step. It's gonna be hard in the beginning, your heart is going to pump so fast like you are going to die and your muslces will be sore. But it will be worth it in the end, just keep doing it and don't give up! smile.gif
*
Yeah, before I knew swimming, I thought I'd never love it...

Now I have learned how to swim... I just like it better than hiking and running biggrin.gif ... not so much about to keep fit, but rather it's an exercise that you won't get tired and feel more refreshed after. Didn't need a gadget to track, just swim until the life guard kick me out of the pool rolleyes.gif or the crowd push me out of the lanes vmad.gif
Well, the main problem, for people not living in condo, swimming pool is just hard to come by, not every community gets a pool and, many times have to get miles away out for a pool and hope that it is not crowded shakehead.gif ...

That's really good! Congratulations!
Though swimming actually makes me tired because I push myself faster and faster. It's a good sports, low impact and all.
*
You just have too much energy to spend after work or you aiming for competitive swimming? laugh.gif
Yup, low impact overall, and helps easing back problem. Exception is butterfly stroke, which can be stressful on back especially for those with back issues like myself blush.gif ...

Not really, more like i like it when my heart is pumping!  rclxms.gif
But i am just really glad that I pick up swimming again after for so long. I am trying to reserve the aging effect by exercising instead of relying on chemicals! blush.gif
*
Oh wow, haha, I was reading so fast that I thought you wrote reverse the aging effect tongue.gif ! Hehe, well don't forget the chemicals in the pool though rolleyes.gif
So you didn't just start learning swimming... Speak of trying to go back into swimming, I just learned the closest pool from my place is closed for reason I can't seem to find doh.gif bummer yawn.gif

QUOTE(air_mood @ Jun 25 2015, 12:26 PM)
The problem with condo pools though is there's usually quite a number of people who come there just to lepak or splash around. Fine if they're doing it at the side, but those splashing about in the middle, disturbs people who are doing laps. It becomes and obstacle source instead trying to swerve and avoid them. Just had one last Monday when I was doing laps there was this bunch of Pinoy ladies not doing anything but just standing in the middle and chatting. It's very irritating.
*
You could just free-style like newbie as you get closer to them, get rough with the pool water... the splash, the noise, hope they find that entertaining thumbup.gif

Sorry about my typo, it's actually reverse, I wrote reserve instead. Nope. i didn't just start learning to swim, my parents made me and my siblings learns swimming since very young. And in the primary school i used to swim for districts, so i used to train like everyday and then my parents made me stop during puberty and i started gaining weight like crazy. Since i have shifted to the condo, also in the food industry I am working in, and not forgetting the slowing metabolism, I decided to pick it up again.  rclxms.gif One good thing about my condo is that the management controls the cholorine amount in the pool, they put lesser than those public pools.
*
shocking.gif So ya used to b a competitive swimmer!!? I see!
Food industry... you meant you test eating food?? blink.gif Oh well, now that explain why...
how nice having pool in condo, no hassle of parking, traveling, fees and chlorine OD... Guess I shall just swim in my water tank... blush.gif

QUOTE(air_mood @ Jun 26 2015, 03:00 PM)
Well, I purposely kicked hard, got my legs out of the water. They only got the hint after 5 or 6 laps. 1 off incident maybe. Pool was clear when I went yesterday. Here's hoping it's clear today as well.
*
Should just go with butterfly stroke, torpedo style if they thought you were just kicking water and playing with them...
Bet no gal would just stand there watching an "impending collision" unless she was intending to let you jump on her!

Haha! the competitive swimmer was a long long long long loooooooooooong time ago. After I stopped, i immediately gained so much weight and very hard to even catch up to that speed anymore. And now it's freaking hard to lose those fats, have to rely on diet really. 30% exercise and 70% diet.

That's the reason I stay in the condo in the first place. the facilities are all in place. xD  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Well that's... pretty looong time lol biggrin.gif
Never too late, you pretty much got the right idea, diet does play a huge part in weight control.
For me, if exercise doesn't cut it, control the diet, and vice versa, has to be balance to see the outcome.
And taking food before bed time and gobble up lots of food in one meal are also bad eating habits that may lead to undesired weight gain... or so i believe rolleyes.gif
And utmost, the lesson learned from you, do not stop swimming for too long, LOL biggrin.gif
Damn, I gotta find a way to get back into swimming blush.gif

I just notice when I passed by 3K Sport Complex subang that some renovation has been worked on it after being "desolated" for quite some times...
It seems it will reopen any time soon...? hopefully. Or anyone knows about its progress & details?

Try go to DSwim Kampung Pandan, it is an indoor pool too. I can say the pool is not bad, only the shower place door broken.  doh.gif
*
Kampung pandan s too far in KL sweat.gif, definitely not going there after work... I actually will pass by Kelana jaya and 3K on the way home, so I have Kelana Jaya as alternative, just that it's outdoor, but matter not for swimming in the evening (Shah Alam panasonic may be another, just need to do some detours) smile.gif

Just came back from 3k.

p/s: Is UiTm pool for their own students and staff only? I went inside and kena halau straight. The polis there say you suka suka masuk ah?  sweat.gif
*
You may want to ask student from there... at least heard from a friend studied in UKM, its pool does open to public at certain days & time for some entrance fees, so guess it depends on the institution or just the polis you ran into was ignorant? who knows...

Hi all, beginner here..want to check what is normal public pool depth? especially if anyone has been to public swimming pool at putrajaya... just starting to learn swimming, try to go those not so depth pool for practice, pool that I cannot stand up is still too freaky for me now..
*
I can tell you it's much harder to look for public pool that offer full pool where you must constantly stay afloat... oh wait, what's your height? standard depth would be around my rib height, around 3~4 ft?

hmm .. some how can say so la .. but still possible to happen ..
cause 3K subang jaya still need to access card (rm3 something will deduct from the amount reloaded to card) to enter the swimming pool area ..
so .. staff and member may enter .. so ......
*
Wow, i haven't been visiting 3K since a year ago when they reopened it then closed again... I thought they upgraded a lot of stuffs but now this... I guess they still have a lot to do.. Sorry to hear that... so ahhh, since you did not lock the locker, I bet the staffs probably just shunned it as it's your own responsibility for the theft?

Anyway, I now swim at panasonic pool, it's so much nicer compared to 3K, should check this out instead!

I love 3K when it's not crowded. when it's, the pool will be weird.

I am pretty sure any crowded pool will give the same feeling biggrin.gif ...

Anyway, still fond of Panasomic pool that I could not find reason going back to 3K, well, and it's further from my home...

Haha, but you'd better tip him which spot to swim and which killer spot to avoid...

there are some infamous spots with tragic history of drowning, ya know, i forgot name of a beach there, it was on news twice last year due to two incidents only few month apart...

PADE, yes, 2 pools outside. one is for recreation, another is olympic size but the depth is quite shallow.
Whereas inside there's one with 10m depth and also olympic size pool with the same depth.
Selangor diver and swimmer train there.
*
Oh, I see, thanks for info, though i just knew it as Shah Alam aquatic center

only been there once, haven't tried the indoor facility, but one thing for sure, if one is a serious swimmer, even for beginners, never go for outdoor, mostly ended up just soaking in water biggrin.gif
