I see, never know that disc also need to change. Any recommendation for my friend to change his disc?
Bro,just to clear your confusion on brake pad/disc.The pads are fixed on a metal base plate by 2 studs. As the pads wear off during use, they should be changed before the holding studs can be seen visually. These studs are also metal. People often forget to change worn off pads, now the metal studs start scratching the disc and circular groves appear on the disc. If the scratch groves are not too deep, the disc can be skimmed ( a thin layer shaved off to make the surface smooth ). If the groves are too deep, then the disc has to be changed.
Your friend just forgot about the brake pads and only decided to look at it when a screeching sound appears during breaking. This is when the metal studs come into contact with the disc during breaking. Even that he delayed, cos early detection can save the disc by skimming.
Make sure your pads are changed timely, which will only cost a few hundred. This way your brake disc will last to 100K and save you few thousands!
