Ask your neighbours of their experience and how long before they change. Certain areas they clog fast and membrane works well. Personally I lean towards leaving the chlorine intact all the way and cutting it out at usage point like shower or kitchen (esp washing vege). membrane usually replaced every 3-5 years depending on dirt and water pressure loss. The downside of sand media is having little grit finding their way to the tangki which does not happen with membrane. Those may clog showerheads. Usually I combine first installation with a tangki wash. My installer does both.

finally bought Alphamax A0845 outdoor water filter. RM 2399 with lifetime warranty for body, 3yrs warranty for stainless steel valve (they claim its free upgrade during the promo and worth rm300). Installation included.

The salesman claim no maintenance required except the backwash every 2 weeks. I'm google and the info correct eventhough some other salesman mention that not logic if totally no maintenance for water filter. Its make sense but salesman counter back saying that different sand type they using and how the unit perform backwash. top down. I'm happy as long no rusty color water coming into my house and manufacturer willing to give longer warranty. That mean they confident with the product.

Initial want to buy AP902 or Nesh membran but after considering cost of maintenance and water pressure concern, i choose this alphamax.

As we know got 3 type of outdoor water filter. My priority is unit that not filtering chlorine (afraid my tank getting worst) and less maintenance. I'm target to used at least 10 yrs. so its about RM 240 per year. Acceptable cost for me.
Maybe those who already used this brand can also comment their experience. So whoever survey outdoor water filter  may consider this product or not..

better get the info right as http://www.alphamaxind.com/wt1.html official website the model is A0840 not B. Moreover, went to check the website the B0840 comes with CARBON while the Alphamax A0840 is same as Perfect Steel using Micro Z media with NSF not carbon.

Actually we did discuss about this before, why some stainless steel sand filter so cheap and why some so expensive.
When a product is too cheap compared to normal market price, usually i will be extra careful and check the details.

Here is one of them
For perfect steel brand, here is how to differentiate CHina or Malaysia 1. As u can see, the China tank on the left has rusted

When i click on the water-filter.com i could not find the detail information on the filters. May be i overlook it or it wasnt there. For perfect steel, here is the online catalog, if compare it is the same as Alphamax original models

Opacity is the key. Some poor fiberglass casing is not very opaque, hence sunlight can penetrate. That means, algae can thrive within the filter.

It is not recommended to have carbon as well for landed properties to protect our water tank from bacteria. You can consider perfect steel sand filter

Just get the normal fiber sand filter type will do. Make sure it is using dark color, blue are nice thumbup.gif
Using carbon or activated carbon filter are not a good idea sweat.gif
Using outdoor filter that boast can remove all impurities are more dangerous as it is a good algae and bacteria growth.
Carbon filter you need to regenerate it every now and then. You need to use acid and alkaline to do the job. Safer will be using vinegar and salt but less effective.

Perfect Steel stainless steel sand filter for outdoor + Aquaphor Crystal Eco for indoor. However, price is only until this saturday as price will increase next month due to currency drop. You can place a deposit to book it and install later in August.
