hi all,

i have read through the whole tread, from 2012 til the last Jul 2015. but some details about filters are not so clear.
As in the market, outdoor filter have few types, Ultrafiltration membrane filter, sand filter, and like 3M, not a membrane nor sand type.
what is the maintenance between these three types? 3M require to change cartridge every year, sand filter is backwashed hence it only require to change sand after 3 years. Then how about membrane filter? is it maintenance free?
Besides that, i looked through the spec UF membrane filter and most of membrane pore size is 0.01 microns. is this meaning that after install membrane filter we don't have to install indoor water filter as 0.01 microns have already closed to RO water? in term of water pressure, which is better?
i do not really recommend to drink RO water because it is too clean that nothing is inside, my personal opinion. but, how about 0.01 microns? is it still sustaining the minerals inside? hope someone could answer. tq tq..

Basically any rm300-1000 sand filter are good enough already. If your incoming water too clean, it will promote algae growth on the stagnant parts.

Well, Syabas's water only using simple filtration and adding chlorine. So we need to filter any solid dirt before entering our house.
We only need "clean" water for drinking unless having skin issues on the water used for bath.

Some traces of chlorine won't give trouble, but getting pure H2O sure will make us spend more money on hospitals whistling.gif

Hi! I am staying in condo. I have already had a drinking water filter at home. Now i plan to install another outdoor filter which is for washing / taking bath. Coz the incoming water is too brownish and even my white clothes turn into yellow clothes after washing..... My drinking water filter also bcum dirty
I need a not too big one which can be installed at the main pipe outside my house and no need too frequent maintenance on it. Plus, maintenance costs must be not too costly...
Can anyone recommend?

Zheilwane,
I'm considering a washable prefilter to be installed before 3M AP902 bought from your shop at Kepong recently. Read somewhere that this will help to protect the 3M outdoor filter in case of dirty syabas water especially after water cut. Please quote your best price for the prefilter by PM. Thanks.

Based on my opinion there is no point installing a pre-filter. Customers got AP902 because of the easy maintenance (no need backwash) and the small size. If you install a prefilter, the whole system will look bulky and ugly. It will also be troublesome to clean or replace the prefilter regularly. Hence, defeating the purpose of getting 3M AP902. If there is water disruption, usually SYABAS will send us a notice and do turn off the water supply and remove the cartridge. Once u r back from work, turn on the valve, let the dirty water flow out then only install back the cartridge.

These prefilters used to be very popular back then but maintenance is too troublesome, that is why people switch it sand filter and also 3M

If your 3M got clogged due to the SYABAS water cut, call us and i will teach you how to do a simple manual backwash. However, preventing it by taking out the cartridge is better than cleaning it
