Anyone know where can find rental car for long period? At least 3months, and the estimate rate..
*
I am a regular to the Island of Langkawi, I rent my car from a local regular, a friendly Chinese guy. Very helpful throughout my stay in Langkawi. If you are still interested in a long period car rental, do let me know, I will try to contact the person for you.

Hi

Can we book a king size bed room and accommodate 4 adults in it?
The extra two may sleep on an extra bed and a sofa. Is that fine?

Sorry if the question sound stupid.
*
Why not look for a cheaper hotel? or what's your budget on the Hotel?
Maybe I can recommend you some..

Guys,I planned to have a trip with my gf on this upcoming holiday around 11th nov till 16th nov.
Due to the laziness tongue.gif ,i would like to ops for a tour package which included:

Basically,

1.3D2N of a decent hotel
2.a car/vehicle
3.breakfast included

preferrable if included,

1.tour provided to certain attraction (ie:langkawi cabal car, pulau payar and etc)
2.dinner/lunch
3.return ticket for the ferry from kuala kedah
4.any other interesting activities (perhaps diving,jungle trekking ? )

Most importantly, all of them budget around RM 300-600 for 2 person.(cheaper is better) thumbup.gif
Any suggestion or idea would be helpful~ rclxms.gif
thx~

Langkawi is a very easy place to explore on your own. I always go there and stay in a specific Budget Hotel. The Chinese Owner there is very friendly and helpful, I will just ask them where to go, what to eat, and he will point me at the right direction. And he have some contacts for small fun fishing trips, eagle feeding and snorkeling!!
(LESS headache and hassle)

I believe you just have to trust the locals, talk to them and have fun! That's how the Angmoh goes for holiday.

hi Untitled2,

what budget hotel can you recommend? smile.gif
*
Lol, i gonna sound like I am a hotel agent for them..

I know the owner of Cocotop Hotel in Kuah town, I normally stay there and travel out to Langkawi for holidays.
The room is fairly small and you may not be expecting top class stay! But the best thing i like about that hotel is
that the bedsheets they use is the white type. I think its the same type as the 3 star hotel.
(At least it's clean and nice to sleep on)

FREE WIFI is available too.
Also the Uncle owner there will let me know what's new in town or where to go and eat. Sometimes he will arrange
snorkeling trips at cheaper rate. (If it's not peak seasons.)
If you will want to go fishing, he has some contacts too! (it's for noob fishing, but should be able to catch some fish)

No breakfast provided. Why get hotel breakfast when you can go out for some ikan bakar breakfast or other local
delights!

Don't get your hopes too high on the Hotel though, it looks a little like a motel.

Note that the hotel is in town, if you are looking for some beachsides, you may look for those at Pantai Cenang.

My every visit to Langkawi, always go for that Hotel because I am not the type that like the watersports activities
there. I go to other beach for swims (cleaner waters) I will only go to Cenang for their large variety of food and
Sunset.

I'll get back to you once I confirm that I'll be there for long term.. Not sure yet

Anyway, thanks bro CHEER :-)
*
Haha No worries.
I can't post his number too openly because he only rents his car to certain people. Are you heading there for work or something? Long term sounds like you are going to be stuck there! lol

Yah, Pantai Cenang isn't a place to go for a dip. That beach is too crowded with people all year long especially holidays. Option for Island hopping for better beach experience or go to Pantai Tengkorak (Can BBQ Here but bring your own food and charcoal) or there's a few secluded beaches near Black Sand Beach.

Holiday Seasons = lots of dirty water and malays washing picnic plates at the sea =(

BTW, remember to drop by Perdana Quay/telaga harbour park for some nice holiday photos with the yatches!

I believe the maintenance is quite a big job, newspaper say it will only reopen next year, it has been down for not less than 7 months. I have reason to believe that there's structural damage.

Hi, is the car rental and tour package still can get easily during super peak season? Coz i planning to go during CNY 2013. Thanks
*
Car rental are available at cny too. Too many car rental operators in Langkawi already. As for tour packages, it won't be cheap unless you are a pro haggler. That is if u mean mangrove and snorkeling packages.
There ain't many tour packages with bus and tour guides there, if u are looking for something like that

Hey guys, do Langkawi there travel agency provide 1 day tour to koh lipe island hopping?
*
Koh Lipe.
It's pretty simple to walk around there.. You will not need a travel agency because you can literary walk around there or just hop a ride on the motorcycle taxi there.
It's dangerous to travel during monsoon/rainy season, do take note. Had a bad experience. I might know some local who can get you the boating ticket to the island. PM me if you would really like to know.

Hi guys

Im planning a proposal at Langkawi during the month of April 2014. So will be bringing over some friends to go with me together.

Altogether there will be 7 person in total, I'm looking to rent a villa that can fit everyone inside, with a private pool and is walking distance to the beach.

Anyone has any recommendations? My budget is not more than 1k per night.

Thank!
*
Proposal! If you need any custom made cakes, here's a good option you can consider.
I might even be able to get you some discount since i know the boss there.

He can offer your car rental. Might need to book earlier maybe can get cheaper. I dunno what car is available.
If your taking a car from him, he might be able to check out some hotels for u too. He is a local, may have contacts to get cheaper.

Hi guys,

I have booked a flight to Langkawi for 28th Feb to 3rd of March (4D3N). This is a family trip and I m taking my 2 sons along (6yo and 3 yo) hence I would like to stay in a hotel/ resort with a decent swiming pool and a beach.

Seems like most beach front resorts are RM500 above, is there any that is within RM300+?

I plan to rent a car for the duration of the trip and do some sightseeing (light since the 2 boys would not be able to exert themselves).

Would appreciate some suggestion on where to stay and some activities.

TQVM

Cable car, Pantai Cenang, Mangrove tour is a bit tough for young kids, Pulau Payar are musts

Other attractions available are like,
Waterfalls, there will only be water during rainy seasons.
Island Hopping, choose the ones without Dayang Bunting. Gonna be hard for u to hike with small kids.
Marina Quay has a nice scenery.
Dataran Lang, at Kuah a symbol of Langkawi
Mahsuri Tomb, tourist attraction.
Langkawi Bird park
Underwater world
Buffalo Park, nthg much to see
Hot Spring, I kinda hate this place.
Telaja Tujuh, quite some walk required.
Gallery perdana, hmm, u gotta like artifacts n historical stuffs to like this place.
Black Sand beach, I normally go for coconuts only here. Free attraction place. I passby this place to visit a secluded beach nearby.

Food at orkid Ria; great place for fresh n affordable seafood. Eating here won't go wrong or drop me a pm n I will pass the message to the boss itself

Tqvm.

Which hotel would you prefer at rm350  per night?

As for car rental, it seems the smart money is to rent on the spot w/o booking (can haggle abit). Anyhow thanks for the info.
*
Hotel at RM350 if you need a swimming pool and beach front, the options aren't that big. To me, there's 3 major beach in Langkawi. Pantai Cenang, Tanjung Rhu and Datai Bay.

In term of price range, you can probably option for Pantai Cenang area budget hotels. Can't expect much of quality at that price. You can get a reasonable rate beach front there! (If you are looking for the feeling where you can dress in swimwear and run to the beach, just go for those cheap beach front chalets, but most of them doesnt have swimming pool) Other than that, you might be looking at a very expensive price for quality beachfront and resort environment for Tanjung Rhu or Datai Bay.
(I heard Malibest is quite good. for budget Pantai Cenang)
Oh btw, Pantai Cenang today.... sigh, isn't too much of a beach you can swim in.

If i want a good cosy environment and more "luxury" kinda holiday stay, I may option for non-beach front hotels. You can probably look them up agoda or other hotel sites with photos to judge the quality. They are probably more affordable for something sweet and nice. Just try to avoid those Kuah town hotels, they are pretty bad for value.
1-2 year ago, I was able to get Resort World at RM250 per night last time, Pelangi Rm350.. Seriously all these hotel sites and recent increase in living standard really create a fake increase in prices. At times (Don't risk doing it) visitors can get cheaper rates through the hotel lobby itself.. Hotels are paying 30-50% of their room rates to the hotel sites. (Insider information). So, it's hard for me to recommend the hotels since they are so overprice from the last time i knew.. I would have check if any agents can give good rates on these hotel but doesn't have enough time.

As for car rental, probably I use to get it off the person I know, I won't have to haggle and normally they offer the better rates. Because these sales agents/middleman are renting the cars for other people. Which is why there's 2 type of car rental. (Official and Private). Official car rentals are more expensive to rent to maintain their business and licenses. I normally rent from non-official/private individuals. It's cheaper and also I rent directly from the person than agents =)

recomended honeymoon at langkawi? anyone can share smile.gif

Langkawi honeymoon. Hmm. It really depends on how much luxurious feeling u want from the whole experience. It could be a great one or just be a normal family holiday depending on how you plan it.

Staying in a 4-5 star hotel n enjoy the facilities n private beaches will have the most n best experience u can get. Swimming pool, spa and relaxation, snorkeling n diving, kayaking.

Other activities outside could feel very cheap. The commonly known n famous beach of jln Pantai Cenang is kinda like a budget street or food street. Probably not so much of great place for full flex luxury experience.
