Hi Guys,
I just placed a booking for a K5 and should be getting the car within the next 2 - 3 weeks. I was wondering how is the power like of the 2.0 in a body such as this. I managed to test the car during the roadshow in BU a month back. the accelaration from slow speed seems ok but i didnt really manage to go above 90 so was wondering after this speed, would the acceleration be still acceptable? My wife has a Forte 2.0 wit the single cvvt engine and on that car, its fast and responsive though engine sounds very unrefined, just not too sure how would it perform on the K5's body. Any inputs will be appreciated. QUOTE(joonnyx @ Apr 30 2012, 11:32 AM) Hi Guys, generally, u can't expect a 2.0 car without turbo to have a great acceleration. For me, the car is good enough as I have set my expectation to be within the normal D segment range. Btw, my car is pretty new clocking 400km only and many says it would be better after 1st service at 1000km. I just placed a booking for a K5 and should be getting the car within the next 2 - 3 weeks. Well, make it simpler if u have tested a similar 2.0 category of D segment: - camry 2.0 is much less responsive - about the same like accord 2.0, K5 plus point is you can play around with the paddle shift to make it much more responsive - heavy footed during normal driving will cause a quick gear change to low and causing sudden high rev. Best play with paddle shift when overtaking to avoid this happening. - don't ever compare with passat, a4, mondeo, 508 which all carrying a turbo. You are then comparing apple and durian. |

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 29 2012, 01:12 AM) But 1 thing which caught my attention before and it did again this time was the audio system. Despite all the correct settings, i didnt get the surround sound experience. Most of the sound seemed to be coming from the front speakers. A sound setting at 6 would be just nice for the front but rear passengers would probably hear it as a 3 or 4. I only got the surround sound feeling when i adjusted the fader and put +3 for the rear. Doesnt seem right at all. Are you guys experiencing the same? By the setting (fader at “0”), it’s standard for stereo set up (for songs) which the sound direction is from front but if you are really a movies kaki, surrounds is a must especially when you are really addicted with DTS and listening to the songs with stereo will felt something missing. |

QUOTE(irangan @ Apr 29 2012, 05:20 PM) About the fuel tank, you sure about the fuel tank. The max I pump before is 68ltrs and that's also after driving for another 20km when the re fuel warning is on. Very sure. Thats the first thing i tested. But did u fill right to the brim or did u stop after the first click stop of the pump? This post has been edited by cybermaster98: May 1 2012, 11:23 AM |

Guys u should check out the American NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website on the safety ratings for various cars.
http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shoppers/5...-Newer+Vehicles Our Optima got a 5 Star rating on all aspects including frontal, side and rollover impact. Beat even the new BMW 5 Series & upcoming 2012 Toyota Camry which scored only 4 stars in frontal impact (rest 5 stars). Mazda 6 fared even worse in frontal impact with only 3 stars. VW Jetta also didnt fare well with only 4 stars for frontal and rollover impact with an overall 4 star rating only. Passat 1.8TSI got 4 stars for rollover impact while 5 stars for the rest. Also the Kia Sportage performed better than the BMW X3 & new Range Rover Evoque in the 2011 Euro NCAP results scoring higher ratings for adult, child and safety. http://www.euroncap.com/results/kia/sportage/2010/414.aspx Kia should market these safety ratings better. Note: For your info, the American NHTSA and Euro NCAP ratings are the best in the world but there are differences between these 2 so you cant really take 1 to be better than the other. For instance, the NHTSA frontal crash speed is 57kmph while the Euro NCAP is 64kmph. But side impact, NHTSA is 62kmph while Euro NCAP is only 50kmph. Other safety ratings from Japan and Australia are a step lower than these 2. This post has been edited by cybermaster98: May 1 2012, 11:14 AM |

QUOTE(DJSoo @ Apr 30 2012, 05:19 PM) Rim only not so bad(go change the spare one la). Me first Week go langar the side bending at Jusco, scarching the btm and rim a bit. Then only i found out btm part is like spoiler, plastic, can change 1. About the grip, this Nexen tire only good if the road is smooth. I test go up Genting and come down genting very enjoyable. If the road jumpy then the stearing also follow jump like can feel the road surface. Maybe can make a Teh Tarik session at Genting Sampah Station, then all drive up genting lol. Regard the Power, don't put so high expectation la.. wan fight 2.4 sure cannot lo. Malaysian K5 is not for pickup speed. |

Question: I'm not a speedster so pickup speed and power is not an issue to me. My only concern is the FC. If the ECO mode is switch on all the time (whether city or highway driving) would it make a difference in FC and would it cause any damage to the car?

Best i tried was 580km with ECO mode on during traffic jams only. However, FC really did improve with higher mileage. I dislike ECO mode, it makes the car lazy and draggy, so i turn it off all the time. Added on May 1, 2012, 5:00 pm Good idea, looking forward to it..... BTW, i need an answer pretty urgently, now that i've clocked 5250km and next service is 5000km. So does it mean i must send the car in for service now? or do they mean first 1000km + another 5000km = 6000km for the second service? Things to do: 1) 5000km service 2) Complain bout the noisy sunroof 3) Complain bout the noisy leather seat 4) Complain bout the sharp edges on the steering wheel 5) Tear off all the plastic wrappers Damages on the car thus far: 1) Paint chip at the edge of the boot lid. It looks like some heartless monster hit it with a brick. Lucky the lid is not dented. Now i'm looking for touch up paint to cover it before it rusts, can anyone recommend where to buy? I reckon PG color touch up is not available yet in our market, so after a week of intense study and random comparisons, i found that the closest matching color is the dark grey E90 BMW and the dark grey I-Vtec Honda City. 2) Paint chip at the edge of the front passenger door, somebody knocked the door on the curb or something. |

Happen to me once everything light up but wander why the car won't move in the middle of the road. How come they ask me come for service after another 10,000 km ? |
