First 200km was a highway drive at 140kmph without eco. Then the next 250 was city driving with eco. Then came another 200km highway drive without eco at 140-150kmph. Total mileage is 650km and ive still got 2 bars left on my fuel gauge. Will update final range when i fill up sometime this week. But yes the car consumes much more during city driving despite the eco mode.
Just an update. I have now reached 720km with my first full tank of Ron95 with about 50-50 mix driving. The warning light came on when distance to empty was 70km which i think is way too early. Then the distance went blank below 50km (i dont know why they set it this way). But according to earlier readings, i should be able to easily go another 30km before i run out of fuel. Will test it today.

I also rechecked my receipt earlier n found that i had filled in RM 143.79 or 75.6L of fuel in my first full tank to the brim.

So far i dont think anybody has driven 100% highway. We run out of highways before the tank is empty! rclxms.gif

be careful with the last 50km, as i mentioned before, it is quite accurate..i did embarrassed myself when i tanked out and had to stall my car roadside, luckily nearby house...

i think regardless if the tank is long neck or not, the nozzle at the petrol station works on pressure switch...once the petrol level in the tank reaches the limit, the nozzle will auto trigger cut..unless, u pull your nozzle out a bit, and keep pumping in petrol...

and the 5liter or more probably is the reserve tank other than the actual 70liter tank, hence u get 70+ liter when u pump in, OR the calibration on the petrol kiosk OUT rclxub.gif

erm...not really a reserve tank, the 5ltr +- volume derived from the likes of petrol piping, the fuel filter, fuel filter tank, fuel pump tank and so forth

hey all the K5 owner!

to those whom changed the nexen tyres, mind to share share the best offer you got for trade-in nexen and the tyre changed? I will do my tyre hunting tomorrow in Klang (am a Klang guy btw)....lets do some comparison.

i find it pretty noisy with mine at 240 pressure, especially after my ride yesterday in NKVE with heavy rain......not really good with wet condition too.

Arigato!

I used Michelin for the past 2 years and I find the noise acceptable right now with the Nexen. Dont forget that tyre noise also depends on the road surface. If its concrete road like many sections on NSE, u will get alot of tyre noise even with Michelin. I drove from Ipoh in heavy rain and the tyres were ok.

I think that spending about RM2,600 (after trade in) is a bit of a waste. These Nexen may not last long and you can change them in about 1 years time. Even when i went to Lim Tayar, the boss told me not to change. He says its a waste to change now as the Nexen is quite ok. Not the best for sure but still ok for stock tyres.

Besides, dont forget that the car comes with really good safety features which should deal with wet roads well enough despite the Nexen.

Added on May 3, 2012, 10:38 amGuys, i did the Sierra Glow last Monday at USJ for RM700. Took about 4 hours. So far so good. I was the 19th Optima to do it there and he had 2 other Optima's coming from Ipoh and Penang to do it this week. Any of you guys?

Hi, may I know the servicing interval for the Optima is every 3 months or every 10,000km? I seldom drive so in 1 year also never reach 10,000km. I have bad experience with Honda. They require servicing every 3 months even though I hardly drove the car. Not worth it.

Another point to add 'long range sun/moon roof ' that you hardly find in D segment, my 4 yr old son always look for the sun and moon whenever he step in the car.

Bro irangan, what is the waiting time for the service in Serdang SC? I'm about to go for 1K service and I plan to go on weekday as the SA said Sat is super cloud..

Their service is very fast and efficient IMO. But I send my car on Weekdays. So might not be accurate. But their manager; Simon is very friendly and helpful. Besides that, they are using SHELL Motor Oil. So another plus point for me.

I changed my tyre to Michelin PS3. Trade in RM200 each for our Nexen. Paid RM825 for the Michelin.

Jalan Ipoh.

My ear is much sensitive compare to yours. So need to change tyre. Hehe.

Good choice on Sierra Glow. Worth it!

10km or 3mths.

Sometime it is not a matter of worth or not. But you need to understand that Motor Oil have their lifespan to function properly. Though you can change your oil like 1 year once but it might damage your engine as the motor oil already lost the 'smoothness'.

Added on May 3, 2012, 8:28 pmGuys, can I bring my own motor oil to SC during services? Want to use the brand that I want rather than using whatever they are carrying. Will it void the warranty?

More shocking news. I filled up at a difference station just now. I managed to pump in RM 150.01 or 78.95L. The first click of the pump was at 64L and i managed to pump in about 15L after that.

Also noticed that after the fuel warning symbol came up at 70km to empty (2 bars of fuel), the final petrol bar started to blink at approx 10-15L balance. So the red fuel symbol is just the first warning. When the final bar starts to blink thats when u gotta really look for a petrol station.

My final mileage before i filled was 735km with about 400km on the highway at 140-150kmph without eco mode. Balance 335km was in city driving with eco mode.

Its common knowledge that fuel consumption in new cars will improve over time. If im already getting 735km in 55/45 highway/city, i can only hope that this improves. But the fuel tank capacity is actually quite surprising. Can someone try and push their car to the limit and then fill up to the brim and see if the readings are the same?
