Aiya... Just realize my k5 also got the 'nyek nyek' sound. Coming from the passenger side behind the driver. Only hears it when going through some rough road. Can't really hear on normal driving.

Also just realize my sunroof side rubber is loose. It won't leak when rain but when the sunroof closes it will 'press' the side rubber in together. Will take some picture tomorrow.

Other from these, the drive is smooth and solid. I got strangers come up to me and ask 'is this the new Lexus?' when I said 'no', it's Kia from Korea. They were surprise and they really like the design. then they start comparing with Camry and the designs is so so only. rclxms.gif  this happen to me in Penang today.
*
i have this problem too. I just reopen the roof and guide it back into place with my finger while the roof closes.

I noticed that the problem occurs mostly during very hot and sunny days, when the rubber gets heated up and expands.

Small problem, nothing to worry about.

Its been a while since my last post. Very busy. Been clocking some miles on my K5. Now at 8500km. My fc is on the high side as 100% city with very bad jam. Ive been clocking bout 480km. But if traffic not that bad then bout 550km. On 100% highway cruising at 90kmh to pg n back managed to hit 880km. But really had to drive very gently.

Im planning to organize the 2nd TT maybe next month. Spoke to Naza Kia and they said we can write in to get them to sponsor something for the TT.

Naza sponsor?? Wow... You r the man...
I will attend this Sunday TT at citta mall , u going?
*
Yay, NAZA sponsor. Next round TT we go Jake's Charbroil Steaks.

Btw, my friend bought a set of rubber mats for his A6 from Audi. I'm seriously considering one set for my K5, i'm sick of vacuuming the ori carpet. Is NAZA selling rubber mats for K5?

My experience for ECO mode all the time , full tank, 80% city, 20% highway, I did it 650km

Added on May 1, 2012, 5:00 pm

Good idea, looking forward to it..... rclxms.gif

I seriously have no idea how you guys could clock 650km... Best i tried was 580km with ECO mode on during traffic jams only. However, FC really did improve with higher mileage. I dislike ECO mode, it makes the car lazy and draggy, so i turn it off all the time. yawn.gif

BTW, i need an answer pretty urgently, now that i've clocked 5250km and next service is 5000km. So does it mean i must send the car in for service now? or do they mean first 1000km + another 5000km = 6000km for the second service?

Things to do:
1) 5000km service
2) Complain bout the noisy sunroof
3) Complain bout the noisy leather seat
4) Complain bout the sharp edges on the steering wheel
5) Tear off all the plastic wrappers

Damages on the car thus far:
1) Paint chip at the edge of the boot lid. It looks like some heartless monster hit it with a brick. Lucky the lid is not dented. Now i'm looking for touch up paint to cover it before it rusts, can anyone recommend where to buy? I reckon PG color touch up is not available yet in our market, so after a week of intense study and random comparisons, i found that the closest matching color is the dark grey E90 BMW and the dark grey I-Vtec Honda City.
2) Paint chip at the edge of the front passenger door, somebody knocked the door on the curb or something. ohmy.gif

I stopped at the first click. But shouldnt be that much difference right? 5 ltrs?

Your one got bigger tank?
Body kit already available and it is sexy~! Posted by our fellow forummer previously.
ECO mode wont damage your car. Its just change the "timing" of your gearbox on when to switch gear and so on. According to my SA, they said that can save up to 10% but personally I never use as I prefer to drive fast.
What engine oil that you used during your first 1k service? If you are using Full Syn, your next service should at 10k km and not 5k km. Check with your SC.
*
When i sent the car for first 1000km service, i asked for semi syn because i thought i'll need to send it in for 5000km maintenance. Nvm, guess i'll just ask for an oil change when i hit 6000km later.

In the last thread, someone mentioned that we actually need 4.0litres ++ of lubricant oil only, right? Can we ask for discount or something?

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ May 2 2012, 07:49 AM)
The steering wheel jumping around is the issue i brought up before in the previous thread. I have researched this and its nothing to do with the Nexen tyres. The Optima has a 'problem' which is called as 'steering kickback'. Not a big issue but u just gotta hold on tighter when u go over bumps or rough roads especially at higher speeds. Not sure if Kia intends to correct this or when.

First 200km was a highway drive at 140kmph without eco. Then the next 250 was city driving with eco. Then came another 200km highway drive without eco at 140-150kmph. Total mileage is 650km and ive still got 2 bars left on my fuel gauge. Will update final range when i fill up sometime this week. But yes the car consumes much more during city driving despite the eco mode.
*
Hehe, can't really control myself from hitting 160-180 on the highway... laugh.gif
I guess i deserve the low gas mileage. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ May 2 2012, 11:14 AM)
I think ull get better sales in April as more and more people become aware of the Optima. The Optima is currently enjoying alot of attention on the roads. Everywhere i went past 3 days, ive been getting alot of looks especially at traffic light stops and restaurants.

The Sonata is still selling as Hyundai salesmen are marketing it as the luxury variant compared to the Optima. Plus they are spreading news that Kia's maintenance is very high compared to Hyundai. But soon enough, ppl will realise that the Optima's specs far outguns the Sonata for the same price. So we too have to do our part and spread the news. Ive actually prepared a spec list which i laminated and placed in my car to be shown to any of my new passengers. Most ppl i spoke with were shocked that the Optima had such good specs.

By the way, its good to see the big jump in sales for the Kia Sportage since they started CKD production. March sold 325 units. Highest month so far since 2010.
*
Boss, i really admire your love for your car and your perseverance in correcting the wrong perception. I think the general public is beginning to accept that Hyundai and KIA have improved a lot. Recently, I've heard some really positive comments from some hardcore fishing village Chinamen on Hyundai Sonata, in terms of quality, style, and comfort.

In my case, the HID was off and yet both the windscreen cleaner and headlight cleaner activated at the same time. Messed up my front bonnet.  vmad.gif

The problem with the instant fuel consumption is not about resetting. In my case, it was constant at max consumption despite me changing driving styles and restarting the engine twice. I also drove fast and slow in an attempt to solve the problem. The average consumption was working fine.
*
So far i haven't encountered such problem. However, it happened to me twice that the speedo meter light turned full brightness by itself while i was driving on the highway. My HID was turned on and i didn't do anything. It worried me for a while but never reoccur since then.

DJSoo, pls add me into your list as well, PG WWJ, thanks.

Good morning my friends,

I've just driven my car up Genting yesterday, and it didn't really impress me as i've imagined. The power feels lackluster, the automatic gears kept trying to shift higher to save fuel so i was forced to switch it to manual mode. However, handling wise it was good, it gives you the confidence that your car will stick to the line and not roll off the hill. And most importantly of all, a few other camrys were moving at the same pace as I did laugh.gif laugh.gif

After four months of ownership, my car has so many dents and damages even i also gave up.
1) Scraped my side skirt against a f**king makeshift private road curb, vmad.gif
2) Scratched my rear rim badly
3) Few scratches here and there on the car body (it wasn't me, some bastards did those)

As for interior, I wonder why nobody here has ever complained about the clicking noises everywhere in the cabin?
1) I have annoying clicking noise from the sunroof right above my head (it comes from within the sunroof rail)
2) Annoying vibrating noise coming from underneath the front passenger seat
3) Annoying vibrating noise coming from the front left speaker grill on the dash
4) Annoying sound coming from the right side B-pillar, behind my head.
5) Sound coming out from the rear right suspension, it goes "gyaaak" when people step out of the car

(All the sounds come out when you drive over rough road surfaces, very obvious especially when radio is off)

And best of all, went i complained to the service centre during my second service, after 1 day, they told me "Sir, your car is still brand new, we dare not to open up your sunroof and scared that we might cause it to leak in the future. We shall report your problems to the central technical department and they shall contact you." Now my car is due for second service and I have not even received a missed-call from them yet.

Now i just wondering, is my car a lemon? I'd suggest we all list out our car problems here, and compile a list of the problems for future references. Shall we? sad.gif

bro, can you tell this is water going in that make headlamp blur when vaporize or fogging? Went to service centre at glenmarie shah alam this morning...they said is fogging due to asian weather here, it always happen in the morning...insists saying not water go inside... vmad.gif
*
Bro, I've got the vapor as well, but it was after a long speedy highway drive through a rainy night. It wouldn't go away even with highlights on. But i guess this is just a small issue, as water definitely can't seep through as i've tried spraying it directly with high water pressure.

Not that bad ... but noticeable .. It happen at Sunway towards federal highway ...

Heart pain la. I also got dents and scratches everywhere that was caused by other people. I forgot about them the next day, hahaha. It actually motivates me to plan for a color respray / color change (i really wanted black but KIA didn't bring it in, odd).

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jul 6 2012, 01:21 PM)
I replaced my front wind shield wipers (FOC under warranty) but was given different set from the original. But somehow, same serial number on the packaging. Dunno whats wrong with Kia parts. But they are now checking with Glenmarie.

But i must say, im quite impressed with their after sales warranty. Ive also replaced the front fog lamps and rear shock absorbers in addition to the front wipers. They also did another allignment and balancing service. All FOC under warranty.

Was also told that Kia HQ now advising Optima owners to lower their car tyre pressure to 30-32PSI instead of 35PSI. This is supposedly to suit 'local' road conditions.
*
Bro, why did you replace all these things ha? i've got squeaky wipers and rear suspension too, are those the reasons?

I do notice that KIA HQ is really working on their customer service, their response time has improved significantly and quite willing to replace parts if proven faulty. I've resubmitted my complaints recently with a stern warning if they don't take action on my complaints. I received their feedback the next day, and now i've got an appointment to send in my car for an inspection by their technical team. So hopefully the problems can be resolved la.

mine never have fogs, and i think not all got the issue.

to hear the alarm sound, lock ur wife in the car, and u press the lock on your remote. Get far away from the car(~15ft) and ur wife unlock the car from inside manually
for best result, always ur wife the one got locked, not u
*
I propose another method. You sit in your car with the remote key, lock it with your key, and then open the door manually from inside.

I remember i've accidentally triggered the alarm in a similar way, but can't recall whether my wife locked it from outside or i locked it myself from inside. but definitely you don't have to walk away from the car.

if u got remote key in the car, u will not trigger the alarm

I've just tested. You can actually lock the car from inside using the remote key, but engine must be off. Then the alarm will go off if you open the doors manually. For those who are curious.

Now its my turn to feel the pain. Was hit from the back by another car this morning. Nothing serious. Just a small dent. I checked with Kia and a new bumper costs RM 1250 not including painting & workmanship. The guy even had the cheek to say 'Wah finally i get to see how the new Optima looks like...damn nice eh?'.  doh.gif

Any good reliable repair shops in KL or Ipoh to recommend?

(btw, i think the reason why many of us getting hit is because ppl maybe too engrossed in looking at our car..hehe)
*
Bro CM98, any idea how much would an original side skirt cost? Just one side

I'm at red cube now doing the first service and awaiting for them to fix my problems...they mentioned its going to take 1 whole day inspecting the noise coming from sunroof and rear left suspension. Saw the HU in Forte, looks pretty OK. Intend to change to the touch screen HU as well when its available. Might think twice if you say its lousy  hmm.gif
*
Bro, I would really recommend you to write an email to Naza Customer Care clearly stating your problems so that they can keep a record of your problems. In my case, I had to send the car in and drove their technician around to show them the problems. Rattling roof, rattling parts in the door, rattling speaker grill and many more. They estimated that they'll need to take my car in for 3 days at least to rectify the problems, which may require a major operation on the sunroof (taking the whole damn thing off). So I told them please seek my permission before doing anything as I may need to approach HQ to get an extra warranty that no further problems would occur after that.

Saw someone's K5 whereby the backlight is a fullstrip type unlike our standard 'C' shape only with K5 logo badge in Red Cube SC. Belongs to someone here in the forum? WVMxxxx i think...
*
When I was in Korea earlier, i made a trip to their KIA showroom and ask for the original full LED strip. After a long communications struggle, managed to check that it costs USD300.00 for the entire rear light assembly which includes the LED strip and C shape lights as well. One more thing that I noticed, they have far fewer KIA and Hyundai showrooms in Seoul than KL. hahahahah rclxms.gif
