can anybody help me choose....light gamer

toshiba-satellite L755 (i5-2450, geforce 525m, 3year warranty, rm2049)
dell 15R (i5-3210, ati 7670, 1year warranty, rm1999)

I know dell>toshiba slightly for these 2 models but vast difference on warranty... plus i would like to know both brand reputation for this price range model..thx

Dell's performance is better, both CPU and GPU-wise.
Dell's warranty support is also better i.e. on-site repairs; provided you're covered, of course nod.gif
go for the 15R, and extend the warranty to 3 years, don't forget to bargain yo, you'll probably be able to get discounts of around RM100 if you're good brows.gif

But will the laptops reach malaysia market in august... Cuz I must buy in august, can early but cannot be late.

Do you have any link to the laptops shown in computex? I keep seeing ultrabooks and gaming laptops, what I want to find is Dell 15R SE alike specs and price..

1. Preferred Brand: Anything
2. Budget:RM3k and below
3. Usage: For dad doing office work and as replacement for his old laptop. Must have DVD drive
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Hopefully 14"

Additional requirements:

- Ultrabook form factor, less than 2kg. If around 1.5kg would be awesome.

I'm a engineering student, I wanna to ask which devide is most suitable for me with lite gaming.

Following is what I chosen:

Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Inspiron 15R, i5-3210M + AMD HD7670M@RM1999[2.65kg], 6GB, 500GB(5400rpm)

Inspiron 15R, i7-3612QM +AMD HD7670M@RM2599[2.65kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm)

Or a iPad 3 32GB @RM1799

Of course cheaper is better smile.gif

i think it's fair to say ipad and notebook are quite different... hmm.gif but among the 3 notebook, inspiron 14R is definitely the better 1 in terms of gaming especially with nividia 640m + backlit for rm42 which would b sweet...the 7200rpm would also giv u a better overall performance and u can always add another 4gb to hav a complete affordable gaming laptop...not to mention if u can get the student price would then cost a little more than rm2k...

Hi! I'm looking for a new laptop. I've been using macs pretty much my entire life and want to switch to windows.

1. Preferred Brand:

Not sure, but customer care and reliability are really important. I'll be leaving to study in Singapore, so international warranty/customer service would be a definite plus smile.gif

2. Budget

+/- RM3.5 - 4k

3. Usage

Doing uni assignments. I'm a classical musician so good audio for listening to music and capable of running music recording, editing and notation software. Playing mostly fighting games like street fighter etc, and just general entertainment.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size

15''

Thanks for the assist! biggrin.gif

Yes, for student should have a lot of time for serious gaming data or diablo and movie and drama, so laptop might more suits him

For working people like me, iPad more suits as would not have the free time for those activities

This will be the most suitable one thumbup.gif

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3399, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

It has got its own Skullcandy™ speakers with FHD screen. Chip in a little more to get 3 years international warranty.
Though it is very very limited for the time being sweat.gif

Or you can go for

Asus
N55Sl-S2064v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1600x900)@RM2899[Bang & Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

This one is running on SB but the speakers are pretty good too.
