Hi guys, need help here.

Any 14" or 15" laptops with FHD display and about rm3.5k (max budget) in price?

and is the asus N56 really FHD or HD? Asus malaysia FB claimed that it is a typo in their brochure and the N56 will come with FHD.

and any idea when the lenovo y580 will be out? and whether the y480 will be equipped with a FHD display soon?
*
Mostly 15' with FHD display.
Asus N55SF , Dell Inspiron 15R SE

It's pretty hard to find one honestly. Most of them are still HD.

and i forgot to mention, i need at least an i7 cpu.

is the Dell inspiron 15R SE already released? any links to the specs?
*
Its a FHD one if i'm not mistaken. Yes it just got released.

Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3399, 8GB, *1TB(5400rpm)[TBU]; backlit keyboard optional

edited* the previous one was without the FHD.

Hhmmm, is there a big difference between the Inspiron 14R and the 15R(The 3.3k one)? Not really clear on the graphic cards and specs stuff. Wouldn't mind a 15 inch either.
Or put it in better words, which one is the more bang for buck biggrin.gif
*
14R have 14' and better graphic card iinm, 15R have 15' with FHD display.
It all comes down to your preference smile.gif

Need a recommendation, under RM 3k, light and well-build enough for work and medium-entertainment (games, music and movie playing).

Basically for daily activities, not hardcore works or rendering, nor hardcore gaming involved.

Oh ya, and I will carry it back and forth everyday to work.
*
What is your preferable screen size?
For 14"
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2999[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Dell has got good warranty and its international as well iinm.

Or you can try Asus N series for good entertainment purposes.

*
For 14" ultrabook,

Samsung 5 series 530U4B, i5-2467M + AMD HD7550M + (16GB SSD + 1TB [5400rpm])@RM2999[1.84kg], 6GB

Toshiba Satellite U840-1003U, i5-2467M + Intel HD3000M + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.7kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, color: silver

I've posted here before but since can't find the old post, here goes. this time more specific smile.gif

Preferred brand : Probably Dell but others can be considered if good specs
Budget : rm2k-rm3k (including warranty & antivirus)
Usage : For university life. I'm taking either mass comm/language, and what people say out there is mixed...some people say normal laptop is OK for mass comm course but others say mac is better/preferable. then again, mac expensive wo…unless really need it then only i will buy. awaiting place in local unis btw.
Preferred laptop/screen size : 13" or 14"
Preferably light/portable. Not into unnecassary weightlifting rclxub.gif

If I went with Dell, for my type of course(s) will an Inspiron 13z be good enough or shall I upgrade to Vostro?
*
Err what does mass comm/language usually do? is it heavy on graphics? why mac is better/preferable for your course?
Sorry don't quite understand the usage tongue.gif

just realized that Dell inspiron 14R SE uses 2GB of Nvidia GT640M(RM2999) while 15" uses 2GB HD 7730M (28nm = newer)(RM2999) & there another 15" with 32GB ssd + anti glare (RM3399)

but the 14" is only 2.38kg while the 15" is 2.78 kg sad.gif
I need to make decision now because tonight I'm going to buy the laptop. BTW which place should I buy it ?? lowyat ( many say they cheat people) or other places like pavilion ??
*
lol 0.4kg difference.
you can buy from dell website smile.gif

If you are okay with 15", you can go for

Asus
G55VW-S1095V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080)@3999, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W7HP

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3399, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

Sager
NP9130, i5-2450M + Nvidia GTX670M + (1920x1080)@RM4499, 8GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-2450M - i7-2860QM]

As for 17", most laptops exceeds your budget. Or you can opt for a desktop with that budget?

Thank you for reply! Showed me a lot more options that I can pick from and opened up my mind~

Just a few more questions though (Want to make sure everything is perfect ><)

Among the above options, which ones are the one that has good cooling system? Because I had a HP Compaq before and it always overheat and auto shutdown... got phobia >..<

Thank you in advance for your helpful advice!
*
Glad to have helped smile.gif

For cooling system issue, have to refer to reviews. tongue.gif It usually depends on your usage and length of hour used. If you're playing in air-cond room then usually its okay. Or you can get a cooling fan for it.

Asus G55VW-S1095V and Sager NP9130 so far I don't hear any complaints for the temperature problem. As for Dell I'm not so sure.

If the price is finalised / supposed to be whistling.gif ,
Dell
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Your usage is not heavy as compared to others which are heavy on gaming / high graphics. A simple laptop with less-er budget will be enough.

Asus
A43Sm-VX102v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2099[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm)

Acer

Wow the i5 Inspiron 14R is really tempting! RM2199 only?! I wonder how much difference it is with the i7 version. Some games works better with additional cores/
*
I think i5 is enough if you're into gaming alot. Some desktop only have i3 but powerful GPU, still can play as well.
