Hola... so, what's the current debate recently here? Been away from the thread for so long

Sad to say one of our bro here has gone to MKIII

I think you guys know it since it has been long since I posted here and he got it like last week.
Who lah? Are you also thinking of jumping?
Like they say, the grass always looks greener on the other side. Likewise, Canon shooters also think of jumping ship to Nikon.

i think video for canon still superb...
as D800 video with high ISO kinda sucks...
and d ISO for 5dm3 is more or less on par with d3s...
jpeg if not mistaken...
check from dpreview...
As for me, I'm more interested in details. You can have the cleanest JPG/RAW but what's the use when there's no detail to work on? Nowadays PP also can get very good results with 3rd party softwares. For me, I rather have slightly "noisier" file with more details and work on it from there.
Oh, just realised that I forgot to mention the D800 samples I posted were reduced to 5DMkIII resolution to compare apples to apples. Somehow, photobucket does not do a good job of showing the details.

I like 35mm a lot though, most of my shots were using 35mm from Friday. Going to shoot more and will be using 35mm again!
I thought I saw somebody shooting at the BMW girls with a 35mm today...

if you are gonna get both eventually, then the question now is which one will benefit you first before getting the other. My advise
get the 35mm if you are doing more general photography atm
get the 85mm if you do more portrait, headshots small groups, long distance shots.
so which one is your priority, get the lens that fulfils that priority
one more for the road, with the 35mm you can always crop, with the 85mm bokeh can't be reproduce
happpy soul searching bro!

p.s. 35mm f/1.4 bokeh is comparable with the 85mm.......hahaha

Good advise. If in doubt, buy both !
