For JPG shooters, you can still use a grey card to capture and set as custom WB so that other JPG photos can use the custom WB. I actually don't use grey card. I press and hold the WB button until the PRE blinks and set custom WB by shooting off a white surface that is reflected under that particular lighting even though I shoot in RAW. Just like ojtee, I like to get the WB correct in camera.
I shoot RAW and I'm using Pocket Whibal G6 as my WB reference for PP. Tried for JPG once (using PRE WB on camera), but didn't really confident of its accuracy since my card is small. It should be accurate though as peeps at Michael Tapes tested the Whibal one by one.

My very 1st attempt at macro. Must say that it was very challenging. Plus I had a withdrawal syndrome (post-macro sickness rclxub.gif ). Maybe macro is not suitable for me blush.gif

earth quake tremor ... *phew*

I've just experienced that. It was a scary moment for my family and I. After checked in at Traders Hotel Penang, we took an elevator to 15th floor. Right before I was about to enter our room, we felt the building shaking like crazy and immediately we rushed down to the nearest staircase. Running down from level 15 was no joke but I'm so grateful that we are fine. What an experience!

Great overall tone. If I were you, I'd crop off the red junk food packaging and the protruding tower on the left side.

That is interesting view of Dataran Merdeka. Mind telling more about the shot ie lens selection, techniques, PP etc. Thanks!

Now I know what it's called. I've been wondering whether they use kinda special ultra-fish eye or PP to achieve that. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Took these shots when I was in Penang few weeks ago. Different angle, different treatment. Which one do you guys prefer?

i never liked HDR, so can i say neither? tongue.gif
but in terms of composition, the right one cos has a more natural angle.
the left one has weird distortions going on.
*
Haha, I don't really like HDR too but sometimes need to use the technique to nail the shot. Yes, I realised the distortion too. Makes the horizontal line looks curvy blush.gif

Some might like the fake, and some might like a more natural HDR. To each its own. That's why I processed the above 2 photos to resemble both types.

If I had an ND filter with me when shot the scene, I'd not use bracketing but just shoot normally icon_rolleyes.gif

But both also doesn't look like the natural type. By the way, did you use high clarity in those pictures?

There's something unique and nice for those extreme/artistic HDR, if it's done well.
*
Yes, I bumped up the clarity to make it a lil' bit more contrast and sharper.

Anyway, I'm still reading thru' RC's book on HDR. It's a good reference book on how to make HDR tastier (although I don't really dig his own 'taste').

a question, is it possible to use macro filters instead of buying an expensive macro lens (let's say I'm just a beginner and don't wanna spend so much yet on macro lens)?

I've seen some youtube videos how they stack them up and can get close-ups, of course, may not be as awesome as pro macro lens, but I think it's pretty good for with lower budget? Anyone ever try this out?

Considering I'm an occasional macro shooter, I'm very very pleased with the results that I get from this combo:
Nikon 35-80 + auto extension tube

Don't forget about the importance of flash+diffuser (which you can DIY).

After > 17,000 shutter count, my sensor got oil spots again vmad.gif Last year sent to Nikon BTS and they charged me for the cleaning job. Actually this is Nikon's problem, not mine. Should I pay again for their fault?

Why la Nikon never admit, instead doing dirty tricks like planting its staff to wage a war of denial. Shameful!

probably urs wasnt serious, so they cleaned it.
mine after few thousand shots of high fps, it appeared.
nikon replaced my shutter unit when i brought it to them after 10k sc...so far no issues already.

u go back to the pj one, talk to decward.
*
How much do they charge? Mine warranty lapsed oredi.

Anyway, I still have the receipt of the last cleaning job. Can I show them the receipt and say I should get this done for free since it's Nikon's fault?
