I got it last year. But since the letter said its advisable for all to update, but only require if ur salary is below some mark, which I exceed, I just ignore.

1st, receiving statement or not is nothing to do with all these. perhaps they got ur address wrong or something. or maybe postman send to wrong house. call CS up. i dun get physical statement, coz i personally requested so, since i have m2u, its enuf.

AMEX only give 5% rebate on weekends usage, whether u r eligible for the 5% or not, it depends on the transaction date. if transaction date falls on sat/sun, then u r eligible. for your statement date, for everyone it could be diff. but all my CC, the statement date is 12th each months. and the payment due date is usually end of current month / start of current month (20 days, like one of the bros said).

the way maybank AMEX rebate work, its a bit diff. they follow calendar month instead of statement month (for my case 12th this month - 11th next month), so all ur rebate will be credited every 1st of the month, regardless ur statement date. (the cap of rm50 is also following calendar month.)Whether u get the rebate this month, or next, it depends on the transaction's posting date, not transaction date.


after typing all these...i just remember to check one thing from you. is ur AMEX under Maybank 2 Cards? which u r given one AMEX and another VISA/Mastercard? tongue.gif

which in this case, i have something to b**** about.

i know a person that is using amex gold card from mbb. when i got to know he wun get any 5% on weekends, i asked him to switch to mbb 2 cards, or perhaps ocbc titanium.

but he refused. i'm okay if he's not penny savvy, but the point is, he is. yet he's unwilling to change. anyway...i shouldn't be bother about him biggrin.gif

you should really get another card.

when and how u redeem?

according to CS, if u redeem online...takes about 1 week to reflect (and yes, the points will be deducted 1st)

if through call direct to CS and request, it's about 3 days.

while it's a good idea to call up, there should not be a mad rush on it, just give it a call.

for my case, i tot rebate should apply before the GST is impose (which is not the case of course according to others here, u can still get rebate even a few months after GST is imposed, provided u paid the GST 1st). with my initial thinking, i ask CS what happen if they charge me GST and i din pay and they charge me late charges, since my payment deadline is near. CS assured me if late payment is charged, just call back to CS, they will waive. which they did for me smile.gif

what i mean is they impose GST, i tot for the rebate, need to rush to redeem before payment date of the GST.
that's why i called CS and ask him what if i was charged late payment, since i tot after i pay for GST, i can't redeem it

turns out that even after i paid the GST, if redeem, they would sort of refund the rm50 smile.gif

i book hotel through agoda using mbb visa instead....

got the 6%

and i check m2u, the transaction not posted yet. lol...
i prefer using visa for 6% instead of russian roulette 5% on amex


btw, someone here can brief me on the maxis pay by phone?
heard amex is accepted. but we need to register the card through maxis online portal 1st...
then only can pay by phone.

the last i tried thru automated pay by phone, it failed...

CS said, the pay by phone option, only mastercard/visa is available...
for amex, u need to call them up, submit a case to their team, baru can proceed, bla bla bla, which i'm not interesting in anymore coz i guess by that time it's not weekends anymore..

so i ask CS to cancel my autodebit, and say his team will call me up within 1 working day, to proceed to cancel that.

will update again once it's done.


edited: received an sms saying the cancellation of auto debit is done
