QUOTE(lung85 @ Sep 7 2012, 06:50 PM) how bout HSBC atm card, shd able to withdraw rite. if i withdraw frm hsbc sg, it doesnt have extra charges, juz currency rate only rite. and if use my hsbc atm card withdraw at sg any local bank, shd have at least rm10 n above charges, rite. There will still be some foreign exchange fee with ATM/Debit/Credit card. As for cash withdrawal fee (per usage), please call HSBC CS or refer to their website for further info. Like I said, use your MBB Petronas Credit Card because it has on of the lowest conversion fee for Malaysia issued credit cards. I used to have the MBB Petronas, click on below links to see my article on overseas transactions and you'll note MBB Petronas exchange rate was the lowest when comparing to my other credit cards. Overses Transactions - What Card Is The Best? Part II comparing transactions in Singapore. Overseas Transactions - What Card Is The Best? comparing transactions in Singapore. Overseas Transaction - which CC to use? HSBC rate was among the highest for US and SG transactions. Tell you what, you go do cash withdrawal with your HSBC ATM card and also pay with your MBB Petronas Card and then report here back the exchange rate comparison please.

I was charged two times for a transaction. First swipe failed but it went through anyway, so no slip. After receiving 2 sms alerts, I confirmed the double charge with SCB SC and CL deduction from online banking. The SC said this is between me and the merchant. Is this correct?
The merchant claimed there is no record of double charge after doing the 'closing' of credit card accounts and will have to check with the e-pay vendor for full record. This may take several days.
The funny thing is, the merchant will do refund by crediting the amount to my saving account insread of doing reversal from my credit card. At the same time, I have also flagged the double charge.

If the merchant can rectify for you then no problems. If the merchant refuse to rectify it, you can lodge a dispute with the card issuer and let them take the necessary actions. Once I bought a Jet Star ticket and somehow it showed that my booking did not go thru. So made another booking. Then my statement came and got doubled charged. Call MBB and they said to check with Jet Star and see if they can rectify on their side first. So called Jet Star and initially it showed there was no double charged based on reservation number but after further checking, Jet Star confirmed I was charged for the failed booking and reverse the transaction. I'd suggest you to just wait for 3 months.

Or, maybe your petrol usage is low, like RM100 or less, then maybe this PB Esso Debit card can be even better than credit card offering 5% cash back after considering RM50 GST. (i am not the owner,is that my parents sub another card for me from his MBF bank account) Many many years ago, in the 90's, MBf used to have a card just for local use targeted at those unable to qualify for Classic credit cards. Nowadays, they no longer issue such cards I suppose. You should not have any problems using your MBf supp card overseas but it is a good practice to let the card issue know the duration you are there (call CS and inform them). One more thing, when you are asked or need to select credit or debit, choose credit. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Sep 12 2012, 08:43 AM
