Lol, seems pretty odd there but heck since you have such 'pro' SNR margins then why you bother to ask? laugh.gif

It could be the hardware fault I supposed.. Just guessing.. hmm.gif  hmm.gif

Hi guys,

I'm currently using a new 3COM wireless router+modem. Somehow, the ADSL connection isn't stable. The ADSL status varies.

Sometimes the downstream rate is very low about 600kbps. Sometimes it is 1536kbps. And I face frequent disconnection too.

But using my old modem, the connection is fine and the status is always 1536kbps.

Is there something wrong with my 3COM modem or my line? sad.gif

Yes, I've tried using my old modem and the line was ok...
Would like to ask what should the settings for below be?

VPI/VCI - 0/35?
Encapsulation - VC MUX or LLC?
QoS Class - CBR or VBR or UBR ?
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10?

My current settings are
VPI/VCI - 0/35
Encapsulation - VC MUX
QoS Class - UBR
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10

Modem is 3COM 3CRWDR101A-75

For the time being, I can only provide you the ATM Protocol, Encapsulation, VPI and VCI values for Streamyx.

I already make a complaint letter to TMnet. Look at the screenshot. My connection is very bad. During raining or drizzling my modem could not sync with the DSLAM.

Yeah, you've the same problem as I do right now. And it was already 3 weeks since I called the TmNut's Customer Interaction Centre and the technician they sent 4 days ago sucks in such a way that he cannot even figure out that it is my phone cable from the telephone pole to my house that's the one causing my SNR Margin so low and my Line Attenuation that high. Addition that I told him I've got a lot of "errored seconds" and "CRC errors" and all these are caused by the phone cable from the telephone pole. Yet, he convinced me that my line won't get disconnect anymore after he'd just changed a new telephone socket for me.

Few minutes after he left my house, I dc-ed. The next day, my line dc-ed even worse that every 20 minutes I need to turn on and off my modem just to reconnect. So I got fed up and called the TmNut's Customer Interaction Centre again. The operator told me to make an appointment with the technician again.

So, I made it today morning, called them up at 10.30am and the operator told me that the technician will come and fix my line before 12.00pm. I waited till 2.00pm and the technician didn't show up. I called the operator again and he told me the technician had too many appointments today and that he needs to come to my house another day.

Woo-hooo, what a nice service TmNut provides me, and of course, us, the TmNut's streamyx users.

Well, I'm gonna call and "bang" them up again this Thursday, so that they will send a technician to my house and fix my fcuking damn line. I will bug them. Bug them. Don't worry.

This is my current internet connection status. You can enjoy looking at the errors. =)

SNR margin the higher the better [that means your signal getting strong , and your connection is stable and it would not 'hop']

Line attenuantion the lower the better[that means you would have less noise, thus you would face less disconnections]

It is your line's problem. Your US and DS Margins are too low. Furthermore, your Line Attenuation is very high. Most likely, you are having the same problem/case as I do now. Just call up 1-300-88-9515 ( Streamyx Interaction Centre) and tell them your problem. Make sure you keep on bugging them until they accept the fact that they need a technician to fix your line. Not doing all those stupid steps like, "make sure your username and pasword are correct, off and on modem, restart computer". All these are just some plain useless guide the operator will give you.

My hypothesis: Most likely is your line's problem. Low US Margin and DS Margin. Furthermore, your Line Attenuation is high. SNR Margin and Line Attenuation should be around the range value of 30-40 if you're having a good, stable line.

i think its your outside line also. u should be getting frequent disconnection and out of sych. probs. by now....especially during raining. u can tell by simply looking at yer low SNR Margin value (less than 10). cant do nothing about it until tm repair/replaced the old cables outside yer house...

Yes, rendude is correct. Well, I am having the same problem as you guys do too. And I've been calling Streamyx's Interaction Centre for more than a month now. Kept on bugging them so that they will send a technician to replace my old phone cable that connects the telephone pole outside my house to my house's phone line. Trust me, they are not that hardworking as you think they are. And one more thing, they love to delay their work. It's been a week now that said they'll send a technician to my house to check my line. Until today, no sign of noone. o.O Impressed by Streamyx's Services? Think twice.

Added on May 3, 2007, 10:45 pmAnd you just don't know how frustrated I am now.

Take a look at this beautiful, high-classed piece of art(shit):

user posted image

I got disconnected 6 times (Startup Attempts) in 2 hours. It's like once in every 20 minutes. And, ohh, nice errors my line is having.

I'm going mad and Streamyx's technicians are causing me to behave like that.

I need help with my net connection...
I'm using a prolink gateway.

Line State : Showtime
Modulation : G.DMT
Annex Mode : ANNEX_A
Downstream / Upstream
SNR Margin : 6.5 / 14.0 db
Line Attenuation : 63.5 / 31.5 db
Data Rate : 1344 / 512 kbps

My download speed slows down after a while. It starts off around 900-1000kbps then after about 20-40 mins, its around 300-500kbps.

Any ideas on what I can do to solve this problem?
Thanks...

Look at my download speed. It's 480. It used to be 1024. We've got the same problem too. Well, even this I cannot figure it out, why!

By the way, do you face frequent disconnections like your line will disconnect after every 20 minutes(average range value)? Because your SNR Margin is low and your Line Attenuation is very high, not much difference with my line. These 2 main problems are caused by the phone cable connected from the telephone pole outside your house into your phone. Call up 1-300-88-9515 and request for a technician. Be patient, because the Streamy'x Interaction Centre's operation is drive you crazy.

Added on May 6, 2007, 12:35 pmOmg, today my line is so stable. But, look at my speed, =) 512 kbps. Mine is actually 1024 kbps. I really don't know what is happening now. @.@?
