i just bought this modem, it quite good at first place but after using for few day it become sux....dissapointed...

That why I was asking around here. It seem very low but I do not face disconnection problems Surfing and Bting is fine.  Can it be because of Glite?

Pro?    Dude I just hope I can get faster downloads  . I tested and as I suspected it is the Glite modulation I am using. Now using G.DMT  . Actually planning to upgrade line so doing research.

Hi guys,

I'm currently using a new 3COM wireless router+modem. Somehow, the ADSL connection isn't stable. The ADSL status varies.

Sometimes the downstream rate is very low about 600kbps. Sometimes it is 1536kbps. And I face frequent disconnection too.

But using my old modem, the connection is fine and the status is always 1536kbps.

Is there something wrong with my 3COM modem or my line? 

Yes, I've tried using my old modem and the line was ok...
Would like to ask what should the settings for below be?

VPI/VCI - 0/35?
Encapsulation - VC MUX or LLC?
QoS Class - CBR or VBR or UBR ?
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10?

My current settings are
VPI/VCI - 0/35
Encapsulation - VC MUX
QoS Class - UBR
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10

Hi everyone, was really glad to come across this thread today as it finally gave me an answer as to why I am constantly having connection problems with Streamyx.  Have made many called to the TM Customer helpline but getting sick of being told to try the same thing again and again which never helped.  Now I know about this SNR margin and Line Attenuation I will check my readings tonight and see if I have reason to complain.  By the way, i just need to enquire about something else...after reading thru this thread it was mentioned about the phone line being noisy...I need to ask u guys what sound do u hear when u pick up the phone?  It used to be just a constant "toooooooooot" but now for mine it is more like an engaged tone "toot toot tooooooot"  Could this be a sign of line problem too?  I can still dial out though.  Would really appreciate feedback from u experts in here   thanks!!

so did you do anything about it Bluewind?  I have checked on my SNR margin and the reading is 12 whereas my line attenuation is 55 so it looks pretty bad.  I've called 100 to make a complain so hopefully they will look into it by next week.  I always have problems connecting in the afternoon & night as I normally get the "You have limited connectivity" message
