Do you face a lot of disconnections? - It seems pretty bad for me with your SNR margin value..

Yes, and your Margin also appears to be very bad. The clear sign is you face frequent disconnection.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's from what I know.. - If you refer to the first page of this thread then you will be able to find out whether your line is good or bad. Refer to this link

That why I was asking around here. It seem very low but I do not face disconnection problems Surfing and Bting is fine.  laugh.gif Can it be because of Glite?

Lol, seems pretty odd there but heck since you have such 'pro' SNR margins then why you bother to ask? laugh.gif

It could be the hardware fault I supposed.. Just guessing.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Hi guys,

I'm currently using a new 3COM wireless router+modem. Somehow, the ADSL connection isn't stable. The ADSL status varies.

Sometimes the downstream rate is very low about 600kbps. Sometimes it is 1536kbps. And I face frequent disconnection too.

But using my old modem, the connection is fine and the status is always 1536kbps.

Is there something wrong with my 3COM modem or my line?  sad.gif

You tried swapping modem? Try it if you haven't done it.. Might be your hardware..

Yes, I've tried using my old modem and the line was ok...
Would like to ask what should the settings for below be?

VPI/VCI - 0/35?
Encapsulation - VC MUX or LLC?
QoS Class - CBR or VBR or UBR ?
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10?

My current settings are
VPI/VCI - 0/35
Encapsulation - VC MUX
QoS Class - UBR
PCR/SCR/MBS - 4000/4000/10

Modem is 3COM 3CRWDR101A-75

Er.. again, I'm not very good at this.. So I can't really help you with my limited knowledge towards this network.. blush.gif

Hi everyone, was really glad to come across this thread today as it finally gave me an answer as to why I am constantly having connection problems with Streamyx.  Have made many called to the TM Customer helpline but getting sick of being told to try the same thing again and again which never helped.  Now I know about this SNR margin and Line Attenuation I will check my readings tonight and see if I have reason to complain.  By the way, i just need to enquire about something else...after reading thru this thread it was mentioned about the phone line being noisy...I need to ask u guys what sound do u hear when u pick up the phone?  It used to be just a constant "toooooooooot" but now for mine it is more like an engaged tone "toot toot tooooooot"  Could this be a sign of line problem too?  I can still dial out though.  Would really appreciate feedback from u experts in here smile.gif  thanks!!

I have the same problem as yours. - Mine also used to be like a constant 'toooooot' and never had some sort of noise before.

so did you do anything about it Bluewind?  I have checked on my SNR margin and the reading is 12 whereas my line attenuation is 55 so it looks pretty bad.  I've called 100 to make a complain so hopefully they will look into it by next week.  I always have problems connecting in the afternoon & night as I normally get the "You have limited connectivity" message
*
Nope, never do anything about it at all. I never bothered by this because I never face any disconnections. - After yesterday's storm, the line Attenuation from 49 to 40.. My SNR Margin is also pretty low after the storm.. And I never face any difficulties in connecting.. As for the limited connectivity, from my suspect it's from your computer setup, it has nothing to do with the line quality.. I don't know just my suspect maybe I'm wrong haha tongue.gif

Oh well, nobody seems to be able to answer this question. blink.gif

My connection seems fine as well, and it shows pretty bad SNR Margin too. Not as bad as yours but it's around 11-19 max. The noise level is up by 1 increment value laugh.gif

Before the storm, my connection seems pretty stable and fine, but after the storm I'm getting worried with my connection now it seems pretty vulnerable to get disconnection. blink.gif

Mine the superawesome pissed line...
Us Rate (Kbps)  512
Ds Rate (Kbps)  2048
US Margin  25
DS Margin  31
Modulation  MMODE
LOS Errors  9
DS Line Attenuation  9
US Line Attenuation  2

How damn cool is this, knowing that I was given the hope of using good tmnet streamyx service to play WoW, and this shit comes in..

Good game man... \=

Your line seems pretty good, and I don't see why you are pissed with it. You're facing lag issue in WoW?

Actually, does the quality of a microfilter counts? - Like does it affect the performance of the DSL?

If I'm not mistaken, it means that the line is connected but sometimes it doesn't have signals even if it's connected. I don't know, this is from what I see..

Seems ok with me, but I think the noise level is a bit high. What modem are you using?

It happens right after you purchased your new modem? Or the old one also the same thing?
