award-winning series, Mass Effect 3 offers a unique narrative to immerse you in the storyline and characters, quickly and easily preparing you for the beginning, middle, and end of a galactic war for survival.

Single-player

From the first moments of Mass Effect 3 you will build Shepard into the warrior you want to be. Choose your appearance (including male or female) and pick from a variety of specialized combat classes, each with unique and devastating abilities. As you progress in the war against the Reapers, you'll choose which customizable weapons to use, which abilities and powers to upgrade, which armor upgrades to equip, and which characters will join your squad.

The towering, unstoppable engines of destruction known as the Reapers pose the greatest-ever threat to the galaxy – and to your own survival. They bring with them a host of abominations – various races from across the galaxy, perverted into horrific servants of war. And the threat doesn't end there. Also standing in your way is a wide variety of malevolent forces, including the well-equipped pro-human group Cerberus, and the Geth, formidable alien adversaries with their own hidden agenda.

Wage war against the Reapers your way. Command your elite squad to exert full tactical control over battlefield, or charge in guns blazing and devastate the enemy with overwhelming firepower. Use stealth technology and an enhanced sniper rifle to drop opponents before they see you coming. Throw enemies into the air with telekinetic "biotic" abilities and have your squad shred them with their assault rifles. Position turrets and hack opposing tech to turn the entire warzone into hostile ground for your adversaries.

Multi-player

Form an elite strike team with three of your friends, then work together to liberate key conflict zones in an action-packed co-operative multiplayer mode. You'll start as a human combatant, but through a deep progression system you can unlock other powerful races and classes. You will need the other classes' unique play style, powers, and abilities – plus other unlockable rewards such as weapons, armor, health and damage boosters, and upgrade kits – to defeat increasingly deadly waves of opposition. But above all, you will need teamwork to survive.

Resurgence Multiplayer DLC

The Mass Effect 3 Resurgence Pack adds new unlockable content: deadly weapons, new consumables, and powerful characters for each class in multiplayer, including the Asari Justicar, Batarian, Geth, and Krogan Battlemaster.

user posted image

Asari Justicar Adept
Asari are fierce, graceful warriors. They are incredibly powerful natural biotics. The asari excel at hit-and-run tactics that ruthlessly eliminate their opponents from the battlefield.

Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard
Krogan Vanguards are a brutish specimen. These fully mature krogan might be old and slow, but their biotic charge ability makes up for it. Their heavy shields and ability in close makes them a menace on the battlefield.

Geth Infiltrator
Geth Infiltrators converge quickly on a target while remaining undetected. Their unique perception systems give Geth Infiltrators an unsurpassed understanding of the battlefield.

Geth Engineer
Geth Engineers are elite support specialists. Their unique perception systems give Geth Engineers an unsurpassed understanding of the battlefield.

Batarian Soldier & Sentinel
Batarians are large brawlers that use nets and spiked weapons to capture targets… or to bleed them dry on the battlefield. If an opponent gets too close, a Batarian bludgeons them with spiked armor and enforcement gauntlets

Rebellion Multiplayer DLC

user posted image

The Rebellion Multiplayer Expansion opens two new fronts against the Reapers: Firebase Jade’s jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Reegar Carbine, Krysae Sniper Rifle, Cerberus Harrier) as well as equipment, consumables, and six new characters from species that have lost lives or whole planets to the Reapers: Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Ex-Cerberus Phoenix Adept and Vanguard. The battle continues!

NEW CHARACTERS

user posted image

Vorcha Soldier
Thanks to their unique physiology and their Bloodlust ability, the Vorcha are joining the fight and are perfectly suited for the utilitarian soldier kit.

Vorcha Sentinel
The innate aggressiveness found within the Vorcha make them shockingly durable combatants, and when coupled with their Flamer skill, the Vorcha sentinel is a force to be reckoned with.

Male Quarian Engineer
Quarians have spent centuries at perpetual salvage and ship repair; the survival of their species depends on this technical expertise. When bringing the new Arc Grenade to the fray, the Quarians prove their prowess as effective engineers on the battlefield.

Male Quarian Infiltrator

The Male Quarian Infiltrator must actively rely on stealth while in the heat of battle, and when they make use of their Tactical Scan ability, they quickly prove their mettle while continuously dishing out the pain.

Ex-Cerberus Vanguard
When the Illusive Man turned to indoctrination in order to ensure the loyalty of his troops, many Cerberus operatives defected and joined the Alliance in order to stop the Reapers. Now that we’re on the same team, Ex-Cerberus Vanguards (along with their new Lash attack) are quickly proving their worth.

Ex-Cerberus Adept
A result of the Illusive Man's early experiments in enhanced human physiology, Ex-Cerberus subjects are highly skilled combat and biotics specialists. As a result, Ex-Cerberus Adepts can lay waste to the enemy with their Smash and Singularity powers.

NEW MAPS

Firebase Jade - Surrounded by huge waterfalls, Firebase Jade overlooks an ancient reservoir built by the salarians centuries ago. Set up strategic chokepoints inside the base’s main buildings to get the jump on your enemy, and work with your team to meticulously clear each room to achieve victory.

Firebase Goddess - Nestled in the epicenter of a Thessian metropolis, Firebase Goddess is one of the last strongholds of asari resistance against the Reapers. With its circular layout, Firebase Goddess is a tough location to control. This arena combines heavy cover and elevated firing positions, so stay light on your feet.

NEW WEAPONS

user posted image

Cerberus Harrier Assault Rifle - These Cerberus-modified Mattock rifles are fully automatic. Cerberus gunsmiths reined in the recoil issues, resulting in a gun that stay on target, but delivers slightly less punch per round than a standard Mattock. As such, the weapon is typically utilized by Cerberus’ elite troopers, who train constantly to make every burst count.

Reegar Carbine Shotgun - This electrical weapon improves upon the arc pistol’s design by generating a sustained current on its target. This weapon is named for the Quarian Reegar family, whose marines have served valiantly against the Geth.

Krysae Sniper Rifle - This Turian antimaterial rifle is modified to kill Reaper enemies. The Krysae’s scope uses a rangefinder that adjusts to keep the target in proper proportion to the shooter, which comes in useful when the sniper is forced into close range. Its specialized ammunition is both armor-piercing and explosive. In a desperate move, the Turians released its specifications over the extranet so that nearly anyone with a fabricator could manufacture this weapon to help the war effort.

New In-Mission Objective

Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will demand that teams retrieve a high priority package and securely escort it to a designated extraction zone on each map.

New Gear Slot

A new slot will be available on the equipment screen, offering players a persistent gameplay bonus that will not expire after the end of a match. These new items will vary from weapon upgrades to character enhancements and will be available through reinforcement packs.”

Earth Multiplayer DLC

user posted image

The fighting is fiercest when it’s your home at stake! Mass Effect 3: Earth adds mods, gear, and new maps for Rio, Vancouver, and London.

user posted image

New Powerful and Unique Weapons – Lay waste to the enemy by unlocking the N7 Piranha Shotgun, N7 Typhoon Assault Rifle and Acolyte Pistol.

user posted image

Ascend to the rank of True N7 Operatives with 6 new human N7 classes - Destroyer Soldier, Paladin Sentinel, Demolisher Engineer, Slayer Vanguard, Shadow Infiltrator, and Fury Adept! Each comes complete with new and powerful abilities and melee attacks.

New Powerful Upgrades – Outfit your weapons with 12 new modifications and fortify your gear with 11 unique upgrades to defeat even the toughest foes.

New “Platinum” Difficulty – Conquer bronze in your sleep? Take down Silver with one hand? Beat Gold without breaking a sweat? Then grab your friends and test your skills on the brand-new Platinum difficulty.

New In-Mission Objective – Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will challenge teams to keep a targeted agent alive by protecting and escorting them to a designated extraction zone on each map.

since i had me1 save game, which events carries directly forward to me2, and then me3.

small sidequests was not carried over when i played me2 on ps3. for example, the conrad verner sidequest. its these little tidbits that make the game.

Just finished the demo, framerate is quite bad. But still will be getting the game. Online doesn't work for me. Prolly cause I'm using R3 account for the R1 demo.

Just finish the demo, full of awesomeness

some of the things i like:
-holyshit Ashley became a babe biggrin.gif
-Details and texture looks much better than ME2
-Cloak + heavy melee = Awesome Kill, too bad it doesn't really have a special animation for it

Some bad things I notice
-sliding enemies both in the first and second part of the demo
-the cutscene where Shepard and Anderson was walking looks kinda jerky, the other looks ok though
-why the default femshep doesn't looks like the promo bid sad.gif
-running animation looks sorta clunky, I feel the character is leaning too much to the front

it seems the demo seems to suffer from framerate. hope its not in the final version.

it was great to see liara, wrex and garrus together in a ship again. it felt like a meeting between old friends. smile.gif

Personally i think BW is trying to hard to make Ashley to be like Miranda. Just one glance and my mind ady screamed out MIRANDA!? Prefer her auntie Rosie look though. The make over is juz waaaay over extreme.

even pc version isn't perform well.
gameplay can reach 60 FPS.
in cutscenes it flows at 30 FPS (dialogue/sound effect), yet the animation move like it's still in 60 FPS.
weird as hell.

seems xbox360 version is better all around. dem kinect.

during cutscenes only, it seems. but look at that video, u can see that ps3 goes down to 22+- fps... while the xbox remains at 29+-.

i think i'll try the pc demo later and 'test out' the pc version myself smile.gif

i give you my opinion as a casual gamer. i am no graphic whore but the graphics in the me3 demo is a huge improvement over me2. there is a bit of lag in the frame rate but it's not as bad as the ridiculous lag in skyrim.

even though i now have a new powerful pc to play at home, i still prefer to buy the ps3 version because i rather play on my bed with a DS3 & watching the action on a big TV, then sit hunchback on my desk playing with a boring mouse & keyboard which reminds me of my stupid office. tongue.gif

I am satisfied with what ME2 had to offer in term of graphic. After i've read your post you have put my mind into ease. i do not have PC so PS3 is the only platform i have in order to play ME3. XBOX? sooryy but no thank you.

now who can customize commander shepard to look like me?? i will treat him teh o ice for the hard work tongue.gif

Relax.

When ME1 and ME2 demo first came out on the Xbox 360, it was the same problem.
Framerate issues.
When ME2 demo came out for the PS3, again.. same issues, framerates and low-res textures.

Same goes for most of other Bioware games too, more often than not their final product is always better than the demo.
Unlike many other games, a demo does represent the final version often times.

Added on February 16, 2012, 6:40 pmAs for the comparison on the demos, the PS3 version is Vsync where as the 360 version isn't.
Screen tearing is apparent on the 360.
Though fortunately it isn't too bad.

SSAO is also more pronounced on the 360, making the textures pop more. But does make shadows look jagged.
The PS3 version has soft-shadow enabled.

That's quite true, I tried ME2 demo and well it wasn't impressive, but later after I got PS+ i tried ME2 Trial version which is a time limited full game and it was much better.

Sadly for PS3 the only thing we got resembling ME1 is a short interactive comic that comes with ME2

lvl 7 infiltrator here. quite hard to play the coop map. even if on the easiest difficulty, it is quite hard to survive the survival mode. I only made it alive once after playing it 3 times with a bunch of strangers. the key to surviving the wave of enemy is to stick together.

I fear the most is phantom and nemesis. they both move too fast and very lethal in close range.

I'm playing tonight. need a team with I can work with. I have Mic for communication.

Phantom I can understand, but Nemesis is not really lethal in close range, normally when you get close to the Nemesis, She will always try to run away, not bothering to shoot you until she can find a good spot to hide. She's a sniper

The behavior is the only problem, making it very hard to take a good aim at her(being very small add up as well). So in the end the normal trooper will mow you down while you are busy chasing her tongue.gif

Anyway I'm a level 6 Human Vanguard on PS3 now, level 10 Krogan Soldier and level 9 Human Infiltrator on PC.

Note: I play in Bronze, not sure if their behavior is any different in Silver or Gold

I just went through a round on noveria, at a wave where you need to activate a device near the landing pad, my entire team is in the building, guess what happened? the engineer placed a turret on the staircase exit of the building, and another turret just below the ladder that is near that exit(but behind the opening so we cannot attack those turrets from afar).

Completely block off the route zzzz, my entire team died trying to get through the turrets.

Engineer's incinerate is a risk free way to kill ppl. equally effective as charge+shotgun and much lower risk.

MP trophies got, but you don't need to really do MP to get it. for example, the requirement are like this:

reach level 20 in multiplayer or level 60 in singleplayer

All MP trophies has alternate singleplayer requirements if you really dont want to play MP.

ME3 is continuation from ME1 and 2.

The MP really fun, though sometimes those playing as Vanguard can be quite annoying, they just charge right into the line of fire. Don't really like the buying random boxes for equipment and weapons though, sometimes get weapons that I don't even use.

love the single player portion, not crazy about the mp.

mostly due to the clunky controls.
like Uncharted, i probably will dabble in it, but dont really fancy playing this game online.

I liked the single player portion of the game. Graphics seems better too, improved a lot especially for ps3 version.

Can't wait. Preordered and awaiting arrival....

7th March 2012, the reapers will arrive in Malaysia. smile.gif

What's the best way to kill Nemesis and Phantom?
Currently I am playing as Soldier, still in Bronze game and it's quite hard to kill them. Can't imagine how tough they are in Silver and Gold game

Phantom:

for a Soldier you probably need a teammate with powers to take out her barrier, you job at the early stage is to spam fire her with the assault rifle bullet, once your teammate is able to warp/overload away her barrier, she will try to cloak and run away to recharge her barrier, at this time, keep spamming her with bullet(else she will go completely invisible if not interrupted by bullet), once she find her hiding spot and take cover, switch to your sniper rifle. The Phantom takes cover in a very odd posture that makes her head pop out. Finish her with a headshot. smile.gif

If you are a Krogan Soldier, and she is running towards you, just Krogan Charge her.

Nemesis:

The main problem is she tends to run away when you get close,
When you have her at mid to close quarter, try to get a concussive shot off to stagger her, and take the chance to fire at her. Again, a teammate that can quickly take out her shield helps.

Migrant Fleet refuses Council inspectors

Migrant Fleet refuses Council inspectors

by Diana Allers

CITADEL — Diplomatic relations between the quarians and Citadel Council have chilled after the Migrant Fleet refused to consider visitation by Council weapons inspectors.

The move comes several months after the Migrant Fleet allegedly acquired dual-use ship materials, which could be used to create dreadnought-scale weaponry.

The allegations leveled by unnamed Spectres center around a battle over the Terminus world of Korlus. In a violent dispute, the Migrant Fleet fought Blue Suns mercenaries and when the fighting was done, took its fill of starship parts on or orbiting the planet.

Quarian representatives have so far been unapologetic.

“We have no embassy on the Citadel, and are no longer signatories to the Treaty of Farixen,” Admiral Han’Gerrel vas Neema said. “Our armaments are none of the Council’s business. Further, these worries are unfounded. We have never had, nor do we plan to have, hostile intent to Council species.”

Public reaction in Council space is vehement.

“The Migrant Fleet has always lived on the edge of criminality,” popular blogger Feyro Derlan said. “But adding an axial gun to a liveship that’s who-knows-how-many kilometers long? That’s not a cause for worry, that’s terror worth soiling your pants over.”

Diana Allers is a war correspondent who appears regularly on ANN’s “Battlespace.”

anyway, i did complete silver a lot of times with a bunch of strangers but that bunch of strangers knew what we need to do, what to do and how to do it correctly.

the only thing i want to achieve now is complete 1 gold match. anyone want to join me?

Got this from Bioware ME3 forum

QUOTE
So the way it works is that there are two systems, one is Readiness which is a percentage and the other is your Galaxy at War score.  Both combined give you a number that calculates along with your choices what ending you get.  You need a score of 3750 to get the Master and Commander achievement and a minimum score of 4000 to get the best ending.  Now your Readiness percentage starts at 50% which is not affected by playing the single-player.  50% seems to be the absolute base in that it can't go below that and multiplayer makes end game much easier.  Readiness can only be affected by playing the multiplayer.  So to get the perfect ending, you have to get a GAW score in single-player of 8000 and have certain correct choices.  In order to negate these choices you have to get a end game GAW score of 10,000 (or 5,000 once you calculate in Readiness).  The bad news is that there is a decay system attached to Readiness which is linked to real-life time.  However note that Readiness cannot go below 50% and is so the decay will only affect the bonus from multiplayer.  Something like 1% a day.

What this means in regards to the endings is that to get the perfect ending, you have to play through the singleplayer game and do EVERY sidemission to get the perfect ending.  Now you can do multiplayer so you have to do less sidemissions but that bonus will decay in real-time.  You can take your time but you'll have to play the multiplayer or the iOS game to maintain or increase your readiness bonus percentage.

So the multiplayer makes getting the perfect game MUCH easier.  It is however doable in singleplayer only.  Also when you import your level 20 character you get a GAW score of 75.

And yes the decay system is a horrible idea and I hate the person who thought it up.

Source is a guy who has played a build of the complete game.  Check spoiler group for more details.

Again it is possible to get a perfect ending without the multiplayer but it is much harder.

Formula:

Overall score = GaW x GR.

GaW is affected by SP and doesn't decay over time.

GR is affected by MP and decays 1% every day if it is above 50%. If you don't play MP at all, it is always at 50%.

Good thing still can get perfect ending from single player alone, just need to do every missions

I just tested me3 demo campaign mode. I never played previous ME before.. But im curious what you guys choose to play on campaign mode? Role playing or action? Is role playing harder? Because i only tried action.
The demo version had alot of screen tearings and frame rate problems. I hope its not like this in the final build..

To experience the full game, choose role playing mode, it lets you make your own decision.

I only encounter frame rate problem during cutscene, no screen tearing though.

action mode -> for people who just want action and dun care about the story

story mode -> for people who want to know about the story and make important decision but sux in action

role playing -> which is the whole package of both action mode and story mode together, the only mode which can let u experience the whole mass effect universe entirely.

is that really that hard to understand? at first glance i oredi know what is that.

i 100% perfectly understand...

but why must the developer incorporate all these modes at the first place?

to cater new audience? in my opinion ME should be played like it was meant to be. role playing as you described above

to cater to new audience. me1 & me2, don't have mp. now me3 got mp because certain people complain to bioware they want mp and bioware caved in to their pathethic demands.

people who never played ME before, should probably avoid playing ME3 because they have no idea what the story is about.

to understand the story they have to play ME1 & ME2 or at least play the PS3 version of ME2 first.

You definitely should, it'll give you at least almost the full story, unfortunately there's no ME1 on PS3 so we have to make do with the interactive comics they put into ME2.

Almost done with my ME2 insanity playthrough, 1 more mission to go smile.gif

my situation is similar as you. i didn't played ME1 back then because my pc wasn't powerful enough to run it. i plan to buy it on EA Origin store soon, so that i can enjoy the story more instead of relying on the limited interactive comic found in the ps3 version of ME2.

Same here. Played ME1 and ME2 on PC. Had to replay the whole of ME2 on PS3.

And ME1 is really clunky and boring compared to ME2. Remember the inventory management?

Oh god the inventory, it's so hard to find something in ME1 inventory, though I miss the possibility to add mods to your guns though. Good thing it's back in ME3.

The only thing I don't like in ME2 is planet scanning, so boring.

they should just remove the ammo system. its dumb. in me1 weapons have a overheat meter, it was much better than way. but its just a small gripe so nothing to flip table about.

besides, who leaves ammo clips lying around in the game like dat lol. if fall from enemy i understand.

and planet scanning is much better than mako driving lol. i have tried to replay me1 numerous times always end up quiting when reach mako driving.

I actually like driving Mako, it's quite fun, just that ME1 planet doesn't really have a lot of variety.

Ammo wise I am ok with either one, in ME2 ammo appear on the ground and also drop by the enemies. So if they make enemies drop ammo more often, they can just remove those that appear on the ground.

why would anyone with a sound mind want to play ME3 quickly??  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

...or maybe if you want to plat the game the second walkthru you choose action mode?
*
I playthrough ME2 8 times, first 2 times are very quick run throughs because I just want to learn the major stories. Later 6 times I focus on min max up my builds and focus on the action, skipping most of the dialogue except for the ones that I never heard before.

For me action mode makes sense. Then there are players that play ME for the story, and complain that ME2 combat is too hard.

I advise all of you who have pre-ordered Mass Effect 3, either standard edition or collector's edition or consider buying it in the future, THINK AGAIN.

SUMMARY:
"I'm not buying the last game to the trilogy, to the series which I enjoyed a tonne for the last few years, because it offends my sensibility as a consumer. I do not find this acceptable. I will not support it with my money.
I won't.
I refuse.
I can't .
Because it would make me a bad person, because it against my principles, against what I think is right, when it comes to gaming in general. This is beyond acceptable. "

And not only this, PS3 is getting the inferior version of Mass Effect 3.

A standard looking game should have at least 30 frame per second (FPS). But PS3 is only getting roughly 20+ FPS in cut scene. 20+ FPS is not fun to watch and play. This is bad and lazy coding for PS3. Here is the discussion topic about this issue in the Bioware's official forum.

Disappointed with the framerate
"Don't buy the game before you know more about it. The silence from BioWare is all information you need to cancel your preorders. If the game is in better condition than the demo, then get it. Otherwise, save your money to another game instead. Don't fool yourself or take a chance."

Are you sure going to get this game for the PS3? Or shall I say, are you going to support Bioware/ EA for their move on day one DLC which should have been included in the game CD? EA has taken another step forward to rip MORE money from consumers. They cut an important part from the core game and sell it separately to trick more money for higher profit from the core fans who would buy anything. (DICE/ EA at least offered free DLC (Back to Karkand) for those who have pre-ordered the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition.)

The huge problem arises, when Bioware announced day one Mass Effect 3 DLC for extra bucks. If the DLC is not important to the main plot of the game, I wouldn't mind. This DLC, "From Ashes", contain a character and an extra mission. For those who have played Mass Effect, this is a big deal and the entire plot of the game starts from this mysterious species. The origins of the reapers, collectors lies within this character. This is pretty damn important, extremely important and SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE GAME FOR FREE!

The launch is not complete, the content you're buying from the store is not complete for the RM 155 you are paying. This is bad. This is unethical. I've fell in the hype trap of Battlefield 3 and I regretted buying it for having a game that lacks in support, a buggy hell mess of a game. I do not want to repeat it again because Mass Effect 3 is another game from EA.

This is painful to say. I want to see how the epic trilogy ends. But I do not support day one DLC and I hate giving my money to somebody for a bad quality product. If the basic frame rate for PS3 is not fixed or at least on par with the Xbox counterpart, a DEFINITE NO BUY from me.

"Day one launch, day one pirate."

Wow I am surprise that this didn't get posted here until now, been reading the 135 pages of rage at Bioware forum, makes for an interesting afternoon.

My take on it, seems like those that say they are not getting the game due to day 1 dlc and the demo must either know someone that work in Bioware or have access to information that no one has, because all the assumption they make just from those two things are wow astounding.

Well I still gonna get my CE and enjoy my ME3 come March, finish my ME2 insanity with time to spare and wait for ME3 release biggrin.gif

I feel the 1st dlc should be included even on standard editions. Like bf3 the back to karkand was available in limited edition which was initial copies. Collectors editions should include something else like exclusive toys or art books etc. Not typical dlc which everyone could have gotten it at launch.

I kinda agree with what the video mentioned above, though these are my personal thoughts.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/02/23...ned-considered/

The sense of entitlement that gamers has in this day and age, feels that they are entitled to the "Full" game when only paying the base price, Of course developers are maximizing their profit when making DLCs, but think of how far game has come over the years, with every console generation, cost of making game increased exponentially, but actual hardcore gaming market has not expanded much over the years.

The argument that a Day-1 DLC is important to the story so it should be included in the main game fails to see the nature of selling a product. So do you mean a DLC content should be irrelevant, uninteresting, must not have better content than the main game? Then why put up a product like that? you expect it to sell? So a few months down the road, someone can't write a story for a short mission that totally trumps the story of the main mission? It will be accused as developer intentionally hold back the content to sell more DLCs.

In Software development(or a lot of other projects), there is always a cut off line, I need this game release at March, so after October I will stop accepting new ideas for the game, we need the remaining time to implement our existing ideas and fix bug, so sometime after October someone come with me with a very good idea to improve our game, this idea must be hold down for DLC or a sequel. The goal now is to complete the game on schedule. How do you think Duke Nukem Forever is in development for 15 years?

This also, is the trap some of the games this generation falls into. LA Noire, Final Fantasy VS 13, The Last Guardian, MG Rising, Ghost Recon Future Soldier. some of these games are going with new/rare ideas for gameplay, thus it generally takes longer, experiementing and balancing easily drags the time even longer, sending it into development hell. The cost rises higher and higher for every single time you wasted, and you still have to sell the game($59.99) on the standard price when it eventually came out.

This is not something a good developer will trap themselves with, admit it or not, they do not make games for fun, the make them to make money, some will try to strike a balance by making the game they enjoy making while finding ways to monetize it. But if they do not make money, this developer won't come out with the next game.

So DLCs is the sweet middle ground that they found by selling more content to customers that is willing to pay more, while expanding the market to more casual gamers that just like the basic experience and prefer a lower cost to enjoy it. You do aware that game completion rate for good game is only average at 50%? Means that for every 10 people that buys a game, only 5 people plays it till the end. Be glad that they didn't take that as a hint to cut a game short by 50%.

I mean we never heard someone says "I paid RM15 to watch this movie, so I am entitled to watch the director cut, the HD remaster and the 3D rerelease of the movie, they've deliberately not release it in 3D, because we are obviously capable of that technology over 10 years ago".

only a pathethic graphic whore will complain about framerate. if it's as bad as skyrim then you have every reason to complain, but it's not that bad.

Additional squad mate with extra mission, weapons and outfit. People are piss of because it's a Prothean and they are all assuming that Bioware purposely cut out that content to sell off as DLC even though there's no proof to that.

If you buy the CE you'll get this DLC for free, if SE have to buy the DLC for USD10

actually, if it's other way around then ppl wont be as angry.

the whole story of mass effect revolves around the protheans and their technology, and how they were made slaves to the reapers. if this dlc contains background story on how the protheans came to be, or how they became enslaved, then i would consider this to be an integral part of the story. furthermore, if you've played from ME1, wouldnt you be DYING to know this backstory, and how would u feel if EA purposely did not include this, and made you have to pay for it?

it's like EA selling you a story book for full price, then asking you to buy the prologue separately. i think it's abit too much also lo. it's not about the price, it's about EA milking you for your money for something that's integral to the story.

Is a business model. Every other game company is doing this way, why not we ride the bandwagon as well?

I am not surprise if EA is doing this, as well as selling extra character as dlc......just like square enix huh, nwk?

The funny thing about DLC is that it's optional. NOBODY IS POINTING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD FORCING YOU TO BUY IT.

As for the ridiculous outrage regarding the Prothean DLC, this is what BioWare associate producer Michael Gamble, had to say in the Bioware forums:

QUOTE
As most of you know, yesterday there was a leak that revealed the upcoming DLC “ME3:From Ashes” on the
Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This leak took place before we were prepared to make an announcement about the details of that pack (slated for this Friday).

There has been a lot of discussion about the DLC offering but we wanted to clarify a few things...

- “From Ashes” includes the Prothean squad mate, an adventure on Eden Prime, a new weapon, and an alternate
appearance for every squad mate. Note that these alternate appearances are in addition to the ones already advertised in the CE.

- The Collectors Edition has been advertised from the beginning as containing a bonus character/mission, but we were not at liberty to provide the details. The Prothean is optional content that is certainly designed to appeal to long-time fans, which is why he is part of the CE offering (the version many fans would be likely to purchase).  Mass Effect 3 is a complete – and a huge game - right out of the box.

- The content in “From Ashes” was developed by a separate team (after the core game was finished) and not completed until well after the main game went into certification.

- The Collectors Edition has been sold out in most places for some time now, and is becoming very hard to find (many players prefer not to purchase the digital version). As such, we wanted to make this content available so that SE buyers could also incorporate the Prothean into their game.

We’ll be releasing someimages and video about this pack in the coming days.

As always, we are extremely thankful for all of your support. We pulled out all of the stops to make Mass Effect 3 the best game ever, and we can't wait for you all to experience it.

Mike

Being a Prothean doesn't automatically makes it integral to the story, they are an extinct race and appearing after 50,000 years, I doubt they can be of much use. I'll reserve my judgement till after I play the game, no use jumping to conclusion.

- The content in “From Ashes” was developed by a separate team (after the core game was finished) and not completed until well after the main game went into certification.

sentence highlighted in bold clearly implies milking.

like i said, if this was a dlc for alternate costumes, weapons, etc, nobody will make a big fuss.

anyone who says protheans arent important in the ME universe must not have been paying attention while playing the first 2 games. it's like saying female krogans are meh.

you do know that the mass relay technology came from the protheans right?

Is a business model. Every other game company is doing this way, why not we ride the bandwagon as well?

I am not surprise if EA is doing this, as well as selling extra character as dlc......just like square enix huh, nwk?

offer dlc for weapons, costumes, nobody says you cant do that. did anybody make a big fuss when they released weapon packs for ME2?

A 50,000 year old Prothean, telling you about what happen 50,000 years ago, still fail to see how important is it. Of course it depends on how they write it, maybe there's secret cache of Prothean hidden somewhere, but bear in mind those gonna be 50,000 years old Prothean that have not evolve for 50,000 years, just my view though, after all Bioware did not release anymore info other than its a Prothean.

To quote ME wikia, "It is believed the Protheans created the Citadel and the mass relays,", there was not any proof that it was actually them that create it.

If they put a Batarian, I would say the Batarian is even more important than a Prothean, since anyone who played Arrival will know that you'll probably be at war with the Batarian. Having a Batarian on your side would helps a lot in negotiation.

what if it had clues on why the reapers acted the way they did? or why suddenly an advanced race which created the mass relays could suddenly succumb to the reapers?

if you were a ME fan, you would die to know these. and it would suck to have to pay extra for it.

basically, any dlc that expands upon the story would suck if you had to pay for it. i mean, you paid for a full priced game hoping to get every bit of story right?

While DLC is pain in the rear to buy and all that. I see as the future moving since for one, they can produce content for a game that we completed months ago, so we can turn the game on to play the DLC for old time sake or something.

But the main reason for DLC is the moving forward is for game companies, yes they make more money out of it, but it also speeds up production of the main game, since anything extra content they can develop later as a DLC. So it's kind of a balancing factor there. Not everybody can keep a game being developed and annouced years ahead.. cough *blizzard* cough..

You said it yourself, "IF", if it is I'll suck it up and buy it while cursing Bioware. As of now I don't know what it is, could be another Zaeed or Kasumi, so there's really nothing for me to be angry about without more information about it.

Expanding story is fine for me, it just give you more detail but doesn't affect main story in anyway, just like Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, it's something that is nice to know but in no way will make the game worst without it.

Now if they say without the DLC you can't get a good ending then I'll be piss.

Maybe the Prothean is a paradox (FF13-2 pun not intended).

The character is not essential to the story. He is, and always was, planned as an add on DLC, as we have known since the first advertisements for the collectors edition came out. When they produced him is irrelevant.

btw, I pre-ordered the standard edition and I will buy the dlc day one.

the only item that physical ce buyers don't get is the at-12 raider shotgun, as that requires digital purchase.

Yup. I do hope the DLC is more of the Kasumi / Lair of Shadow Broker variant. So it expands the story, but doesn't effect the main ending in anyway.

But like you, if they say no DLC you can't get secret ending number #47, that's that bollocks.

Why are people are complaining about the DLC when they should be complaining about how EA is releasing the digital version of ME3 at the same time as the retail version?

It's a slap in the face to people who have pre-ordered the retail CE and SE.

i also perfer physical copy of the game instead of digital copy.

i think, EA should show some respect to the gamers who pre-ordered the retail version and release the digital version 3 to 6 months later.

many people in bioware forum are also not happy with this.

ive downloaded the demo and played it. the cut scenes framerate is super slow i think. my ps3 hang 2times already in the middle of the game. futhermore the story or cutscenes is long.

nevertheless i still enjoy the gameplay. huhu

For me, it's my genuine interest to learn more about the Universe and Alien Species they created. If that does not interest you, this is probably not your genre of game.

And tell me you didn't play the game as a soldier, because if you did, surely you won't experience the unique combat of ME.

Edit based on your trophies, I can tell you not even recruited a squadmate, so the fun part hasn't really start yet biggrin.gif

Yeah locally can only get R3 copies, the only way to get R1 CE is through Amazon or other online store, though Amazon already sold out on R1 CE
*
Those merchants who offer $10 promotional discount codes (eg. Amazon, Best Buy) are the very first to go out of stock. I'm pretty sure $79.90 ones by other dealers are still available.

Come to think of it, CE is the obvious choice for them US folks. $59.90 for standard edition, additional $9.90 for DLC... Might as well add $10 for CE whistling.gif

*SPOILER ALERT*
IGN: Mass Effect 3 Review in Progress

"It's also worth noting that a few technical issues arise on the PS3 version as soon as you start playing, too. Fairly serious framerate issues plague the opening cinematic on Earth, and while this particular problem clears up as you play further through the game via future cutscenes, these hitches certainly concerned me early on. Likewise, lip-syncing is almost always off and characters sometimes appear stiff and can even flicker in and out of cutscenes when camera angles change. "

Be warned.

Too bad for me the R1 CE from Amazon doesn't have $10 discount code, only the standard edition have it.

Haha been meaning to get A4O but till now haven't get, if it was a full single player game I would have gotten it on release, but it's a co-op and from review it's just not as good as the previous R & C games. Might get it later though when it gets cheaper.

Just the story.
The gameplay is clunky and is not sure whether it wants to be an action game or RPG.
It's literally stuck in the middle.

Hmm... What resolution does ME3 run at (still waiting for my demo to finish downloading)? If it's 1080p maybe can try lowering the resolution to 720p, that usually works for demanding PC games when the hardware can no longer keep up tongue.gif

Any idea if it makes any difference to import characters from ME2 or to play fresh on ME3 without imports?

Some of the decisions you make in ME2 will have an impact on ME3, otherwise you'll just be following the canon story

Game play is ok but the cutscenes a bit laggy, hopefully they address the issue in the final launch.

Be prepared for the invasion of Galaxy!!

Awesomeness is coming...

My favourite squadmate would be
1. Ashley
2. Tali

I hope they will be pawnage team in ME3...

According to IGN review in progress, the lag in the starting cutscene is still there, but subsequent cutscene doesn't have that problem.

lol ThE-1cY do you have to keep coming back with this to sway ppl from buying the game? I played the demo and did not notice any framerate issues at all, so either it is not there, or it's too minor for my untrained eyes.

Addendum: all those years I've been forcing my low end PC to run games that is totally out of it's spec might have done things to me, but that is just me.

I'm not sure how you guys define as bad framerate. I play the demo and it feels fine for me.

pergh from what i read the lvl cap is now 60. that is awesome.

sad to see the finalized product for ps3 still have framerate issues. but the reviewer did say it was only the early part of the game.

no mako, no planet scanning. wow. thats good news.

Looks good. while i definitely go for the 'traditional' game experience, i can see adding the option for story mode only and action type only creates an interesting play style for some of the more casuals.

It's about options. smile.gif

not internet lag. framerate stutters smile.gif . The pc version is so much better lol, either its the ps3 aging or bad optimization. But its usually optimization.

I agree, it does stutter quite a bit in comparison to the PC version. At least still playable but definitely not as fun (experience wise), hopefully it can be solved in the future with a patch.

My wait for 2 years is almost over.

After ME3, I don't think I will be playing console game for a while, unless there is another scifi related game.

Why do I have a feeling that either Kaiden/Ashley or James will die?

ME2 not hard to plat, almost all trophies can get from 1 playthrough, 2nd playthrough is just for Insanity trophy, then plat already.

If not mistaken, most of the characters return, even DLC type such as Kasumi.

But the crew that Shepard takes with him/her is more limited this time around.

this is easy.
remember how me2 handled wrex's death?

they just replaced him in tuchanka with his brother or something that looks 99% alike.

thus, even if mordin died, another salarian scientist can easily replace him.

if key characters like garus or tali dies i dunno how they gonna handle tho.

anyone wants to speculate what that column of light in the main page is?

It looks like something center to the plot - maybe the secrets of the Reapers, or the heart of the reapers.

Erm... nope, we paid for the CE because we think the content offered in the package is worth the price, there are gamers who prefer physical copy of games over downloadable versions for a variety of reasons.

Erm... nope, we paid for the CE because we think the content offered in the package is worth the price, there are gamers who prefer physical copy of games over downloadable versions for a variety of reasons.

yup same here, paid for the CE coz I want those extra stuff in the box.

+1

Only CE gets the From Ashes DLC for free.

ThE-1cY, you complain so much about PS3 version, I wonder why you don't play PC version. rolleyes.gif

I also order for CE compare with psn version. Collector Edition Rm240 is really worth the money and cheap compare with other game CE.

Cant believe the ppl that complaint so much and discourage other ppl from buying me3 but itself buying me3 for ps3 also. Lol smile.gif

Well, to those who complain on ME3 on PS3 should play the PC version. Generally the PC version is always 'better' than the others since they can cater for the best spec machine possible.

I prefer PS3 version even with the lagness whatever since I'm just too lazy to upgrade my pc. And the one PS3 is the same like any other means less tweaking for specs. Plug and play ftw.

1 more day to go!! Go Go Go!!

Last time tried to download a game 12 gig, ME2 digitally. Took me 6 hours....

really not worth it IMHO because might hit quota of 60 GIG per month fast like that...

lol if he really that KS, you see him charge that way, you turn around and shoot the other way, KS Vanguard will die very quick without support fire from teammates.

If he still survives that, this means he is quite a good vanguard, not really KS-ing

Yeah. From my experience that is. Don't know about other people in Sarawak. And I usually leave it on for about 12 hour (6pm to 6 am) for download. SO anybody know whether the multiplayer will be region free?

The framerate issues are still there as it is in the Demo.
But like the demo, just the intro scene.

After that, the game runs mostly solid... dips here and there though just like ME2.

The choices you made in ME2 will be brought foward to the story in ME3 and your character's level will also be imported like jhcj said.

Thanks for the reply.

I am getting my game this saturday.. sigh currently outstation but can't help read some of the spoilers. Still thinking whether there will be enough time to finish a paragon path in ME2 and import them to me3 in the next 3days.

just hope that u dun kill us like the terminators when u r fully self aware.....

Anyway, i saw some of you are playing mass effect 3 in my frenlist. Just wanna ask......

when in Liara's room, i have a glitch where shepard's head is always looking at the drone in Liara's room while talking to Liara. The body reaction is so weird when the head is looking at the drone while the body is reacting to Liara's conversation. Even Liara's eye is looking at the drone while talking to shepard.......

it depends on the eye of the beholder.

screen tearing from the demo is gone but the frame rate is not consistent. for me, this is better then the demo.

We are aware that some players are having issues importing the faces of characters from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2 into Mass Effect 3. The issue is likely in how faces were detected when imported from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2, and we’re working on the best way to correct it for affected players.

This game is way better than ME2.
Controls feel smoother, and Shephard's dodge move is absolutely fantastic.
Minor addition, but makes battles so much more fun and accessible.
The RPG elements also feel more in depth.
Being an engineer feels more complete in this game.

Only 2 or so hours in, but loving this game way more than I ever did ME2.

Money freaking well spent!

Before i get too far into the game, anybody got the fem-shepard face code from the take back the earth trailer?

I just want to change looks, and my ME2 look is just not the same anymore...

Use codes from masseffect2faces.com. Pick a face u like, then tweak it abit in game.

Because the nature of the new char creator is diff, hard to make the shep that we used to have. A lot people in bioware forum raging bout this lol.

IINM, N7 rating is the total level of the characters you use.

say that u got 3 char/class with each at lvl5, 6 & 7.
N7 rating; 5+6+7=18
