If a sales only need a vehicle for local used. Can just take a car similar to the $16k Kangloo I posted. Per year depletion is only 4k+ still 2015. The 80k kenari or depletion of 8k per year is way too much, you can buy a SG Kangloo and a MY plate Honda with the same amount of money.

Those 2nd hand car listing price is including COE or excluding COE? Like if you buy that $16k Kangoo, the COE expire in 2015, no need to pay extra for that 3 years of COE?

[edit] wahlau latest COE prices ... cat a $64k cat b $91k leh ... http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/writeup.php?AID=70

Included. For that example, the COE was just 7k. Left 3 years so you get back 2.1k from Coe alone if you scrap the car now. It runs on diesel so cheaper fuel too.

This MIGHT BE good for those who already have a car for family and personal used, the $450 can supplement the montly expenses.

Assumed you already have own car, so exclude tax, parking, insurance etc:

some sales people can clock 5000km or more per month.

Say your car can run at best 14km/l, that's 360L of petrol.

Say you buy cheap RON 92 (take it as $2/L) , that's $2 x 360 x 15% discount(if you have) =  $612

every 10k you service your car once, say cheap cheap type $100, that's $50/month

say your tyre last you 40,000km, cheap cheap 4x $100/pc, that's  $50/month

Just these extra running cost item alone cost you $712 / month.

$450 you get is not much unless your cut on the sales is really good to offset the difference.
cost of car dont have to be 80k lah... this will do

can't you just ask Taxi e-voucher from the company? You don't have to buy a new car and the company don't have to pay you transport allowance.good deal for both of you and the company.

It is a G plate (commercial vehicle) and he HAVE to register the car under a comapany (he can just start up one) but good enough for someone who just want to start working as Sales in SG. He still can drive it in Malaysia, need to apply here

IMO, unless he need to fetch client around then he can ask the company to get a nice car and he drive it with company subsidy. Else, he is better off with a much cheaper and low running cost(diesel) commercial vehicle. If anything happen to his car, his lost will be limited.

The worst thing is he take bank loan to buy a $80k private car for his job. If his car report as total lost cause by a drunk no licence driver or something that the insurance company don't have to compensate him. He will stuck with no car, no sales and the 80k loan. Not to mentioned the bank may not want to loan him more money to buy a second car.

years ago I have friends who work as technical/sales for a startup company. They ask the boss to buy bike for them as they have to travel a lot, one got a sport bike and the other ask for a tour bike. Not a problem when come to traffic jam, easier to find parking, cheaper running cost and can drive back to their home town.

Ultimately, it is not a very good deal if one have to buy his own car/bike out of his own pocket just for the jobs.

say you work 20days a month and drive 5000km/ month for sales jobs.

rental of the cheaper car $54 x 20 = $1080

5000km x $0.3/km = $1500

Total is $2580 /month, good?

For occasional a few days personal used, ok.

Agree that car sharing it is not cost effective for regular use, only good for 'once in a blue moon' type of use.

To be honest, I've never seen anyone get his credit card application rejected before. If you meet the minimum 80K income criteria, then your credit standing/history must be the issue.
