“Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.”

“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”

Qoutes from Buddha

Added on April 17, 2012, 12:30 pm{once i approach a farmer n questioned him what he did is wrong, he ask me, so, since u are so compassionate with beings....are u a full vegetarian?..u eat meats or not? u eat eggs or not? ohh....u eat??....so, u are selectively compassionate is it? the birds show u the money so u show humane with them n chicken eggs or meats don't show the money n u can eat them n feel good about it?
i shut my mouth....he is right.) Quote CHANK.

My friend, He is very wrong as chicken, goats or cows are breed for table and even egg but the all eggs have no life meaning not fertilized. So, I can proudly proclaim that my birdnests are halal and can be consume by all inrespective of religions. Can others? One Buddhist follower did came to talk to me on this matter and why I certified that my nests can be consume by true Buddhist as all bird nests contain no life. I told him that although, birdnests contain no life but during harvesting, they took away life then that nests can never be consume by pious men who truly believe in their belief. I can say so as I harvested my own nests and surely can assured that my nests harvested without destroying any life; thus Halal and safe for consumption. Also, my processed nests are assured 100% pure from any impurities, bleeching and additives, harmful or otherwise.

Here, in BH, we don't breed the swiftlets and even feeding them and so, we just provide them with a safe sanctuary to breed. For that purpose, we demand very high service charges. Swiftlets do not require our BHs to live but they only use the BHs for breeding. Their home are in the sky and for that only reason, they need a safe haven for their offsprings unless the swiftlet find a way lay eggs in the cloud. Then, swiftlets will have no use of us and they will no longer need legs.

In our unwritten agreement with swiftlets, we are to provide them with a safe place to breed and in return, we have their used nests for our services.

SOS ( Save Our Swiftlets)

Yours Faithfully,
SSP

uncle ww, u are right in ur view point n my friend is right in his own view point.

if everyone believe in cause n effects then this world tak jadi begitu kelam kabut le. if our politicians n officers believe in causes n effects, they knew that the effects of corruption is when they die they will reborn as cow for many many life until they repay back all the money they siphone from the rakyat. kalau u tau ini adalah effects, u tak berani makan duit lah...

and if farmers believe in causes n effects, they will not dare to steal bn that still used by the swiftlets or kills swiftlets as by stealing the bn, next life u will have the effects of peoples keep stealing from u. and by killing, next life u will have alot of sickness.

unfortunately, whether u believe it or not...causes n effects still follow u forever....but peoples don't worry about causes, they only worry about effects....

dui lah.....by the way....can any ah long borrow some money to us, poor farmers to buy the RFID chip kah?.....but still why need to tract farms when nitrite is naturally existed in the first place and most of the unnatural n exceed nitrite level comes from the processors? why forcing farmers to buy RM4k a unit to tract what? why selangor bn association never raise this question n blur blur go n accept?

good business leh, RM4,000 a unit, 60,000 farms = 240,000,000.00

All the authorities need is to supervise and educate the processing plants. Let the processing plant/buyers compulsory registering the source of EBN if required.....in their log book.

Why RFID Chips.....wasteful and useless..in near future, these Chips will be white Elephant as usual. If no choice and must buy, can we buy our own Chip from China cos maybe @ 5% of the price, I guess.

In the Pre-Election Fever, some many NGOs have been approached by political parties to hold sponsored gathering and why our NGO swiftlets Associations have been left out?

Why don't the BH owners setup a co-op to be the registered buyer for members' EBN and bypass the 8 approved buyers?

Are you kidding? The Association will find so difficult to obtain the 3 certificates in order to export and many have tried hard even engaging experts/professional in the field and spend tens of thousands and still await on final approval after a year. I have a suggestion that one of us or the Association JV with influential mainland Chinese to buy nests and process and only thru this way, we can bypass our present Gmen requirements.

If they want to control and they will find many reasons for doing so and prevent you from doing so ..........we are not talking about hundreds, thousands but millions ringgits of profit here and possible Billions if all goes well with their plans............

Like in everything that make huge profit, they will try to get. Ask Sugar King on why he gave up suger Buz then and now, what the price after he gave up the Sugar Buz here...........it's all about who is in power.

And you think the present Opposition will be different; you are dreaming cos only from a boiling pot not into the fire but into another pot going to boil......giving sometime to relax only. Some will console oneself that at least, we have the extra off time to heal the wound.......before we again will be hit right left and up down.

it is regarding to the stupid machine that i mention earlier...

"燕公会说这个机器类似追踪器,还要去Celcom申请开线的,以后你的一举一动由政府监视,确保燕窝纯正品质保证,开线以后每个月还要付费连线费用。你们说狗吗?听到这样的消息我不想听下去,直接回家!还有这个东西暂时还没强逼性安装,以后就不知道!听说加工厂开始要安装了。"

Hi all,
I like to talk about something else a little. It's about the golden color nest. And this topic may later on prove valuable for some bird keepers, when negotiation time comes.

There was a free seminar in my area recently and this one host guy, sounded professional, pointed out that there are black nests (cheapest), white nest, red nest (more expensive), and golden nest(most expensive).

He went on to say that when we keep the nest longer, it will turn yellow. If we go on to keep them for even longer, it will eventually turn from yellow to golden. However most cannot keep it that long.

Anybody tried that before? Keep the nest until they become golden color?
and
Golden color nests really fetch higher price in your area?
and
What causes a golden color nest? Will yellow nest become golden if kept long enough?

If this info is real, from this very long drought, some of our nests will become golden for sure. smile.gif

He must be trying to be funny or ..........as Free thing including seminars are never Free. Why everyone now are harvesting nests faster than the birds can put the eggs in so that the nest will remain white........later, it will turn slightly brownish or if you prefer to call it yellowish. Later, it will become brownish and worth less than half the price of the white.

Expose the nests to sun , the white nests will turn to brownish or reddish if the the nests are initially slightly pinkish. How to determine if your nests are pinkish, just direct your light on the nest in your BH and if the reflection is pinkish, then the nest will become reddish if expose to sunlight for some time.

If you preserve a nest well like I did with some of the first time nests for remembrances (more than 15 years), they turn to slightly yellowish but very brittle cos it's so dry...but they never become Golden. If they do, I shall be very much richer.

From experience, very clean and white nests will only become yellowish if preserve well but never golden. I tried for 15 years but maybe a hundred years, who know cos by then you and I are all gone.

Hope you find my information well.

hahaha....chitchai....

one of my friend trying to sell his nests last week..n the collector come and said that ...wah....i never see such nests before leh....my friend ask...so, is it good or what?...the collector said....u know ahh....if yellow or pink still better but ur nests color are orange lah...so arr....i can only give u 1.6 for this...

hahaha....i guess thts what u call golden....but buyers got their own color tone chart...gold mean orange....hehehe...

come back to the cow thing...i think they just way too good for their kids..as they are trying to siphone enough money to maintain his/her childrens lavish lifestyles n also for their cucu, cucu punya cucu...but they should really instruct their great grand children that the whole family group must be vegetarian after he die...else....can u imagine....they use ur dirty money to buy that beef ( you ) n eat it ( you )....oh shit...cannot imagine that to happen....guess...end of the story of cause n effects before everyone in this forum start to vomit...

the demand of nests are picking up as buyers knew that next round of nests will be heavy with feathers..they are offering rm300 extra for cup nests.....but the price is what we sell broken nests last year....

sop..sop.....

Added on April 19, 2012, 11:11 pmn one of friend change his driver lah...

he said ahh...pui...this guy every morning also drunk punya...for sure he will very soon take me to holland...so, i better change this driver lah....at least ahh...if don't change, sure die ( 100%) but if change ahh...50% chance to survive...so, change or not?

but seriously, we need to take up the suggestion from Hai-O group to set up a protem to tackle this issue, if we can tie up Tan sri Cheng of parkson group, Hai-O and etc that have strong link in china to protect us from the sharks...then we have a tiny hope to survive.

spread the words before too late...

Appreciate both info. Thanks a lot.
This week 1 Chinese guy call my bro in BKK to ask price and my bro quote 3kRM. Nothing happened.

This week another guy from China (relative to local southern Thai) approach me to see my nest (after being told my price was 3K Rm). After seeing my nests, he went home... doh.gif (even though the bag I showed him weren't that bad..)

So like you said, there are some increasing activities on the buyer side in this last couple of weeks. But not many are really buying. Maybe my price is still too high...

I just want to say thanks to Tuck Fook for his advice on getting rid of the shrew in my farm. After trying to bag the wily critter with snap traps, cage and King Kong poison for a few weeks without success, I finally up the ante and bought some poison same grade as Furudan and placed it carefully inside a mango and the shrew took the bait and paid for the price with its life.... Anyone want to use the poison must be very careful and better wear long sleeves shirt and long pants and cover your hands (feet if wearing sandals) with gloves or plastic bags and wear a mask and goggles... the thing is to take no chance... I just use the poison sparingly and its enough to get the job done.

Added on April 20, 2012, 8:26 pmHi guys,

Bird nest buyers are looking for white bird nests nowadays; anyone has suggestion on best ways to prevent nests from turning yellow? Would putting nests inside tupperware containers and then placing them into a freezer help to maintain their whitish look?

If you have not much nests, putting them in the freezer (-18*) works best. They won't change one bit as long as you still pay electric bills. However many kilos become a problem where your many freezers run out of space. And that's when turning yellow becomes inevitable, like mine sad.gif Hope this helps.

I was informed that if ebn is stored in a freezer, the texture will change after thawing. Just like fish balls stored in a freezer, they will be different from the normal ones.

I have never tried it, so input from those with food technology expertise is most welcome.

I did not notice any difference in the texture of the nests even after a month or so in the freezers...... but I am no food expert .

Any guys know of alternatively insecticide to kill off bird mites ? Eventually they are going to get immunity through our frequent use in the BH. As it is now the effectiveness seems to be thinning.

Chitchai,

Thanks for your input; my friend talked me into buying a chest freezer. I hope it will help preserve the whiteness of the nests which means higher prices. A swiftlet farmer job is never done... attract birds, deal with predators, prevent break ins, tangle with the authorities, problem with China, dealing with fussy buyers... new issue of monopoly... if price is high... then can still be happy but now with low prices... not so happy....

The fish balls taste different because you boil it while it is still frozen, if you let it thaw completely only cook then it shouldn't taste any different, maybe even fisher smell because meat has an expiry date biggrin.gif
