this thread exists in a wrong section. most of the time people here are discussing more about living in singapore, not so much about working or developing a career in singapore.

you tak suka you keluar? lol.

there isn't a proper section, a few times various people have tried to open in kopitiam, but /k/ tends to have tons of spam so those attempts all quite fail. at least here most of the posts are somewhat related.

besides, since LYN is a "Malaysian" forum, a thread entitled "Working in Singapore (as a foreigner)" will naturally also include talk about living conditions, differences between the countries, etc etc, so it's partially on-topic what.

Think of all of us as Malaysian expats in Singapore. Living conditions and other interactions are part of our expat packages.

Wishful thinking is that it will be more than just a hope. Sad to say, it will be a long wait still.

This is our life here in SG that comes in a package when we made the decision to work here. I think it has to do with our work daily.

Well, not in the traditional sense of the word, but we fit much of the definition of the term 'expat' except that 90% of us have to pay for it out of our own pockets. You pay or employer pays.., it's all coming out of your overall package.

It's not like we're doing menial work, have no alternative employment back home and are not in control of our situation and environment (ie. package). I did my math before accepting my transfer here. If I don't get to live a comfortable life and at the same time earn & advance in my career significantly more than remaining in KL, I wouldn't have come here at all. I hope you guys did your math as well.

sorry, my mistake, not a penalty.

if someone works less than 183 days in singapore and then leaves the country, they will have to pay tax at a higher rate to govt.

if you change companies, there's no penalty.
*
if im not mistaken its at 15%. but should be able to get back the overpaid monies from IRAS.

my colleagues said that you can only get refunded (part of the 15%)
when you left the company.

i.e you cannot get the overpaid money as long as you are still working with the same company. anybody can confirm this?
